Evan E he is good, BUT it was too much. A great drummer would know when to be complicated or when to be simple yet full type of thing u knows. U dont need to put 6 tuplets everywhere. This is an old video do I'm sure the drummer has had some more experience with performing and I hope he understands that concept.

Non musicians tend to like flashy over perfection, like double kick, shredding etc. It shows too. If you look up any talent show with a solo or decent drums the crowd goes wild while the real musicians criticize it in some form or say the applause wasn't needed. That is you right now.

I don't think being critical and having fun are mutually exclusive. While I do believe you can go too far with being critical (I believe the movie Whiplash is an incredible piece showing what happens when you do decide to go all in on the critical aspect.

I really don't see where all the negative comments are coming from. Obviously, there were a few parts where you rushed or dragged a bit, but that shit happens in live performances. You seemed pretty loud, but that would be different in the studio. Basically, what I'm trying to say is that for a high school band, this is pretty fucking awesome.

He’s just trying to say the dude isn’t pulling his weight. The other guys are completely shredding on their instruments, and it’s really impressive. The bass player is doing super simple stuff, and he isn’t even doin a good job AT that simple stuff.
The drummer is great technically and yeah he sounds loud because of where the camera is, but he did seem to overplay a bit. Anyone else think so? (Again, he's great technically, not hating on his skill or volume, just seemed like a lot, coming from a fellow drummer)

I loved the double pedal, but he did overplay a lot. There are a lot spots where the keys and bass should’ve had more volume. The sax could’ve been mic’d too. I still respect that they had all of that memorized.

The drummer sounds loud because this was shot on a handheld camera or possibly a cell phone. If anything, the sax could've been miced and the sound guy would've had it mixed right for the audience. The drums are the loudest instrument on the stage but proper mics make it right for the live experience.

I feel for the drummer because from experience when you film drums over other instruments with like a phone or any cameras really the cymbals are so much louder than every thing else which is a pain when you are trying to get a decent vid so don’t hate on the drummer, hate on the mic on the camera it only sounds equal in volume when you mic up the whole kit and every other instrument and then multitrack record it and then separate the instruments then balance the instruments and then put it all back together and then sinc it with the picture recording before you even start to edit the actual vid so don’t hate on the drums being to loud!!!!!!
(Basically in short for the noobs it is the mic on the camera that makes the drums too loud not the other instruments being too quiet)
As a bass guitar player i would really have wished if the bass was more prominent in the show (maybe seven nation army?)

Very good drummer! Love how easy he transition from one song to another without losing the way how he wanted to play.
some people really don't realise how hard the drum is. its damn diffecult to do different things with both of your hands and feet. plus keeping the tempo up. probs to the amazing drummer! he got some crazy talent
