    Here in Poland typical flat is provided with three phase supply, and induction ovens would be three phase by standard, dedicated circuit gets RCD typeA and MCB for home use (RCBOs are not so popular). Also very often used to protect typical home wallbox that would be 11kW, 3P16A. Costs circa 35EUR, VAT included. Infrastructure investments would benefit UK as well.

    I work in a Plating factory and use 3 phase acti 9 isobar DB's. The TP RCBO's take up too much precious room in the DB. I would usually look to fit the RCD in a separate dedicated IP rated enclosure outside the board. Possibly would have fitted them above the trunking with clear lid enclosure.

    26:40 For this I love the European way with point at down or up to point-over-connector where do you can use slack-free to your devices in correct length. At this old way where a cable can use differently position I use for all cable the longest way with slack for all cables. Here it is forbidden to tie together raw cables so we use the plastic around the cable to bind them together or marked them. Without slack do you have many Wagos inside in short time after do you reconfiguration all CU boards every one till two years. Good to see at this *new* kitchen!
    BTW: How do you testing your finish CU board if the device not de-plugable?

    I know it doesn’t look good using different branded breakers in the same board but have you looked into the NHP range of 3ph RCBO’s? They’ve got several that only take up 3 poles and come with a neutral tail for the line side so you don’t have to modify the chassis.
    Only problem is they run a little hot (measured 49 degrees Celsius just being powered up with no load on a FLIR).

    Great video again Mike, the inside part of the distribution board is or was also sold separately to go in other enclosures as you mentioned is called a pan assembly. Don't they do a 4-pole RCBO with a neutral flylead that would have taken up fewer ways and would probably be less expensive? I don't know what would happened if there was not so many spare ways. I had to do something similar in a new installation but it was designed with a 4-pole RCD on din rails in an adjacent enclosure it looked like there was no room there.

Maybe they're just more popular in The Netherlands where I live. However, I've never seen one that is so huge! All of the 3 phase RCBOs that I've seen in use were just 4 modules wide, just like a 3 phase plus neutral MCB. The specs of this combination thing that you even have to assemble like it's from Ikea don't seem too different either. Do you happen to know what the advantages are of this kit, compared to a 4 pole 4 module RCBO?

    • @petermichaelgreen
      @petermichaelgreen 3 месяца назад +2

      You can fit a Vigi to a 3 pole MCB. I'm pretty sure that is why the neutral is a flylead rather than being a bus stab like the phase connections.
      If there is an upstream RCD (for example a TT supply) then you need to isolate the neutral. IIRC some loads (EV chargers spring to mind) also require a RCD that isolates the neutral by regulation.
      Beyond that, a place that is fitting Schneider isobar distribution boards, probablly isn't a place that is going in for "minimum legal spec".

      No, it is not. Then you as electrician do not known and not seen what the owner of this installed socket put on this socket! It is easy to use an other device now! Possible it is a machine with metall outside and a user of this machine with wet hands and the machine overheated. Or they use a 50m power line to the outside swimming pool, or ...
      Exactly for this do you use a machine without a plug so do you known all specification from start to end. Do you can set controlled devices before (e.g. RCD) and then some MCB's up to you. So I love the RCBO's (here in EU Schneider sell them 1p, 2p, 3p with N) how I use for most machinery things too.
