  • I Struggled Re-Doing a Ceiling as a Beginner, but I learned some tips pretty quickly and I thought I would share those with other beginners doing this for the first time.

Hey Joel, just a tip from a retired 40 year painting contractor! Get yourself a 3’ whip hose it goes between the gun and the airless hose makes it a lot easier to spray, also don’t leave the tip on when you are purging the water out of the line much faster that way! Keep the videos coming brother!☮✌🏻

Good job!! Vancouver Carpenter is great. That Kilted Guy DIY Home Improvement is probably the all time best on popcorn ceilings. He would recommend a sealer like PRO-999 RX-35 on torn paper as it often won't bond long term to new mud. I'm not an expert or anything but I've been doing my house room by room. Love your channel!

Having done this a few times on different properties, I think you did a pretty amazing job of scraping the ceiling. You're always going to knick the drywall a little bit and the edges are never going to be perfectly clean (which is why I always finish off with crown molding because I loathe mudding and sanding). Where I failed was using the paint sprayer (same one you purchased). I tried and tried and I could not get a clean spray pattern no matter what I did. I eventually just wound up using a roller. I agree with you about the Vancouver Carpenter, great channel and I enjoy watching him way more than Jeff at Home Renovision, who always seems weirdly smug to me.

I've just ordered this tool and I'm looking forward to testing it out! I have a whole house of popcorn ceiling, so I'll start with a small area like my hallway. I'll come back with results! Thank you for this video!

Thanks Joel! Looks like you did a great job😅. Because of your videos we have been going room by room tearing out carpet and installing the same LPF through our house. Have been repainting ceilings and walls as we go. I loath working over my head.

I have a 1000 sq foot condo in Vancouver Canada and was quoted around 8000-10,000 to remove this damn popcorn ceiling. It's so obscene. I want to try this method now

You can use a shop-vac and a drywll knife attach it together

That is excellent results. A little Pro-999 on the scuffs and you are good to let it dry and sand. But the elephant in the room is previously painted ceilings. Will it work on them without chemicals.

Please make sure you're wearing safety glasses more often! It's not fun getting that stuff stuck in your eye! I would definitely recommend goggles that cover your eyes all the way, like ones you'd see in a chemistry lab, not the ones you swim in. 😂
