The arrowroot powder not only thickens the soup but also keeps you feeling fuller for a longer time plus it gives more energy and the high source of iron will help with iron deficiency, anemia. Arrowroot powder is low in calorie and good for the stomach, all the ingredients in this soup makes it a complete healing diet soup.
Ingredients:
1/2 inch ginger
3 cloves of garlic
Shallots: 5-6
coriander stalks: 4-5
1 green chilli (divided)
1/2 carrot
3 tomatoes
1 tsp pink himalayan salt or as needed
a small piece of cinnamon
1/8 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp black pepper powder (adjust to suit your taste)
chopped coriander leaves
2 tsp arrowroot powder
1 tbsp ACV
A sprig of tulsi leaves to garnish each bowl of soup.

+Manisha Reddy yes, you can! allow the soup to cool down and then place in glass containers/mason jar and keep in fridge. Do not heat it straight from fridge when you want to consume, keep it outside the fridge for 30 mins and then slowly heat on low flame...this way the nutrients and the molecular structure of the food will stay intact. BTW I am not a big fan of microwave and hence do not advocate that. hope this helps and thanks for being here :)

Easy to make. Thank you for all your efforts. I've to questions. 1) I tried finding that kind of cinnamon in all places including Kerala, I could only see the thick bark one. Not the one that you recommended. Even the people who grow that weren't aware of it. So is it okay to use the thick bark one which is easier to get?
2) Is there any other alternative for arrowroot ? Is it same as Sabudana powder? Can I replace it with Tapioca?

Nice recipe for winters ma'am... could you please clarify my doubt on millets ma'am? I have read somewhere that people with hypothyroidism should not eat millets and flax seeds.. is that true?
+Shalini Parthakudi there is some debate with regard to millets being goiterogenic although not much studies has been done to confirm this. Goiterogenic foods can be eaten cooked. Note that in India millets was and is even now a staple food from a long time, especially the tribal communities use them as a staple food. It is also important not to shun a particular food item from your diet. Having millets 3-4 times a week is okay if you have thyroid issues. hope I cleared your doubts.
