Necrovalley is an easy fix. "While this card is face up on the field, Graveyard = No."
but wouldn't that turn Necrovalley into dimensional fissure
instructions unclear, all cards that should have gone to my GY are in my hand now
"Cards in graveyards are unaffected by card effects." There, was that so hard?
@@Dyabolico456 I play dragonmaids, the graveyard and the hand are just the same place. Also necrovalley is unpleasant for me.
This is extremely unfunny
They really printed a card with the phrase "No matter what the situation" on it. I had no idea until today that original Mask of Restrict was unfathomably based.
Back in dragon ruler format that card would exist in my side deck to counter hieretics. It was a very silly and niche flood gate
It had some awkward errata's. One old version of it says "cannot tribute monsters" and the newer version says "cannot tribute cards" which is useful against decks that can tribute traps/spells.
@@grazzer88 The Sacred Beasts need that targeted hate /jk
So if my opponent activates MST on Mask it would be immune? The text says "no matter the situation." 😁
@@Retro_Mage No matter the situation, if a Mask of Restrict exists anywhere in the universe, monsters cannot be tributed
I know it isn’t the text on the card, My favourite is counter counter, a card who’s only effect being to negate a counter trap, initially being released as a normal trap card, meaning it couldn’t respond to counter traps.
When I first became a judge, this card got printed and I got a judge call about it. You can guess how I ruled it but from that point on I knew every judge call I'd ever take would involve konami being stupid.
This was one that I suggested on Twitter but it didn't make the cut - it's one of my favorites, too. I'm not sure what the funnier way to (mis)rule it would have been: "this card literally cannot be activated" or "this card has mystical abilities that bring the chain back down to spell speed 2 even though there's a counter trap at a lower chain link"
@@bren8511 Honestly either way it would be ruled would make sense. I'd personally rule it as "It was clearly intended to be a counter trap card and thus can respond to a counter trap, but also since it's not currently a counter trap it can be responded to by a regular trap."
If curse of fiend can be activated during the standby phase despite being a normal spell I think counter counter could work even if it wasn’t a counter trap
@@wavemotionganon As far as I thought Counter Counter was ruled before knowing it was a misprint, an official ruling states that when a card's effect goes against the rules, the effect takes precedence. So if a Spell Speed 2 card says it can be used against Spell Speed 3 cards, that's how it works.

Despia, Theatre of the Branded.
He had.
1 target.
And frankly on release that was the best target
Arsenal Summoner:
FLIP: Add 1 "Guardian" card from your Deck to your hand, except "Celtic Guardian", "Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress #1", "Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress #2", "Guardian of the Labyrinth", or "The Reliable Guardian".
If this doesnt scream "we messed some translations up" idk what does.
The best part is that they never updated it, so it can technically search Naturia Guardian
Do you know what I can fix that
Arsenal summoner
Flip add 1 "guardian" card from your deck to your hand that can only be special summoned by an equip card.
so no searching eatos?
@@neooreos1263 sorry I forgot
@@SirGrimLockSmithVIII or even funnier: Ko'aki Meiru Guardian
I remember when the Marik Structure Deck came out and the reverse side of the playmat had a whole ass explanation of how Necrovalley worked
It was part of the tips booklet, but yeah, Necrovalley has always been one of the most convoluted cards for what should be a simple effect.
• Increase the ATK/DEF of "Gravekeeper's" monsters by 500.
• Cards in the graveyard cannot be banished.
• Negate any card effect that would target or affect a card in the graveyard.
Magic has a few cards that have similar novellas printed on them because, while it's super easy to explain how the card works, it's a wall of text to explain in Magicese.
Aluber could actually search a Despia spell/trap. The field spell despia, theater of the branded was the only valid target. Also this was a mistake only in the EU.
ALUBER THE GOOBER!
Only in EU? Why is that? How did the printing between the NA and EU change that much? Is it a censorship thing?
Yo wtf its StardustDragonAmvMaker
AHHHH I'M ALLOOOOBBBBBING
The Rampart Blaster effect needed the opponent to control no monsters in the GX PS2 game. Not that the games are perfect with rulings, but they tend to be pretty clear with what was intended at that time in the OCG where the games are made for. My guess is just a poor use of wording during translation.
A good one for name changes is that they deleted the “-“ from hundred eyes dragon.
It used to be “Hundred-Eyes dragon” but they changed it because the “red-eyes” part (Hund’red-eyes’ dragon) meant it worked with all the Red-eyes black dragon support.
Now it’s just “Hundred eyes dragon”
Lol, wtf that's just hilarious. The "Hund"-red-eyes dragon
I think you mean "Red-Eyes B. Dragon"
@@danielwappner1035 ?
I also heard this in Rata's video about Infernity. Funny stuff.
Yu-Gi-Oh truly is a lawyer's game
Actually with Cipher Soldier, it was errated'd so it can fit in the "Cipher" Archetype which was apparently intended in the OCG
Its still part of it
it was not "intended" intended most likely
This say something about the quality of ciphers
It's a reverse of Frog the Jam/ Slime Toad basically. Instead of being mistranslated to have a TCG name that suggests it'd be a part of an archetype it isn't supposed to be in according to the OCG, it got a TCG name that suggests it's unrelated to an archetype that was later released which it is part of by the OCG name. Similar to Summoned Skull not having "Archfiend" in the name when it's supposed to.
So a "Kagemusha of the Blue Flame" situation.
Fun fact! Burstinatrix isn't the only monster with a flavor text errata, let alone the only elemental HERO. Clayman was errata'd too, "he will" was changed to "he'll" but no one talk about it because that errata is so small, and in the same reprint they changed the fact that he was a ROCK TYPE FOR SOME REASON.
Probably because he is an E-HERO and most of them(except some of the manga HERO's) are Warrior Types
But he was made of clay
It made sense!
Unlike virgin rocks Clayman is built to last
My favorite flavor errata is Nekogal #1. It's original flavor text was: "A pussy-fairy. Contrary to her lovely beauty, she claws on her enemies."
Thats right it was a PUSSY-FAIRY.
He's always been a warrior. Even the 1st printing
My favorite errata is definitely Summoned Skull.
He is the only vanilla to get an errata that gives it an effect, while still being a vanilla
Beast of Talwar says hello.
Wasnt the errata that he counts as an archfiend monster?
Same gazelle always treated as a phantom beast like
“ok 😹 good to know this card I would only use in a yugi themed deck has the potential to link with random beast type cards which suck and don’t even have enough support for an engine nor archetype” 😂
@@alfonsopayan09 in all fairness, said random beast cards were prob supposed to be a callback to gazelle
@@hi-i-am-atan They were actually alternate versions of the White Knight archetype that Society of Light Chazz used in his duel against Jaden; same effects, same stats, just Beast-Warriors instead of normal Warriors. Why they would do so, I dunno.
Lord D. used to read "Dragon monsters that you control cannot be affected by your opponents Magic, Trap or Monster Effects while this card is face up on the field"
The one we have now just makes them untargettable
that was fixed really quickly iirc
Imagine this: old Lord of D. 1) Could have monster cards with “dragon” (not typing but)
In its name not affected by anything even…
2)
MTG lol magic cards in a world of spells pendulum spell effects but no “magic” cards to be found
In case you're playing with your YuGiOh deck against a Magic deck, this card was an auto-win back then. Understandable that it was changed...
And this was back during an era where there weren't a lot of monsters that could beat over Blue-Eyes. I can only imagine how that went.
3:23 a similar thing happened to "Harpie's Brother", that ended up getting renamed because it wasn't supposed to be in the Harpie archetype
And we're all still mad at Konami for doing that.
Poor Harpie's Brother got disowned.
When i was first playing Yugioh, i had a copy of Ocean Dragon Lord- Neo Deadlus that had no special summon restrictions, so I simply could summon it off of anything and everything and ruin opponent's hands and fields. Good times...
I had that, too! That was one of the most screwy things I've seen.
I ran some playground duels with this misprint back in the day. Best structure deck purchase ever :p
Actually good jank reasoning deck???
Good times, still love the Daedaluses because of it.
First print CED and I think BLS: Envoy(?) had a similar thing of not specifying "cannot be normal summoned/ set"
3:06 - Yes there is. “Despia, Theater of the Branded.”
Instant neos space is one of the few errated cards I can think of that got it's "when" text changed to "if" so it doesn't miss timing. The card is still bad but it proves konami could make a bunch of cards no longer miss timing if they feel like it.
They should considering how many ok cards are utter shit because of that
Ir they could change the rulings to make when effects never miss timing
@@hawkticus_history_corner Scrap Factory misses timing with a lot of cards in its own archetype......
@@amethonys2798 I know. And I hate it
maybe one day they'll go back and make some of the old gusto monsters playable
Kinetic Soldier's thing was actually the opposite of Frog the Jam. It is a Cipher monster and they didn't want to print that on every Cipher support card.
Rip Harpie’s Brother, you were a real one ✊
8:20 I love that. It reeks of a designer that was so desperately trying to make a card, but every single time in testing he got back a "infinite ways to bypass" and he just went all out on the final product.
My favourite is the one Rata pointed out during his Infernity video.
Hundred Eyes Dragon was originally printed as "Hundred-Eyes Dragon", which meant that it was part of the "Red-Eyes" archetype because you can read it as: "(Hund)red-Eyes". So his second printing just changed it to "Hundred Eyes" so it no longer works.
OCG Last will was worded so badly, the old ocg ruling was that it lets you summon from the deck every time a monster goes to the graveyard.
Aka cannon soldier+any monster+last will was an ftk
Also its text implied it stayed on the field even though it’s a normal spell.
Also the current printing of Last Will lets you summon the whenever you want except the damage step, which is broke as fuck.
@@Ms666slayer "If a monster on your side of the field was sent to your Graveyard this turn, you can Special Summon 1 monster with an ATK of 1500 points or less from your Deck once during this turn. Then shuffle your Deck." Yup. It's a spell card that applies a lingering effect. Last Will can never come off the ban list without an erratum.
Necrovalley had the type and attribute stipulation put onto it because of Elementsabers and that graveyard DNA Surgery that just came out. Thinking 5 years ahead, that's unheard of for Konami
Funny enough, King of the Skull Servants got an errata. Its effect on battle destruction used to be mandatory, but now it's optional. Surprisingly comes up a lot.
"In any order you desire."
Don't tease me like that.
I can see it now
"Special summon any 'Toad' monster except 'Slime Toad'"
I heard that snippet of Discord in this video and I IMMEDIATELY got thrown back to middle school. I know, completely off-topic, just had to point that out. Anyway, I really wish we'd get printings of pre-errata'd cards with PSCT for Time Wizard formats. I think the only card we've seen this happen with is Armory Arm, but clearing up things like Last Will, Last Turn, Self-Destruct Button, and more would really be nice, not to mention why aren't they monetizing their alternate formats?
because they don't actually care about them
Hearing pony music in a Yu-Gi-Oh video, gave me whiplash
Nobody even knows how Last Turn works, that card is a goddamn cognitohazard.
@@seanr.6498 iirc MBT tried to figure out how the card worked but failed.
i don't think it's physically possible to print last will with psct
it's like, genuinely so alien to how basically every era of ygo functioned, as if the peeps who made it themselves didn't actually know how the rules worked ... and, well, they kinda didn't because the rules _weren't_ formalized. it was printed in the stage of ygo's life that was basically the equivalent to mtg's alpha set, where its fellow spells were cards like swords of revealing light and a raigeki that _destroyed itself_ in addition to the monsters because otherwise ... well, you played a card, so it should be on the field, right? _that's_ how undefined the mechanics of the game were at the time
like, i wouldn't be surprised if last will completely ignores the chain after it resolves because ... there wasn't a chain to consider when it was made. resolving traps likely just ... kinda happened however the players felt was most intuitive, for lack of any actual defined mechanics to follow
which is almost certainly why it's never gotten a reprint, because that's just _asking_ to unleash the rulings nightmare that is last will upon poor souls who know no better
Remember when Mek knight avram had actual text? Yeah me too.
Check THIS out!
That wasn't an Errata, that was the TCG being "funny"
I’m still upset about that to this day.
I distinctly remember getting the Yugi Evolution and Kaiba Evolution starter decks when I was a kid, and they came with copies of Sangan and Witch of the Black Forest respectively, but these newer printings specifically mentioned that you had to show the card that you were adding to your hand to your opponent. I, being a dumb 13 year-old kid who didn't know any better, specifically avoided using these versions in favor of the Metal Raiders/Joey Deck/Pegasus Deck versions, because they didn't say I had to reveal what I was adding. So while I don't remember ever adding any cards I wasn't supposed to, I tried to keep that information secret every chance I got. And whenever I was called out for it, I used to say something like "No, I don't have to show you, because I'm not using the version of the card that says I have to." Thankfully I learned how actual game mechanics worked before setting foot in my first local.
Similar thing happened at my school. When they changed "Magic" to "Spell", someone brought in Wave-Motion Cannon, claiming Mystical Space Typhoon and other cards like it couldn't destroy it because those destroy "Magic" cards and Wave-Motion Cannon was a "Spell" card.
I remember getting into an hour long argument because cards stopped specifying that you had to shuffle your deck after searching, so my friend would stack his deck while searching and then say he didn't have to shuffle afterwards.
remember what we lost
I’m surprised there’s no mention of Waboku on this list - that card legit had one of the most confusing wordings and struggle to figure what it was meant to be doing with each errata doing something different
Im surprised no one mentioned Graverobber. It's current effect reading:
"Select 1 Spell Card from your opponent's Graveyard. You can use it as your hand until the end of the turn. If you use it, you take 2000 points of damage."
This is so weird in terms of wording.
If my English serves right you can use a Spell in your opponent's GY this turn and if you do you take 2000.Erratas can be made to better the clarity of a card, and they had the opportunity with the speed duel boxes back then
I don't know how using an opponents card as my hand would be helpful, fingers just grip other cards better
1:17 “I errata’d my body with estrogen”
Chat is the true quality content we come here for
My favourite one is still Hundred-Eyes Dragon being errata'd to Hundred Eyes Dragon - because the hyphen between the first two words unintentionally made this card work with Red-Eyes support.
Technically, Ring of Destruction can also be used in the ATK is EQUAL your opponent’s LP. Which I actually managed to pull off during the NR event in Master Duel.
Remember when Brionac wasn't once per turn and could bounce your own stuff?
Yeah, the original versions of sangan and witch activated no matter how they were sent to the graveyard, it was the golden era of the exodia deck in the OCG, since Graceful charity and Pot of greed were at 3 as well
All the Madolche monsters had their shuffle effect be decided by if this card you control was destroyed by battle or card effect; HOWEVER a small text change from “control” to “in your possession” meant that they would still shuffle themselves back even if they got destroyed from the hand.
Also Tiramisu received an “errata” in her common reprint which was supposed to clarify that her shuffle effect is simultaneous but people thought it was a nerf and caused more issues than solutions back in the day.
Wild huh? 🤔
I had no idea until yesterday that they slaughtered Sinister Serpent. It can only add itself back from the graveyard every other turn now or it gets banished instead of going to your hand.
I think because when it was banned it would always be an inherent +1 in hand advantage because it'd always just recycle itself to your hand during the Standby phase. I think at the time of its relevance you'd have to use Nobleman of Crossout but also ensuring that you didn't banish your own (also situationally rely on your opponent settng it in the first place). So as Konami stupidly do all the time before unbanning a card like that would be an errata it got when PGLD came out that completely waters down its card design to the point of uselessness.
Me in 2004, watching Yu Gi Oh GX: "A school for Duel Monsters? What a stretch!"
Me watching this video now: "Yep, I get it now. Hell, I bet they have adult continued education learning annexes on the mainland."
Actually, Cipher Soldier's name needed to be changed because it *wasn't* included in an archetype it was supposed to be included in. It belongs to the Cipher archetype.
There's some sage advice at 0:10 that we all must follow
Actually ran into someone who was playing dark strike fighter ftk not too long ago... trying to make a level 40 f.a. monster is very funny
For context about Dark Striker, you only need 5 level 8 monsters or 6 level 7 monsters being tributed by it’s effect to just win the duel. Get your opponent down to like 2400 and 2 level 6 will do it. If they’re at 4000 then 4 level 5 monsters will kill.
I’m sure y’all understand just how easy it’d be to FTK with that
I too loved the version of Necrovalley that allowed Grapha to ignore it. Without it, I would never have won a tournament with my Fabled deck in the finals vs Gravekeepers xD
How did Grapha ignore necrovally?
@@kyleyuen245 at one point Necrovalley was worded that cards couldn't move other cards out of the graveyard. But this meant that cards that moved THEMSELVES out of the graveyard were not affected. Grapha, along with a lot of Fabled monsters, fall into this category.
RIP frog the jam
It's always "Except Frog the Jam" and never "Accept Frog the Jam".
Goyo was even worse: We HAD it off for almost a year and then it was later erratad in the OCG to take it off there
To be fair, Goyo was a 2800 atk indiscriminate earth level 6 synchro with an awesome effect, it was stronger even than most level 8 synchros. And what's even more bonkers, it was only released a mere month after Gaia Knight a vanilla earth level 6 synchro with 2600 atk?! I know why they did it, Goyo was a chase card, but I really think they should've switched the attacks of those 2 instead, it would've led to more decision making and choice.
@@Yous0147 I don’t think you got what I was trying to say. The TCG unbanned Goyo Guardian in July of 2014 with no errata to its text, and the card eventually went to 3 with still no text change in April of 2015. We wouldn’t get the Earth Tuner stipulation until the release of Duelist Saga in March of 2017, well passed when anyone was even considering running the card only because it was still banned in the OCG at the time
@@Yous0147 actually 2600 atk it's still high, however, "Goyo Predator" has that and doesn't see play either. As some people say, Goyo wouldn't be that broken today, since gaining advantage slowly, stealing one monster at the time, it's not good enough today. Just think about Drytron in MD, where 1 card in hand, when the game state is supposed to be simplified, means a full board with an Herald, a Masquerena, an xyz, and at least 2 fairies in hand.
@@Zac_the_Intern exactly xD the errata came... when nobody was playing goyo at the time
@@Zac_the_Intern Same deal with REDMD. It was at 1 in TCG since forever, but got an errata anyway because OCG kept it banned
diamond dire wolf has never been the same after the errata...
Rampart Blaster's nerf is one of the weirdest ones since it actually didn't even work that way in the anime and it wasn't on par with anime Bubbleman where the nerf actually made sense.
Interestingly Dark Strike Fighter's errata probably means that it can do some goofy FTK with Photon Satellite because if you boost Satellite up to Level 40 then the stipulation of "on the field" makes DSF blast for 8K.
If you're in a situation where Photon Sat can hit 40 stars, just run the full combo with The Calculator and get damage totals that Master Duel won't even try to measure. I've done it, it's hilarious.
for context, dsf's errata changed absolutely nothing about that in the slightest
the "on the field" part isn't a functional errata, it's clarification - it always burnt based on the level of the monster as it was tributed
Goddess of whim lets you flip a coin to either double or half its attack. It used to not be once per turn. If you were patient enough, you could sit there and flip coins until it had enough attack to otk.
Fun fact: On EDOpro at least (could just be that they're coded wrong), the effect to fusion summon a Tearalament monster by returning the materials to the deck actually works under Necrovalley as long as at least one of the materials is in your hand or field as opposed to the graveyard. VERY stupid interaction.
Thats legal
as long as you don’t return from the Gy it worke
Is the difference that sending to the deck is a cost, which Necrovalley can’t negate?
@@giovannilawes9120 you have to return it from grave. That’s literally on the tearlament monsters.
Fix for Necrovalley.
While face-up on field cards in graveyard unaffected by other cards effects. Basically, this will blanket the graveyard like Necrovalley meant to do.
You just have to keep the "zone lock" because otherwise they can banish themselves for cost, monsters can use their summoning conditions from the graveyard, etc...
When my opponent asked me for the exact text on Aluber during a duel I got so confused when it said Despia spell. I ended up searching the theater because I was so dumbfounded.
Similar to "Frog the Jam", one of my favorite cards growing up was "Harpie's Brother" (to give you a sense of how old I was when I last played) which they later errata'd to be "Sky Scout". Who is that man? I don't know him or his family.
5:00: iirc, Rampart Blaster's even weirder. It initially said 'attack directly', making it sound like it could attack directly even if opponent controlled monsters. It was erattad to 'attack', so it oculd attack monsters... but apparently it was only supposed to be the 'attack directly but only if they control no monsters', and the OCG supposedly had it that way for awhile before the TCG caught up. I can't confirm that part though.
I just wish Frog the Jam kept his name and instead got a condition saying he doesnt count as a frog
1:15 this one is a certified Hood Classic.
Okay, i know exactly what that Necrovally stopping attribute changing errata is supposed to do, stop Elementsabers from letting you get the Elemental Lords on the field (and Stop Rebirth Judgement from doing the same for anything that uses 5-headed dragon, Chimeratech Overdragon or quintet magician)
Neko gal Has a flavor text Change, (for anyone who hasn’t read it) you’re welcome.
Bruh
Kinda wanna see Dark Striker format now. You could run a tournament like the MBT but for erratas instead of bans (or add errata reverts as part of the MBT).
That Ryko barking is my favorite moment in youtube from now on
funny thing about rampart blaster the first effect meant the same that you only can atack direktly if possible with it in def position ^^ got one in an other language from the first prints and there it was better too understand
Nekogal #1 also got her flavour text erratat
Changing Pussy to Pussycat to clarify was just funny
I cannot believe they changed Rampart Blaster like that, what was the purpose?
rampart blaster ftk was everywhere in 2008. trust me (do not)
Rampart Blaster always worked that way, but only because of a dumbass ruling that you had to look up or else get sharked at locals. In the anime, it worked like how that text looks like it worked, but in the real game, Tewart's crack squad of Good Readers Who Understand Languages declared that "can attack directly" means "can attack, but only if it would be a direct attack".
Dark Strike Fighter was the bane of my existence before its ban...(well before its errata)
Elemental HERO Burstinatrix is not the only monster to have flavor text Errota
Nekogal #1 also had it’s flavor text changed but in it’s case it never had a reprint and the change is only on it’s yugioh-card entry
also with Slime Toad/Frog the Jam, there were a couple other cards with name changed, likely to be less "aggressive" or religious as they've been doing for a long time. Trial of Nightmare's original name was Trial of Hell, as well as Dark Assailant originally named Dark Assassin
When you see what they did to Goyo:
"Look how they've massacred my boi"
"I'll NEVER forgive the Japanese!" 😭
"daddy i'm japa -"
"NEVER FORGIVE!!!"
The funniest thing with Kinetic Soldier's name change is that this time it was OCG that did an oopsie, but because OCG is OCG they just kept the card as the part of the Cipher archetype and made TCG turn a completely unrelated card into a Cipher card. Thank you very kool
"Pigeonholing Books of Spell"
I dunno what exactly pigeonholing a book is, but I don't think any Prophecy players were clamouring for this card's errata
I actually remember finding out about the Exchange of the Spirit erata a few years ago when i was begining to want to get back into yugioh, in 5th grade I was lucky enough to pick up a Shonen Jump magazine that feature Exchange as its Promo and built a deck around turboing it out as quickly as possible. the deck itself was medium as hell but I remember loving the card so much. Fast forward to when i was 24 and having my heartbroken finding out they had Erata'ed the card to the point of unplayability
Thanks to 1:14, I happy to see direYGO loves The Living Tombstone XD
I honestly don't get why Red Eyes B. Chick got hated on so much by Konami.
Like, Slime Toad/Frog the Jam makes sense cuz its typing and level was more of coincidence and it was never intended to work with Frog support.
But Red Eyes B. Chick? It was literally designed as one of the first direct support cards for Red Eyes. The fact that it kept getting excluded from future support to the point that it got its name changed to Black Dragon's Chick makes no sense because it's not like it was any better if it wasn't excluded. Who cares if the Japanese name didn't mention Red Eyes? It was made to be part of the family, but it got ostracized because of a technicality.
That's bullshit.
If anything they should've just erratad the ocg version and change the name to red eyes
Often the way it works with such things is that even though the card name would say red eyes the official tcg ruling would be that you couldn’t treat it as a red eyes monster because it wasn’t in the ocg
@@jamismiscreant7514 I know, but in this case Konami should have bit the bullet and just added the Chick to the Red Eyes family in the OCG name. It makes no sense to design Red Eyes support and not have future support be compatible with it.
Again, a change like that is not gonna make the deck broken, so why ostracize the poor baby like that?
Support that doesn't share a name is just another deliberate way Konami nerfs archetypes they don't want to push
Chick is more a counterpart to Kaibaman, which also isn’t a Blue-Eyes card.
This video really made my whole day. Thank god for simple card text cause a lot of those are just wacky
The necrovalley mentioning type and attribute is because of… I think the archetype was elementsaber, as well as heros, who gain effects based on the number of attributes in the GY.
A darkness approaches really hurt me. I had a meme deck that centered around that card back in 2009.
most hated errata for me back in the day was fairy king truesdale, he was actually super strong for his time 2200 base 6 star monster that had the effect to boost the attack of all plant monsters (which he was) by 500 making him better than summoned skull at the time and really strong if you stacked him (this was 2005?ish so trib summoning was a thing still)
They out of nowhere a year later made it so his effect only works while in defense mode in an erratta announcement one day....(I was running him in tourney decks a lot till then at locals)
3:03 I mean technically, there is the field spell "Despia, theater of the branded," though the correction can still search it anyways so...
Frog The Jam is the kind of name only the coolest of cool dudes can have.
"Corporate needs you to find the difference between these two archetypes"
**Hands in Despia and Branded**
...
"They're the same archetype :)"
For Ring of Destruction, I saw a video where it did get a tie on Master Duel because of how the chain link resolved. It was super weird, but it worked and I’m still confused as to the how.
I love stuff like this.
Also, the thumbnail for the video? Beautiful
I remember my introduction to necrovalley was the GX anime, where cards whose effects were activated from the graveyard were valid.
4:28 Same with that junk (turbo?) synchro monster from 5DS that was fire then wind then fire then idk anymore attribute but legit had it one attribute in NDS games and then a different one in a binder then another attribute in Duel links evolution lol
That bit of song with Puppeteer knocked the air out of my lungs
Damn!
That Diamond Dire Wolf really got the bad end of the stick. 😂😂😂
I did not expect the use of Discord barley a minute in, good stuff.
these are pretty entertaining and I hope you put out more
Fun fact, there is one Despia spell/trap, "Despia, Theater of the Branded"
Interesting idea, old errata tournament? Modern sets but with old erratas to see how they would break the game.
Necrovalley when this card is face up on the field cards cannot leave the graveyard.
9:00 so you could destroy Relinquished by battle, when it had monster equipped, if you attacked it with a monster with equal attack, as it had protection only from higher attack monsters.
One of my favorites is all the recruiters from back in the day. Y'know, your Mystic Tomatoes, Shining Angels, and Pyramid Turtles. They all included the text "no Tribute is required for monsters Level 5 or more".
Another favorite is the original OCG Pot of Greed. Translated, it says "Pull 2 cards from your Deck. Destroy Pot of Greed after it is played."
Let's not forget that Amazoness Warrior was the only monster to have it's ATK receive an errata, because they fucked up and originally printed her with less ATK than she should have had.
What a powerful card that you have to physically destroy it after playing it
Not exactly the same, but I like how, ever since they fucked up with the name appropriation effect of Cyber Harpie Lady, and Harpie Lady #1-#3, all cards that appropriate another card's name only does so in specific spots in the game, so you don't have to choose between it or the card whose name it appropriates to put in your deck. (Context: the aforementioned cards say "This card's name is ALWAYS treated as "Harpie Lady", which was never errata'd, so the rulings for them say that you HAVE to play only 3 copies of those cards and Harpie Lady COMBINED, instead of having 3 copies of each, in your deck. Nowadays, if a card's name is treated as another card's name, it's usually with the stipulation "it's treated as "__________" in the "Hand/Field/GY/Banished/Deck" (that last part now being possible thanks to the new Suship card), without needing to pick and choose which cards in which quantities that total 3 you can have.)
Ooh, what about Counter Counter? Anyone remember the flub-up with that card? No? Imagine this: because of a misprint that took away an essential symbol on the card, we had the only Normal Trap... that could be chained to and negate Counter Traps.
Even worse were the extra Deck neospacians, the nomis meant to be summoned by NEX. It made the mechanic even worse when it was a bad archetypal metamorphosis in the first place.
Konami caught on tho, and just printed 2 monsters, even Konami realized it worse than the Cocoon neospacians
This just reminded me that not even a year ago (I think) they initially misprinted Breath of Acclamation as a normal spell instead of a ritual spell.
While I understand Goyo doesn't need the errata currently, it is the type of errata I'd prefer to see for most overtuned extra deck monsters if they were to get one. The effect remains consistent but the card's no longer generic.
As long as Dark Strike Fighter remains a hard once per turn it's fine right? The main phase 1 restriction seems unnecessary except for not wanting it to attack & burn in the same turn.
it getting to attack _and_ burn was one of the primary reasons it got banned
it was cowboy for game on a bigger monster, for bigger burn, in a format where both those things mattered even more than, y'know, the format where _literally every deck that could make rank 4s was running cowboy._ it even worked through skill drain! i don't think that was ever actually _relevant,_ but still!
There were once an Overpowered card, that is balanced through the effect of tributing a Fusion, A Synchro, an XYZ and a Ritual/Pendulum Monster to summon it. (I sadly forgot it's name to look it up)
But on the first print, it didn't say "and". They said "or" which means they needed just one of the 4 types instead of all 4, which was SO EASY to achieve.
Supreme King Z-Arc maybe?
Mbt: dont put that in there
Dire/Vlad/whoever edited this: and i took that personally
the 1st Ed starter deck kaiba print of Lord of D. made dragon types unaffected by all of the opponents card effects instead of just making them untargetable as it does with the current errata.
Brain Control was also nerfed... I have both old and new cards. The newest one just lets you target a monster that can be normal summoned, while the old one is basically Change of Heart but with 800 LP cost
The last effect of new Necrovalley specifically hits Elementsabers which is hilarious
