Hynotama | You must at least admit the quality of narrative and characters have been massively improved. Visual design, too. Dad Kratos looks so much better then Young Kratos, with that full beard and less ridiculous scarring. I hated that god-awful mid-2000s-rockband-goatee with a burning passion.
Although the game could have seriously done with more enemy variety, it made up for it in spectacular scale. I don't care WHAT you think of it, you can't deny set-pieces like the corpse of the giant stonemason was freakin' awesome. And that opening boss fight with "The Stranger?" God DAMN.
Kratos: "Never offer help, it's insulting to the ego. They'll ask if they need it."

Kratos is not a bad father. Throughout the entire game he does a great job of disciplining his son without ever resorting to physical violence! This is the character development I always wanted for him!
Megashark 101 he only uses violence against those he deems necessary of being violent towards... I mean did u even see him with his daughter? It was clear he was haunted by being tricked into killing her.

Actually, the puzzles that require the axe cannot be deemed to be convenient because the story tells you later that kratos's wife (who could see the future and planned out the entire journey that they would take) made those puzzles so that noone else but the weilder of the axe could get past. She even painted those ledges yellow to show kratos which way to go

axel __ well without getting into time dilation theories, the yellow marks are actually from Faye (Kratos’ wife, Atreus’ mother). Atreus mentions that he wishes his mom was there (on their journey), and while not corporeal, she was guiding the way. Remember time moves much faster in Jotunheim.

the reason all the ledges are painted yellow is because the kids mom saw the future and painted every ledge he'd climb on their journey so Kratos wouldn't get lost.
also she saw that they'd need a convenient ice axe so she had the dwarves make a convenient ice axe.
she also made the boys bow and quiver, so she probably rigged it to break so Kratos would use one of the mistletoe arrows to fix it.
Sparrow rigged it to break? It looks like a completely normal wooden bow aside from being slightly thicker. It shouldn't be that hard to break anyways.

I really don't understand how can someone regard GoW 4 as reboot, even a soft one. It got all the features of a sequel and none of reboot. Reboot would most importantly mean one thing - new game would be as if the events of past games never happened and that's simply not true in GoW 4.
Different mythology or camera doesn't make it reboot...
Stormik It’s a reboot, because it’s totally different from the previous games in almost every aspect, except the intensity of the battles. It changed the whole game system, the morality of Kratos, and it reinvented itself. Of course, it’s not a reboot of the story, in that regard it is a sequel, but it’s a soft reboot of the franchise.

I'm glad people are accepting the new name for the revitalized series, "Dad of Boy". I'm not into video games, but I'm VERY into great stories. And this game had a fantastic story.
*OK LET'S SETTLE THIS "BOY" THING*
Early on in the development of the game, the character who is now known as "Atreus" was nameless. They didn't decide a name until further on into development. The reason why Kratos refers him as "boy" for the most part, is because during the voice acting process he was a no named character. Hence they were able to get away with calling the boy "boy" Atreus lines were dubbed way later into the game.
Jorge Yan Now that makes it funnier, but also more nonsensical. Why would they do the voice lines before they named all the characters...

You'd be surprised how common a man addressing their kid mostly as "boy" or "son" can be. The parent knows their name, but reserves it for moments of pride, seriousness or when the kid screwed up and is owed a whooping. That was my childhood anyway! 😆
Well, if the devs didn't think calling the boy "boy" would suit Kratos and would be just a good little indicator for the state of their father-son relationship, they surely would have come up with some name in order to avoid "the boying".
Throughout the game Kratos calls his son a boy and only by the end does he start calling him "son". I think the developers knew what they were doing.

@Deepak Singh there is no expansion from god of war as the creator stated . I think it doesn't contribute to the story or maybe it will be in the next game because that's where Odin and Thor live.
@Deepak Singh god of war games do not believe in expansions which in a way a good thing, it gives the full game then takes them like 5-6 years to make another game . It was there just to tell you they are 9 realms, why kratos would go to the aesir gods realm? Their objective is to go to the mountain.
