  • I was excited to try out the Neje 3 Max V2 as it has many of the features I look for in a laser and in a wider format! At just over 30" wide it gives almost double the working area of typical diode lasers while maintaining an orientation that will work well for an enclosure and keep access easy to the working area. Paired with the E80 module that boasts 20w of optical laser power, this laser can cut through most 1/4 material including plywood and even cut 3/4" clear aspen or pine.
    I test out a number of materials with this laser and see how it performs with a 30" wide sign. So far I'm liking this and can't wait to get it into an enclosure and put it to work!

      Awesome! Thank you! Also keep an eye on the Neje 4 Max as well. It adds the motorized Z axis that give you the additional options of Auto Focus, step down cutting focus as well as a pen plotter and cutting tool for things like Vinyl! I'll be sorting out an enclosure for this one soon!

      Once you extend it is there any chance you can go between the 2 sizes for say like if I got it then someone wanted a bigger design then I could put it back to normal for like home

      That would be a nice large working area! I'm liking the laser so far, it's not the most powerful machine in my shop but the form factor and other features make it one of the nicer ones to use! Hopefully it keeps plugging away!

    That was a great review! I have the Neje 3 Max but it has the A40640 laser module that runs on 12V power. I was wanting to upgrade to the E80 module.... it runs on 24V power. Did you have to do any sort of modifications to the Neje motherboard or did you just plug in the E80 and go to work?

    • @Vintauri
      @Vintauri  6 месяцев назад

      I used only what came with my kit and it already had the E80 module. So the board was already set up for it. I'm not sure if there are differences in the board for the V1 version due to the voltage differences.

    Just got mine 3max V2! They advertise that focus point is square! Not true! Is rectangular. Y direction is stronger than X direction!
    The 3 little screws that hold and lock the module are very hard to reach ,so I made a shallow groove on their head, and now I can use a flat screwdriver! The belt tensioners is not something important! You can use the machine for a long time before you need to change or reset the tension, i think they include them to make more attractive the final package

    Is it possible to cut into aluminum blocks to engrave them?

    • @Vintauri
      @Vintauri  5 месяцев назад

      Not with a diode laser, you'll need a Fiber laser to cut into metals.

    Great video! Just bought the 3 max v2 myself and still figuring out. This helps immensely. How are you focusing it, l have not seen a distance to set the laser at. Again thanks for the review and info.

    • @Vintauri
      @Vintauri  11 месяцев назад

      The manual states that the focal distance from the bottom of the module to the top of the material is 25mm. So for now I'm using a 123 block and using the 1" side to roughly focus the machine on the surface. Once I get it dialed in, I'll make a custom focus tool with the exact focus for surface, as well as for cutting 1/8" and 1/4" materials. Here is a link to the block I'm using. They are very handy to have in the shop. amzn.to/3PXyljt

      With what I’ve seen from both, I would go with the Neje for my use. Stay tuned for Clacks review on the Neje 4 though! The upgrades on that version and how they do the powered z axis look very cool!

    Hello,
    I need some help with the NEJE E80. I have a NEJE 3 Max V2. The laser module stopped working in the middle of a cutting action and it doesn't turn on. I checked the power supply and it's good. If I remove the plugs from the laser module the rest of the machine works normally (the stepper motors, USB connection, etc. ) except the E80. The LED light doesn't turn on on the lase module and there is no light emmitting on the laser diode. Also with the laser module plugged in when I power it on it makes some short movements on the stepper motors and the power source and mainboard a green LED light is blinking. Please tell me if the E80 module is dead and needs replacement. A new module is quite expensive and I just have it working for only less than three monts.

    • @Vintauri
      @Vintauri  8 месяцев назад

      Unfortunately it sounds like there may be something wrong with the module. I would reach out to Neje support. They do have a 2 year warranty on the E80 module so if it is bad they should replace it for you at no cost.

    • @rcdc7608
      @rcdc7608 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@RourkeKendrick the technical support did answer very quickly and the issue was two burned out capacitors on the laser module board. I just took them out and it's ass good as new. The board has 6 capacitors to filter the current and as far as they said you can take out 4 of them and the E80 would work just fine. I asked a seccond oppinion to a specialist and he said you can take all six capacitors out and the module will work fine but in this case you should be careful to have a good power supply with some protection circuit. The laser works without any problem since then. So far I can say that I am vey satisfied of the E80.

    Would you recommend this over a co2 laser for manufacturing production work? I would use it mostly to cut 1/8 inch birch plywood. Thank you.

    • @Vintauri
      @Vintauri  11 месяцев назад +1

      For a small business with a low budget, this should work well to get started, however to ramp up productivity on cutting 1/8" Birch plywood a 60w or higher C02 will easily double the speed of cutting those parts.

    could the belt tensioners not be mounted upside down so the adjustment was on top?
    This is a high contender on the list as my next diode. as I am looking for a 30-40 watt module, any reccomendations?

    • @Vintauri
      @Vintauri  10 месяцев назад

      I had that thought too, but the belt has a slot in the mount that it passes through that requires you to install it upright. Not having the tensioners installed was not a deal breaker for me, but it would be nice to have them functional.

    hi! what is your recommendation for a 20w diode laser? sculpfun s30 pro it would be a good choice in the ballpark of 600 dollars? thx

    • @Vintauri
      @Vintauri  11 месяцев назад +1

      The sculpfun is an okay laser, you should check out my video on the S30 Pro Max. It's the 20w laser just with the smaller working area. I talk about a few concerns in there about the air hose, and the focus adjustment knobs. I personally find the Neje format to be a better layout for me as I need the width and not as much depth. But they also have the extension rails to make it 40" deep.

      Primarily it’s the auto Z adjustment that allows you to set the focus based on a measurement and offset. There are some other minor differences as well but that is the main one.

    the instructions are absolutely worthless!..i didnt even find them till i was about done since they was in the bag with the cables..i struggled putting the frame together..the machining is too tight and off a little bit and that made the screws go into the extrusions want to cross thread..i fought hard to not strip the screws and ended up loosening the corner brackets from the extrusions which did help but those brackets are threaded into sliding nuts so the alignment went all over the place!..there is a special order to what parts and bolts of the frame to put together when you start, i wish i would have known that!!...i measured until i was a blue in the face trying to get everything in parallel but only to end up with the frame still out of square..it was cutting large rectangles 3/16'' out of square..spent a another day trying to get it into square which was a pain!, there is nowhere to put a square on the thing!, had to trace lines down to a large sheet of paper so i could then check the square..i ended up putting a red bull shim on the gantry bolted connection on the board side..i finally got it to within 1/32'' out of square..the new model max 4 those sliding brackets are gone and are a part of the rail..they also did not include drag chains with the new max4 stating they was causing binding and was making the steppers work too hard so im on the fence about installing the drag chains on my max 3..other than all that i really like the machine lol
