Oh trust me, Truss *knew* she was going to be prime minister a good few weeks before it was announced. She sold her house up the road from my family about 2-3 weeks before the announcement, expecting that she would be at number 10 for the next 2 1/2 years lol
That's quite amusing. 😁
But also concerning, democracy wise.
Delicious
i think anyone that understands the tory party membership knew truss would be leader the second the final two iin the party leadership race were her and Sunak.
Or was she warned of a housing price collapse 🤔
"It wasn't because he was a liar, but because he was a liability."
Once a year is not enough for these chats.
More please!!
Thanks for this hour of sanity in an unpleasant world and particularly thanks to Ian for mentioning the bravery of the Iranian football team. Awesome courage that highlighted the pathetic nature of the row about armbands.
Love this interview. You and Oli have my respect.
Is it time for revolution yet?
💙👍🏻💛FIFA and corruption 😱
I both admire and envy Ian Hislop’s innate ability to be cheerful when surrounded by so much shit.
Oh I don't know, it wasn't that bad an interview.
@@pauldaviesantiques1556 trash talking.
You do nothing for the poor as piivate schoolboy and entitled King Cnut interviews privately educated and privileged King Cnut. VILE.
He covered this, it isn’t all shit.
Some of us admire you Peter...a lot.
Amazing conversation that lasted almost an hour and didn't even feel it. Thanks!
Unbiased integrity. A man with morals.
Ian is amazing, this dialogue gives me hope for Britain
Fuck me thats a bold thing tae say lmao
I wish there were more people like Ian. It would be a much better world.
Why?
I agree, he is very sexy
@@goodyeoman4534 more people telling straight facts and common sense rather than lies and believing your life on social media is more important than reality.
I absolutely love this man. Another national treasure to add to the list
Was once. BBC bitch now.
The fact he's not had a knighthood shows how much the establishment hates being shown their own dirty laundry
@@tobypettit6417 Why would he take a knighthood from the establishment he holds in contempt.
@@petefl1818 Fair point, maybe Chief Editor of the BBC or a seat in the House of Lords would be more appropriate.
@@petefl1818 Plus, I think it would be unfair to say he holds the establishment in utter contempt, he works for the BBC and gives credit (albeit sparingly) where it is due.
Ian is absolutely brilliant in his summations, great interview ❤
Always entertaining listening to Ian Hislop, he articulates events as they happened not as others would like us to believe!
I pressed the thumbs up before watching the video. Love these interviews.
Ian Hislop is a national treasure.... love this guy and everything he stands for. ❤
Moved to Canada a couple of years ago (phew). Very reassuring that at least one national treasure from the old country is still firing on all four cylinders. Good on you Ian, keep fighting the good fight.
lol
Un lucky you!
Canada (phew) I wouldn't say that, Canada is going down a hole like everywhere else.
Love Canada 🇨🇦
A great interview, Ian Hislop combines insight with intelligent humour. The thread running through the interview that the decision makers live in a universe that has no connection with the reality the rest of us inhabit.
Just love these interviews For me Ian Hislop is just amazing and “ Honest “ speaks his mind and no Bullshit .
Very few like him .
This man helped me when nobody else did. What a gent.
I laughed delightfully thank you two so much even if I am 4 months late.
Excellent stuff - cuts right through the hubris, hype and humbug!
Could listen to this man for hours on end.
I went to a talk he gave in our town regarding a satirical cartoon exhibition in our museum, very, very interesting man, love him.
Re-watching this, I get the impression Ian really wants/trusts Oli to have a conversation. Great stuff. Oli for Private Eye editor!!! :)
Really brilliant interview, thank you so much!
Really Enjoyed that. Grown up, balanced, funny, informed. 👍🏼
Really enjoyed that Interview! Ian Hislop is such a treat to listen to! A man who has his marbles intact and can laugh gently at the follies of others!
Great guy - actually tells us what's really going on and offers genuine well thought out commentary. Could teach the msm a thing or two.
God bless Ian Hislop, it's so nice to know you're not going mad and we really do have the absolute worst government in history
I mean I’m no fan of this government, but it’s not the worst government in history. It’s not even the worst British government
Until the next one, imagine this government but stuffed with diversity hires and children
Wonderful interview. Good chemistry between these two.
Who loves that there's a razor and shaving foam behind Ian and a spare change of clothes behind Ollie?
yeah it's brillant
I loved this and I’m not even British, except by heritage. Thanks for the wrap-up and pointed commentary.
Great talk chaps, thanks really enjoyed it.. Such a pleasure to watch honesty. However as I mentioned in my last post I still believe politics as we have today is no longer fit for purpose. They Both used words such as delusional and fantasy, says it all really.
Ian Hislop is brilliant. I disagree with him on many political matters, but he's a very perceptive commentator, amusing speaker and writer. I'd love to go for a few drinks with him. A real National Treasure.
Thank God for Ian Hislop...even though I'm not religious!
Ian Hislop what a gem a very brave hero who does his job with passion honesty and hubris.
Loved this review and discussion of 2022. A month in the UK is equivalent to 6 months 10 yrs ago.
What a mess we are in ....here and abroad but I still can't get my head around the fuel and power prices compared with Europe ....as per we are paying a lot more for the same product and all this in plain sight.
What an untidy office ! makes me like Ian even more !!! love the shaving foam
Hislop is a national treasure
I would love to see Ian Hislop chair question time,he would be brilliant at grilling the politicians. Can’t see him letting them off the hook without answering the questions.
He has been on as a panellist, of course.
I would pay good money to see him grill the politicians and them squirming
Recommended: his encounter on QT with Priti Patel.
BBC news and current affairs is run by Tory party members so that's never gonna happen.
Really good and enjoyable interview. Thank you both
Great piece. Thanks both.
I do approvate Ian’s sprinkle of positivity about the future near the end there. Think I needed to hear that, even if it’s just a little.
Well.. Things cannot get any better until we get rid of this appealing tory government.. then maybe a little sunshine on the horizon
Dropped a big clanger there! For appealing read APPALLING!
Never expected UK politics to be more entertaining than Italian...🤔
or corrupt!
I was always proud of the fact that the word most of my foreign friends used to describe British politics was "boring". It meant we were doing it right.
Britaly
@@fuckbankers ..if you multiply that by Londongrad, what you get is pretty much the current state of affairs..
@@bipolarminddroppings the only time I could describe it as boring would be during the Tory/libdem coalition. Because nothing is more boring than those two parties
A dose of common sense. Never trust someone with a tidy office. Couldn't help noticing a can of shaving foam and a razor under a stack of papers - class act. Ian cheers me up.
Also a shirt hanging up !!
Yes yes yes……a ‘real’ office where thinking takes place….
Omg this is the most sane interview I've heard since 2019!
Ian Hislop is a national treasure. Would love to see him recognised with a knighthood.
I’ve a feeling he won’t get one after ‘Andrew is a nonce’ comment, not that he would care.
Knighthoods are a joke, as proven time and time again.
I don't think he would even think of accepting such a thing and after the latest batch of peerages.....!!!
I’m excited to see another interview with Ian Hislop by Oli Dugmore, after the last one was so good! And it’s 52 mins long! 🤗 Maybe I shouldn’t be settling in to enjoy this at gone midnight on a Wednesday night… but here we are! 🎉
Me too! Got to find the time from somewhere mind.
I'm a man that will skim the headlines every morning. But in NO way would I call myself interested in politics. But watching a man that lives and breathes politics, I felt a kinship in the way we both perceive the government and the world in general
I love these videos! Ian is a fascinating man to listen to at length on a wide variety of topics.
I’m loving this mix of Politics Joe and Ian Hislop ❤
An Irish first cousin (I am a American), while an asssistaht principal in the UK, was immensely amused by the British addiction to queueing up, demonstrated this odd habit by claapping his hands and telling the recreating kids to queue up. He pointed out how happy they looked. Repeated three times. The kids just as happy through each round.
It’s called manners of which many other countries are lacking
Great reminder to buy this year's copy. Just got mine!
Lover Hislop's laugh, just like elmer fudd! What a treasure: smart, has a moral compass and is funny.
Excellent interview. Ian hislops a national treasure
I liked it when Charles decided to host a pre-cop “party” which stuck two fingers up at the Govt
Excellent work “politics Joe” best interview I’ve seen with Hislop
Wonderful discussion. Great work the both of you.
