Martin, when you were painting the doors and windows, I had an idea. If you were to pint a base coat, (the original paint when the barn was new), you could then use your "Chipping Technique" to have a newer paint on top, but the old paint showing through in places, especially where hands interact with the doors in the usual places, like around the locks and where the farmer pushes the doors closed. In this way, it would be just like painting a tank where the paint was scuffed by walking on it, etc.
You skipped mentioning the weeds growing out of the roof tiles on the shed. They really add a sort of life and dimensionality, selling the effect. That wood is stellar as well. Cheers, friend.
You may have waited many years to create a building, but your practice at building everything else paid off! Bravo! Excellent use of materials that are not always common. Your painting skills definitely transferred to structures.
For one who claims to never have done something like this... all I can say is Whoa! The subtle colorvariations on the bricks and rooftiles are top notch! Also I love the name "Slimey Grime"
Absolutely mind-blowing these crafts! I wish you would do more of these builds (again). I love every detail of it. Thank you for sharing. Have you ever thought about creating a course to share your knowledge in more detail with people? I think you would be a great teacher
The bad part, it actually looks like a new building that someone built , just by the colors of the materials. The real wood, the grey roof looks metallic, the bricks, metal hinges and mortar are also natural colors. I added this part at the end., beautiful!!!!😁😁😁😁
@@lordzombey1337 I see, finding a good foam can be tricky. It has to be the densest foam you can find. For example, I bought a large slab of Styrodur 2800C the other day and while it looked okay at a first glance, it's too coarse, but it could work with some extra effort. The higher the number, the denser the foam is gonna be.
As an architect, you did a fabulous job designing the building. The exterior looks amazing with the combination of wood and brick. The roof has a steep pitch proper for Eastern Europe and the elements and the roof tiles graciously fit the space above. Kudos to you mah friend.
If you're thinking of more dioramas, then I highly recommend Laser Creation World. Lots of different and great techniques put on display on that channel.
For someone who doesn't do buildings, this has been a great tutorial series showing your thought process and how much fun you have making these videos. Thanks Martin. Love your work!
Wife and i have always watched your stuff even the Blooper. We say ready to see uncle night Shift. So yeah Friday for us is the best time . Especially like everyone here say .....MY FRIENDS.
This is SO COOL!!!!!! My history of model painting comes from Warhammer which is generally 100% acrylic. I love seeing all the different techniques and products available and how to use them successful
@@NightShiftScaleModels Totally agreed! I'm very happy with the work I've accomplished with them. Mainly my eyes have just been opened now that I'm trying my hand at Gundam painting. Every product has its place :) Wonderful job on your videos. I'm a new viewer but I'm so happy to have your videos as a resource!
Ive been wondering what it would be like if you did stuff like this. I really hope you do even more because unlike so many in this kinda hobby. You add your tank painting patience to a hobby where everyone slaps a base coat adds a wash highlight a few things and bam thats it. Lol they arent painting individual wood planks and i fing love it
That broken glass kit is definitely microscope glass. It works like a dream! It's just a bit unpredictable when you're cutting it, but that probably comes down to a proper cutting technique.
Thank you for your videos. I’m sure I speak for many people when I say this; Life can make you question things, relationships, life decisions. Your videos truly take my mind off of the chaos and uncertainty of this world we all share. Idk how many mile between us, or if we will ever say a word to each other, you’ve helped in ways I can’t explain. From depression/anxiety issues. Your videos give me the break I need. A moment to stop and remember that everything in life is to be cherished, BIG or .. smaLL! I wish the best to you mah friend. Thankyou for the distraction! You spark my modeling side everytime! I wish the best of health
I love when you say you've never done this before lol then I can't help to hear hold my brush haha awesome job and looking forward to the finish diorama
I just wanted to say thank you for making these videos! I have learned so much from seeing you actually use the techniques as opposed to reading about them in a magazine or book. My dad and I have both had head smack moments when we're said "so that's how you do that!" Keep up the great work!
You’ve got the skills “Myyyyy Friennnnd”..That seriously is Next level model building. The detail is so convincing and will add a level of realism to the tank that’s going to sit by it. Excellent job! Looking forward to next weeks episode!
That is a work of art, the colour blending in wood work, the bricks, the roof, the decay and dirt, perfect. The material you used for the windows, didnt expect that. There is an old out house in yard at the end of a street I've passed all my life, that building looks so much like your model.
Yup made my evening. Have painted military models since I was in grade school. Yeah some of those lovely snap together types that make us cringe now were among the starters. Seeing a "heads up" from Night Shift means popcorn and kick back. Always up for seeing how someone else does it. Most of my painting now is for this or that table top game, but the occasional diorama of "this picture of Grandpa" comes in. Almost all Vietnam era stuff now with around 15 of this or that from Desert Storm or Iraqi/Enduring Freedom. Thanks for the ideas. Have tried a few though still not a fan of oil paints.
“It looks like a Barbie house if Barbie lived in Eastern Europe!” That part took the cake! This looks amazing, I’m very happy you tried something new!
Her name would be Branislava, though :D
You know its eastern europe when you live in a village.

How about "hello fellow modellers"?
exactly the same feeling every week

The best thing that you test different techniques and even post some mistakes etc. I appreciate that. Most RUclipsrs won't share any mistakes.
so excited to enjoy this one and im here less than a min after drop. excited!!!

Still probably my favourite night shift building, it just looks so good, a perfect balance of everything
Those shingles came out amazing
Ah yes, I've been excited for this episode
These video's are the highlight of my week, after a week of working, this is like heaven!

Hi NightShift, thanks for inspiring me to make a building myself, i Made a factory front And a 1946 Diorama is planed :D
How many floors does it have? It sounds like a brick-wall heaven 😁
@@NightShiftScaleModels sadly only one, i have no good foam like you so i had to use plaster bricks which are unbelivably fragile

So many colours and layers - but such wonderful, photographic results.

Easiest diorama building tutorial. Finally you motivated me to try this!

Quick tip, for the glass matting the back really helps with blocking the view inside.
Sexy build. Love it
I love your tank videos, but I think this is my favorite ever.
While the whole thing looks really good to me I am particularly impressed by the wear and decay to the bottom of the doors

Dear Uncle NightShift, once again youve knocked it out of the park. intimidating work.
Most realistic old barn I ever saw. A lot of work. Thanks for sharing.
When I was making model of a totally rusted T-44, I made a walk around some abandoned tractors parked in my village. It helped me a lot🙂
Terrific work! I was dubious about the black window areas but the addition of the cracked and painted windows took care of any worries. 👍🏻
I have just one thing to say : this is a masterpiece !!! Really it's awsome !

Do you paint pictures? You are definitely an artist.
Very nice and meticulous work! I would add a downspout and maybe some ropes or wire hanging on the side of the building. Looks exquisite.
