      It needs the human element. Drunks, thugs, bums and whores, tired truckers, pot bellied cops. Disgruntled fry cooks, and sad waitresses. It would great if it exuded the smell of fryer grease, and cigarettes. In my 30s I ate at Waffle House, every day, when I worked 2nd shift, at a factory. The food was good, plenty of variety, and endless coffee refills. Back then you could smoke at your table..

    • @tr7198
      @tr7198 21 день назад +8

      It's both forbidding and enabling
      It's forbidding you physical entrance due to it's small scale but visually promotes investigation in appearance.
      As possessive in nature we want to own and hold and control an item and respectively dominate in comparison to our own scale.
      Unlike full sale which allows us to enter this small scale allows us to hold it in our hands so to speak.
      Salesman samplers use this idea in prototype manufacturing where the model appears first as a visual concept.

      @@tr7198 yeah but i have a thing for collecting mini arcade cabinets. im not sure why either!

    • @tr7198
      @tr7198 21 день назад +4

      @WayTooLiteral
      This is what RC planes and cars boats and model railroad. It's all about being able to hold in your hands.
      People with new cars will also buy a small scale if possible and place it in a display case. Wanting to hold it in their hands.
      Also as a means of fulfilling a fantasy without buying a real one.
      Mini arcade games?

      Lighting Geeks Unite!
      Differing CCTs in the same space drive me bonkers. It happens way too frequently. Some business owners need a lesson as to how light levels and CCT help or hurt business. What's worse is HIGH CCT LEDs like they use in Asia. Anything above 5000K is too "blue" for my preference, 2700K to 3500K is the sweet spot for retail and general lighting.

    I loved watching you build that model. I used to build scale models, and I enjoyed making them as realistic as possible. Worn a little bit,...aged by cigarette smoke. Even in the 1980s, you could buy at hobby stores, brick sheets, with adhesive backs. What didn't exist could be made from making color xeroxes, of realist floor tiles, scaled down. I have a friend, who made living building scale model buildings, for Architects. He made everything from balsa wood, painted realistically. Eventually, the computer age products, put him out of business. Architects didn't want spend thousands of dollars, on a realistic versions of the building they had designed, to show their clients. Then virtual reality programs were created, so instead of a realist scale models, they'd have realist drawings that came to life and interiors, you could move around within. All viewed on a computer.

    Excellent work, but your handicap parking spots should be in front of the entry door. Not at the other end of the parking lot.

    I am so blown away! I honestly have no idea how you do details like this. Somehow you just zero in on what’s most important, and then you make it, perfectly. My brain just doesn’t see like that. Even if I tried to look at it for tiny details I would get bored and start doing some thing else. And honestly, I almost felt bad for you that you had to do the inside and then I was like hooray! More to look at! and of course it’s amazing! You really are astonishingly talented! And as always, I love the mix of high-tech, low-tech, and no tech😂

    Beautiful work and attention to detail. I am an HVAC guy and I for your self-admitted limited knowledge, you did a fantastic job with the Carrier Roof Top Units. The gas pipe support blocks are called HEF-T-FEET which made the layout very authentic looking. Like wise with the electrical wiring, very realistic. If you ever do other building’s with RTU’s (Roof Top Units) please consider using Daikin Brand Logos. I’ll look forward to view other projects.

    This build is so clean, which is simultaneously an incredible compliment and constructive criticism:
    Brickwork and imperfect interior arrangements make this incredibly convincing to the eye
    On other hand -- especially in locales where it rains somewhat often -- buildings get weathering and more grime coming down the sides of anything that overhangs. Even if you want a cleaner look, I think a very restrained application of weathering would bring that realism up a notch.
    Superb work

    Your modal was a joy to watch being made. I did a doll house and used a lot of balsa wood for the base boards etc, I did find some brick paper at the doll house store, it really has a nice finish and is easy to apply. I did most of the paintings myself and used the balsa wood again for the frames. I also added ceder shingles on the roof. The house was Victorian and had lots of floors. Again love how realistic yours is. FAB!!
