Thank you! It was definitely challenging for me to recreate the melting snow look as it was my first time doing it. So I’m really glad to hear that you like it! Thanks again for watching!
Great tip about sealing the balsa with diluted PVA, I have struggled with that very problem. Yours is the most useful channel I have yet found for dio makers because you so clearly explain what you're doing, and also the builds are top tier every time. Master-level work, sir.
Thank you so much!!! I’m glad that you found that tip helpful. I only recently started sealing my balsa wood with diluted PVA, but I’ve found it to make a big difference. It means a lot to know that the videos are clear and helpful! Thanks for your kind words and for supporting the channel!
what am i doing here, i don't even do miniature building, i'm supposed to be studying for a test, i actually hate winter, it is still the best 30 minutes ive wasted in my life.
I made a set piece from the bathroom scene in the Psycho film and it had unfinished walls and such like youd see behind the scenes in a Soundstage. It's fun to deliberately make unfinished pieces
Wattle and daub is a different technique, like what you used on your medieval tavern diorama. Chinking is essentially the same material, but refers to the material that is used to fill in the gaps between the logs in a log home. I love that you did the dovetail notch, it really adds to the authenticity and looks really great.
Thank you so much for the detailed explanation of the real life process! And I’m glad you like the dovetail notch! Thanks again for watching and for continuing to support the channel!!
Just getting into diorama building and there is a long way ahead if I am ever going to tackle anything like this. Just beautiful! One question that I'd like to ask is as I've seen PVA+water mix used as a sealant for wood elsewhere too. I made a couple of experiments myself with different ratios, but all my test pieces warped like a cork-screw! Those larger wall timbers of course will endure a lot more than like the door or sidewall upper pieces, is the warping a problem when thinner pieces are glued down to base/wall etc.? Some people also recommend shellac but I don't like the idea of it darkening/staining the wood and am a bit concerned about the acrylic paint working over it.
I think it's amazing 👏. Everything looks incredibly realistic, including the patchy snow that you were a bit unsure of. The _only_ thing that seems a bit unlikely to me is the snow on top of the chimney. Unless the cabin is uninhabited, they'd be keeping a fire going in snowy conditions. It would be hot at the top of the chimney, it wouldn't last - especially if it's starting to melt everywhere else. A minor detail
Thoroughly enjoyed it. Out of curiosity, why do you stain your wood after gluing them together? I have zero experience so easily could be wrong but I assumed it would be easier to toss all the pieces in a bowl of wash and then glue them
They both kinda feel like lightweight foam putty’s, and I’d say molding paste has a softer and smoother consistency when you spread it. However it also shrinks more than spackle
Hi there Smol World! I like how life-like your diorama sets look with the fine detail and all. Do you happen to have an email where i could reach you? I would love to get your expertise on a diorama myself of the fireplace from the haunting (1999) movie. That of which I'm currently working on thanks! 🙏💯🎨
I find the imperial system for measurements so wild! Americans are like “I’m gonna cut this to 15/67ths of an inch”. Just use millimetres - so much easier
Haha yeah you’re definitely right! But because I learned how to measure this way, and because I’m a stubborn American, I just find it easier. Thanks for watching!!
The windows are too perfect to be realistic! Look at old glass and it’s full of waves and imperfections from the process of making them! Other than that, awesome!
Love the melting snow look. Looking at it, I can remember the feel of cold, wet days like you've portrayed.

Ive been building scale stuff for my 24th scale remote control rock crawling jeeps. These videos give me so much inspiration

im wanting to build a REAListic house-[undeer construction status] with fine wire in walls and small tubing for plumbing
That sounds like an awesome project!!

Now all you need is the Beverly hillbillies truck next to the cabin add some life to it you did a great job I think Round2 makes the truck I mentioned
That would be a great detail to add!! Thanks for sharing that, and thanks for watching!!
Excellent, especially love the ax hewn marks!
Thank you so much!! It was a fun and quick detail to add. Thanks for watching!

Awesome!!! Love your builds and your videos, all of it well done!!!
Thank you!!! I’m so happy to hear that, I really appreciate your support!!!
When adding static grass, does it matter if you “ground” the applicator in the wet glue or not?
A nice addition would be some icecicles on the porch and make the ground look a lil wet and muddy where it's melty
Thank you!! Those are some great details to add!!!
I'd like to see you make a Tipi and diorama
Thats amazing 😮
ooh, yet another amazing build wow
I love the look of the whole thing, but idk why that chimney thing was just a little extra cool to me wow haha
Thank you very much, and glad you like the chimney! It’s away fun to carve stones out of foam. Thanks again for watching!
@@smolworldworkshop it does look like so much fun, I would love to try this kind of stuff once I have the space, it's awesome
Been waiting very eagerly for the next upload!
Thank you for waiting!! I hope you enjoyed the video and thanks for your support :)

Incredible!

*Neat*
Thank you!!
Awesome diorama! Do cottages of this style not have any latches or handles on the doors?
Thank you!! I think some do! That’s a good idea for a detail I can go back and add. Thanks for watching!
Круто
Thank you!!
Excellent
Thank you so much 😀
Amazing job!! Next time you should add wood to the area under the roof, where the chipboard is still showing 👍
Thank you!!! That’s a great idea, thanks for watching :)
how much time do these projects take ?
What's the difference between the Golden modeling paste and spackling?
They both kinda feel like lightweight foam putty’s, and I’d say molding paste has a softer and smoother consistency when you spread it. However it also shrinks more than spackle

Great video, it really does look amazing. Just a heads up, none of the channel links seem to work when I click on them (for me at least)
Thank you so much!! And thanks for letting me know about the links, I think I got them fixed!
The windows are too perfect to be realistic! Look at old glass and it’s full of waves and imperfections from the process of making them! Other than that, awesome!
Thank you so much!!! That’s a great point about the old glass!
@@smolworldworkshop maybe you could use clear glue and smear it around on the plastic
Nice
Thanks!
Cool 🏚
