This is the only video I could understand to make continuous binding! Placing the edges together to show the lines and then explaining that the lines have to be offset by one made it so clear to me, thank you!
Thank you for this video! I love the tip from one of your viewers to cut your square a multiple of the width of your binding. A tip from me - I slip a small cutting mat inside the tube so I can use a rotary cutter for cutting the strip. It’s easier, faster, and neater than using scissors.
I have watched 4 videos, with 4 different techniques and this is the only one that is explained slowly, and completely. I was able to follow along and it made sense. I have been sewing for 45 years and was always unsure and nervous about making bias tape until now. I am confident I can do it. A huge thanks!
I've been making a bias tube for years a this demo is terrific. When my tube is marked and ready to cut apart, I place the tube over the open end of my ironing board. So easy to make my bias strips. Thanks so much!
I watched a number of other videos and this is the most informative one I found. Thank you. I went to the piece I was trying to make and did it the first time.
Several other people said yours is the fourth video they have watched and the first they really understood. Add me to that list. My granddaughter told me I have ADD and hearing that was like a light bulb going off. Your description and all the hints plus the repetition finally helped me be able to make the binding. Thanks
Thank you so much! I finally understood how it's done! Btw: I experienced that, if you multiply the width of the bias you are aiming for, you don't end up with a last strip that is too narrow. (For instance: if you want a 5 cm bias, cut a rectangle of 20 x 20, 25 x 25, 30 x 30 and so on. For a 4 cm bias: 16 x 16, 20 x 20, 24 x 24 etc.) Thanks again, you made me save a lot of fabric!
This was the best 15 minutes of my day! I was trying to figure out if you could make continuous bias and it turns out you can. Thank you very much for your lovely tutorial.
Beth, I know I have thanked you in the past, but don't care, MUST THANK YOU AGAIN! In all the years of RUclips viewing and 'consulting' many RUclipsrs on this method yours always stands out ABOVE AND BEYOND. You are a splendid teacher and I hope I've made that crystal clear. Thanks again.
So helpful, especially all the little tips like marking 1/4 inch down on the marked lines so you can pin to ensure exact line up after the offset. A million thank you’s!
I have watched several instructions for this method. Yours was much more detailed and helpful tips . I may be able to be successful next time. Thank you.
Thank you so much! Took me 6 hrs to do this. I was really hung up on the step pinning the last seem to match up your lines. I watched 4 other videos and they just moved too fast. Watched over and over. Got it the first time on your video. I did have to keep going back to make sure I got all the steps. Came out awsome and the seams are beautiful!
I used to have a laminated card that showed this method but when I moved it wasn’t with my sewing items. The card gave square sizes and gave the number of inches that particular square would make. It also showed putting the right sides together and sewing them together. Also drawing the lines. I love this method and think it makes so much sense. I also agree that bias binding is stronger than straight binding for a usable quilt. I hope I can find a chart that shows those sizes. Sue Heinzelman.
Thank you so much Beth! This is a great tutorial!! It's very clear and you've got me so curious, that I think I'll just go and try it right now...many thumbs up and grazie mille!!!
Great instruction. But can you cut two different widths of bias from this one sewing of one square?example 2” and also 2 1/2 inch bias from one stitching of the square?
I've watched several videos on how to make bias binding and this is definitely the best. Thank you. How do I work out the size fabric I need. I used a yard square for a small throw and ended up with almost enough to make a full size quilt. !!!
when using a square piece of fabric does it matter where the selvege edge is placed ? on the #1 side of the fabric or # 2 sides of fabric ? should all selveges be removed before cutting and measureing ?
How do you figure what size square to cut to make the amount of binding you need? For example, if a quilt is 60x60, what size square do you need to make 240 inches for the binding?
Well that was more of the same. There are umpteen videos showing how to do this. But not a single one that I can find that DEMONSTRATES HOW to calculate the size square needed to make the amount of bias needed. Lots of people GIVE the formula. That means NOTHING to me. I would love it so much if someone anyone SHOWED me HOW to calculate it I have dyscalculia so telling me numbers is the same as giving me a book to read in ancient script. I won’t understand it. Tell me a hundred times. I won’t understand it a hundred times. SHOW me HOW and I’ll get it.
I heard from a previous video that it yields 4 yards of bias. You can make your own 18 inch square and measure after cutting and pass on what you measured.
The only question I have is... Does the choir sing when the sermon is being delivered? Any background noise destroys the delivery! Great presentation destroyed by music. They didn’t do it in school so why do they do it now?
That’s because she couldn’t be bothered to finish cutting the tube. But it is continuous all of the strips are automatically sewn together. Too bad she didn’t let us know how long the bias tape is from that square Fabric she started with. I found a much better video though. They don’t say anything in the video but the camera work is a lot better.

Thank you for taking the time to slowly show and explain the most difficult part- where to match the lines! Appreciate your tutorial very much!!

My granddaughter told me I have ADD and hearing that was like a light bulb going off. Your description and all the hints plus the repetition finally helped me be able to make the binding. Thanks
Thank you. Those little numbers make all the difference! I had a go with this method, and did far less head scratching than I normally do!

Great tip
I have been sewing over pins for 50 years 😊 Since learning this method this is the only type of binding I sew now
This was the best 15 minutes of my day! I was trying to figure out if you could make continuous bias and it turns out you can. Thank you very much for your lovely tutorial.
Oh thank thank you!! Could not get my head around this before, especially when using a plain fabric. The numbering has just made all the difference❣️
Excellent! Numbering the sides for the seaming sequence is brilliant! Thank you for this tutorial.

Ty so much you showed and explained better than any video I’ve watched on bias binding at least now I’m anxious to go give it a try
So helpful, especially all the little tips like marking 1/4 inch down on the marked lines so you can pin to ensure exact line up after the offset. A million thank you’s!
You are very intelligent! I have to watch your demonstration three times in order to understand better. Thank you!
Loved this instructor...so elegant and clear..straight forward directions and tips. Loved this.
Thank you for this video. Your instructions are easy to follow. With this method we can create bias binding a lot faster. Love it. Thank you again.
The absolute best and easiest way to make bias binding. Thank you.
I have watched several instructions for this method.
Yours was much more detailed and helpful tips . I may be able to be successful next time. Thank you.
I have used your Directions several times. Your direction are great Thank you
Thank You. Just what I needed. Clear directions. Ready to use on a scalloped border for a gift quilt.
I thank you for this great video. It was done in a calm fashion that made it easy too.
This is the only video that makes sense for me, also. Thank you!
Absolutely the best video I've seen for this. I finally understand how to do it! Thank you x
The best explanation of this I've seen, thanks a ton!

Did you know that you can slow the playback speed down?

This is great! I always refer back to it when making binding. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much! So clear! This really helps! I can not wait to try.
Thank you!! THIS was the video i needed! The others explained well but did the pinning & lining up too fast. Ace job!
Works every time ! 50 +years experience !
Thank you so much. I tried other videos and got in a mess. Yours WORKS. Thank you, so clear.
What a perfectly explained, clear tutorial! Thank you!
Thank you so much Beth! This is a great tutorial!! It's very clear and you've got me so curious, that I think I'll just go and try it right now...many thumbs up and grazie mille!!!
Thank you for this tutorial !!! ... very well explained and demonstrated.
Wonderful tutorial thank you for showing us this technique. 💕
Thank you! So helpful and well-explained!
BRILLIANT! Thank you!
This is my preferred method. But thank you for explaining the angled ends. Now I understand "why" things didn't always work out.
Thanks Beth - great tutorial 🤩⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
wondering why I never knew this method, love it. I am going to use it next time 4 sure. Thanks the instructions were very clear.
Thank you so well demonstrated am confident to do it now
Thanks for the great information
Very easy too follow, thank you.
Brilliant tutorial.

Hi Maggie, there's a chart on our website which could help: www.mccallsquilting.com/mccallsquilting/articles/continuous_bias
Love this method!

Thank you!
are the lines drawn on the bias cut os the fabric
I want to put a finished bias on my cuddle Quilt have you done this ?
How do you figure what size square to cut to make the amount of binding you need? For example, if a quilt is 60x60, what size square do you need to make 240 inches for the binding?
Go to the quilters paradise website...there is a calculator there for that :D
I The square will be limited by the width of your yardage, I think.
@@BallooNeccesities but sadly, that will not tell you what size to cut your square
This is the second video I have watched where the markings are so faded on part of the fabric
Too bad this wasn't filmed at a better resolution
Love this method, I also think it saves some fabric.
I can not get how to do bias strips

Yes, nobody seems to tell you what an 18 in.² yields, for example
Slipping that over a regular size ironing board would be safer when cutting .
I heard from a previous video that it yields 4 yards of bias. You can make your own 18 inch square and measure after cutting and pass on what you measured.
@@heleneikerenkotter2950 I did find a video that has a link to her blog that shows the chart. Let me see if I can find it.
the step by step

Great explanation. Who needs annoying background music.
It doesn’t really need to be square!
The only question I have is...
Does the choir sing when the sermon is being delivered?
Any background noise destroys the delivery!
Great presentation destroyed by music.
They didn’t do it in school so why do they do it now?
The music didn't bother me one bit. Lol!
That does not appear to be continuous
