  • Join Acoustic Sounds CEO Chad Kassem as he dives into some interesting and unique items from his private collection and shares his passion for vinyl. The cool stuff from Chad Kassem’s personal LP collection includes rare originals and Analogue Productions choice reissues from historic jazz labels like Prestige and others. The distinction is in the details: Tip-on jackets from Stoughton Printing, glossy front covers, and flat-profile and deep groove label vinyl. Sound is phenomenal. It’s the Analogue Productions/Quality Record Pressings way.

      Guys, unfortunately it’s all about the licensing. When they say it’s out of print, it likely means they’d have to re-up the licensing to make more. And now all of the licensing rights are with Craft Recordings (as of Craft’s creation in 2017; AP reissues came out in 2014) so we’ll probably have to wait for Craft to release these piecemeal as part of their small batch series. Believe me though, I feel the same way as you.

      The pink island cat stevens was mastered at Sterling, so if you have an American pressing of this record, they're very close. Our reissue is better, if I do say so myself, but I think there's about 8,000 other people that would agree.

    Did Rudy Van Gelder record the Impulse titles the same way as the early 60's Blue Notes, using the 50/50 master tape, for both mono and stereo, or did Impulse get both dedicated mono and stereo masters?

    • @leon9021
      @leon9021 3 года назад

      Im pretty sure that most Impulse have first gen tapes on both Stereo and Mono but the Mono is not a dedicated mix and just a fold. So Stereo is always better.
      Of course most first gen tapes are likely lost. Will be interesting to hear of the Out of the Cool sounds like a first gen or not.
