I LOVE Idrees Sulieman! His album 'The Cats' with John Coltrane is great! 'Quiet Kenny' is a masterpiece! 😍 I first came across James Moody when Sky Arts showed Dizzy Gillespie and the United Nations Orchestra: Live at the Royal Festival Hall, London. Moody played a lot of flute and Steve Turre played conches! Incredible concert!
Hey Shawn! Just stumbled onto your channel and all I have to say is wow!! I’ve been on a bit of a Prestige kick lately so it’s great to see so many titles shown here. Wonderful stuff dude, instant subscribe! I hope that you continue to keep up the great work.
Hi i'm french Sax player and lover of Jazz music since 40 years, i have many records , the discovery of the prestige Records IS a VERY great pleasure , thanks you very Much !i go watching others épisodes !😊
Teddy Charles Coolin from your collection of lp's is my best ! trying to deal with the issue of European Jazz there are wonders!!! Jazz is worldwide and not just American I guess. Thanks for the video trying to deal with the issue of European Jazz there are wonders!!! Jazz is worldwide and not just American I guess. Thanks for the video .regards from France
The 4 Miles Davis albums that were shown on this video are referred to by some people as the "Apostrophe" albums due to the album titles being a single abbreviated word ending with an apostrophe.
I once believed he was a cultural thief. But the movie did a good job showing Elvis roots and how he was influenced by black music and his dance moves from the holy rollers church. He also had the 3 degrees as backup singers. Diana Warrick credits him for helping her sell her records by signing them at one of his shows. I watched a documentary on Elvis, and it was very informative. Yes, in that era, a lot of white artists ripped out black artists, and the black artists never got the recognition they deserve. That was what happened in the music industry. But Elvis did credit to many black artists.
During the pandemic I found a guy on FB marketplace selling about 50 original Blue Note pressings, and among them was an OG Tina Brooks - True Blue. He wanted $650 for all of them and I was too broke! Went back a couple weeks later and they were gone
I must admit... Maybe I sometimes seem a little scary myself, however... the drink on the vinyl shelf... is this a scarymovie test, as to who has the very most nerves of steel - to watch this video for the longest time?
I'm slightly late to the party on this one. Anyway, very glad to have found my way here. Thank you for highlighting the perpetual nonsense peddled by contemporary labels about endless re-masterings of old LPs. Contemporary pressings are admittedly a game of Russian roulette. I have a Universal Music reissue of 'A New Perspective' by Donald Byrd. Side 1 is so badly pressed you can see indentations in the groove. Sounds awful!
@@analogwavelength He brought it to the flea market he sells records out of. He had it in an outer poly sleeve and the record was in the original waxed paper inner tucked between the back cover and poly sleeve. I looked it up on discogs and confirmed what we both thought. He wouldn't tell me which Goodwill it was. LOL
とても有益な動画です。ありがとうございました。
サブスクで探して拝聴致しましたが、素晴らしいアルバムばかりでした。

Thanks for the heads up. Gene Ammons Blue Gene is my next purchase.
Are you planning on doing a part two and such of rare albums?
I wanna hear what was actually recorded in the 50s and 60s and being replayed.

Opening with the John wright a Louisville guy :) nice!
Excellent records, prestige for the win!
It seems that you never heard of the truly superb jazz piano genius named Herbie Nichols!!!
I have. I just don’t have any of his OG vinyl.

Hi
What happened about the rest of this series? I was looking forward to more. Did something happen to you?
I’m working on a part 2 and 3! More to come soon!
@@analogwavelength That’s great. I look forward to them
Do you insure your collection?
Yes I do!
For that few years when albums were release in mono and in stereo, you do collect both, don't you?
No way. I own whatever copy I can find. I don’t keep two copies of anything.

@@kirag.586 All my records are in plastic outer sleeves so it’s not an issue.

Harp on Ashby aint weird like you say. Not liking it is weird.
I know a guy who bought an original Quiet Kenny at a Goodwill, no joke.
Say whaaaaaat?!?! Wow! I hope he bought a lottery ticket that day!
