Today was a good day to binge nicks mods
I think I speak for everyone when I say this is the best Nick’s Mod ever! You have seriously outdone yourself with this one. 👏
Not only does your MOC have fantastic design work in its own right, but it fits in perfectly with the other Hydronauts sets. I recently picked up a complete Hydronauts/Stingrays collection from my local area - at least, I *thought* it was complete, but now it turns out I’m going to have to part out your Sea Strider to complete the collection! 😊
In addition, I sincerely echo your thoughts on the Hydronauts being the most “spacey” wave of Aquazone - I couldn’t agree more! The allusions you draw to Alpha Team Mission Deep Sea are also really interesting. I never once considered the two related, but I think you’ve convinced me!
This video reminds us all why you’re the best, Nick. ❤
Aaawwwww shucks, g'awrsh
What do you not like the Chima mods?
@@PaleozoicBricks 😅😅😅
What’s next? Converting Mission Deep Freeze sets into Ice Planet 2002 ones? Year 1 Ogel sets being reverse engineered into new Spyrius vehicles?
I kid, I kid. This looks so retro I genuinely thought this was modded from an existing Aquazone set. Great work.
As a kid I did create a MOC theme of Alpha Team taking place in Space. And every agent had jet boosters on their feet!
Not only was this a good retro-style MOC, it was a great evaluation at both Mission Deep Sea and Aquazone Hydronauts. I'd love to get more into the Hydronauts one day, I've only ever played with a handful of Stingrays as a kid, and a small set (Solo Sub) in recent years. The Crystal Detector always stood out in my mind as a set to get
I'm adding this one to my build list! To keep it period correct, replace the 2015 axle-pin with a 6538 axle connector connected to the 75535. Looked like yellow wasn't introduced until 2000 though
The similarities between some lego Space-type sets always make me wonder. Like, were the Alpha Team's Mech, and by extension the Sea Strider, perhaps manufactured by the same in-universe company as the Rock Raiders' Granite Grinder?
It’s cool to see a mod from you that goes so far back! It blends in so well with the rest of the line’s sets. As far as the right arm goes, the only solution I can think of is just using the pin and axle piece, attach a cone onto the axle, and the put in the harpoon on the end of the cone. You could maybe put the saw blade on the harpoon, but that may risk chipping the chrome.
I love all the shapes and contours of the Aquazone builds, you captured them excellently.
Recently I've been collecting old pirate and classic space sets aswell as a adventures and life on mars set all because of lego rewind
This reminds me of the big daddy From BioShock
Hope you get 1 million views man keep it up
The mech nicely fits the scifi feel of Hydronauts. Love the colors and amount of detail. It also reminds me of early diving equipment where the diver would walk over the ocean floor with lead in his boots.
As a kid i would prefer the Stingrays because of their darker colors and seamonster ships but now i appreciate hydronauts better. I also felt that these factions shared a universe with aquanauts and aquasharks because of the crystals and similar bricks
Oh he wadin
Cool MOCS 😎
very good to see a mech mod.
That's a fantastic theme crossover!
As someone grown in the 2000 era, all those trans-green pieces look amazing!
Really cool mech design and backstory, make me really wish that I kept better track of my old legends.
Nice job, but yeah, this is more of a Nick’s MOC than a Nick’s MOD.
For a more retro connection for the drill, maybe you could use a Technic pin with a lightsaber blade stuck into it or a 3L axle with stud at the end, although you might have to make the drill a bit longer for it to fit.
Awesome mod! Really dig the Aqua stuff. Shame I didn't get to get into this while I was young
This was really fun! I'd love to see you sticking to the stuff of the time in the future, but I can understand that might be expensive and time consuming!
Looks great, love your mods
Perfect color scheme
i loooove this!!! i love aquazone mechs, i have one made myself
Cool moc, reminds me of the mec at the end of aliens but a bit more sea based
great video
Nice build dude.
okay im gonna need to find something on the factions of the old lego universe. Oh snap!! that could be your new line of tiktok videos, the history and lore of lego.
Anyways cool video, have a great and drink water. Evan ocean floor explorers need water.
Perhaps you could make the drill connection with a half pin with a stud end (piece 89678) and a lightsaber (or similar) bar?
"Uploaded 1 Minute Ago" :P
gUh I love aquazone
I think you know this, but walkers like this exist at least since Blacktron, if not before that
I know.
What a great review the Sea Strider! What was this sets number again, I don't think it was mentioned in the video?
It’s always good to see a new Nick’s Mods video but I also want to give a shoutout to your severely underrated channel. I’m loving the Chima content, keep up good work
What's the outro music? It's really cool.
And, of course, so's the moc! I love this color scheme of this theme a ton, and the design really feels at home with the theme's original sets! As for the hybrid pin-axle, I think that's fine. It's an interior piece that doesn't affect the authentically classic look in the slightest, even if it's technically anachronistic.
It's mentioned in the video.... Sewer, from Ratchet and Clank 3.
@@NickonPlanetRipple Oh, sorry, I must've missed it! Thanks.
ok but the heavy arms look right out of galidor
Sorta. They have the same connection.
How about a Lego movie retrospective?
I had a though about the algorithm delemia, what if you split the lego and Planet Ripple videos to two different channels, so uploading Planet Ripple stuff wouldn't also tank the lego stuff. Just an idea I had, I have no idea how you run this one channel, so I understand if that would be too much to manage
Look... that's always the first idea. I've thought of it, other people have suggested it, even family. But it's NOT as good in execution as it sounds on paper. All it would do is fragment my fanbase. My views on videos like this are unlikely to improve as I tried uploading nothing but weekly lego videos for a few months and performance still tanked, and while Planet Ripple at least gets SOME views now, it would get no views on another channel.
It's not about content. It's about the algorithm turning aggressive and trying to squeeze creators like me out of the platform because it doesn't want us anymore. All it wants is shorts, with AI-generated scripts, voices and thumbnails.
I get, thank you for an explanation.
As someone born in the late 90s, I thought this was going to be a set review until I read the title, it looks too much like the originals.
Why are you selling all of your sets?😢
Not all, just... a lot. Partly because I don't have much space for lego, and can only keep so much at a time, but also money. Need money. RUclips bad.
@@NickonPlanetRipple understandable 👍
