The ego is meant to keep you safe and hold you where you are. In general; fast breathing, breath holding and inversions are discouraged for those who have high blood pressure, while abdominal movements and exercises are discouraged if pregnant or menstruating. However, both of these "rules" are debatable depending on one's circumstances. Other situations such as injury would have their own contraindications. If I ask you to please recommend just 1 or 2 kriyas that are most potent t to awaken one's Kundalini which ones would you recommend in your opinion or if you have to only one or two choices per say?
Hey Marc! Beautiful inquiry! The path to awakening Kundalini is very individual. So what works best for one may be different than what works for another. However if I were to recommend just one or two kriya... the first thing I would recommend to most students is Uddiyana Bandha. This is, in my opinion, one of the most foundational practices that one should master in order to awaken Kundalini. And it's the mastery of this technique that will open up much more advanced Kundalini practices for you in the future. Because I find this practice so potent and transformational, I created a 10 day program to teach you to master it, called "Raise Your Vibration". This really shook something up inside of me, and ever since I did this a few days ago have been feeling a lot more anger and sadness. I have also been having more emotional dreams. Do you have a recommendation of how I can help myself chill out after this? Thanks!
The first thing I want to assure you is that this is normal and so beautiful, Erin. There is something moving inside you. My biggest suggestion would be to try to embrace it. "What we resist, persists" If you can, write down your dreams, take the first few moments of the day to sit in stillness and ask yourself, "where was I just now?", what was I feeling, seeing, experiencing, etc.? The dreams are a way for the subconscious to speak to us. So whatever can receive from them has great potential to lead you in a healing direction. That been said, I also understand that these experiences can be quite shaking. I remember spending a few long weeks not knowing who I was, why I am here, who or what I could trust in this life... It can be very challenging to feel "okay" in these moments. If this is the case for you and you're feeling quite unstable I would recommend you to do some things to ground. Spend some time in nature, walk outside, eat good, whole foods. If you can see some friends or family who will be supportive while you're in a fragile state. Definitely avoid excessive media, any sort of drugs, stimulants, alcohol, etc.. These can make the process longer and more challenging.
