  • So unfortunately these situations happen, you take your car to a professional to get a good job done, and they leave your car in a much worse state than it was before. Sadly I paid a company to fit my hydro handbrake and it was not only a bad, but a dangerous job, so today we are fitting the hydro handbrake ourselves and re-doing it properly, I should have just done this in the first place!
So here is how to properly install a hydraulic handbrake to a nissan 350z!

The hand brake and foot brake systems really should be entirely separate from each other to prevent these sorts of issues turning into complete brake failure while on the road.

Yep I agree.. I think you get a second caliper carrier for the 350/370z’s then you can run the hydro directly to it.

I would personally use a dual calliper bracket (Gktech makes one) and have the hydro and normal brakes on separate systems, giving you two points of failure. It would also make driving it to and from events much easier as you could drive the car as normal as any Zed owner is like (trust me, I also have one) 😉😂

Thats frigging appalling! So many issues there thats its obvious Drift Force or whatever they where called dont know how to make brakes. The shoddy routing is just apathy towards their work, the lack of grommets is lazy and short sighted but the actual leaking unions is the scary bit that means people should know who the cowboys are. I'm taking an educated guess from experience they have done one of two things, either they have used the wrong tool to make the ends of the lines concave rather than convex or visa-versa or they have used 3/8 UNF unions in M10 cavities which will fit but are very loose and come apart with pressure in the system (this may also explain the rounded off nuts if they used a metric spanner on an imperial fitting).
Its absolutely shocking though and well done Lee for showing what can happen when people who don't know how to work on brakes, work on peoples brakes!

  • @JrRetroCollector

Ha! Its funny when my instincts are right. That place looked dodgy just from the state of their work space and the way they were putting the lines in 😳
Not always the case obviously and a ford main dealer actually rounded my wheel nuts and sent me on my way only to find out when I got a puncture on the M25 and couldn't get my wheel off 😡
Sorry you experienced this but these people are out there and we should share their work so they don't get away with such shoddy and dangerous work

With regards to the holes that are drilled in the car with no grommets/sealant applied, unfortunately copper is very soft and if I was a betting man I would put money on the copper pipes being far softer than the metal that the holes are drilled through, so there is only one winner here, the metal. Worst case scenario would be a severed copper pipe caused by friction from the steel that the holes have been drilled through. Severed pipe equals no fluid equals no brakes.

That garage should be ashamed of themselves!!!!!!!!!! I do all my own work on cars now, Took my car in because it had a misfire at idle and was told it was a fuel injector which they wanted to charge me £350 to change 1. I changed all 4 myself which cost me £114 for genuine Bosch one's only to find the garage ripped all the wiring to the fuel injectors showing exposed copper. I repaired the wiring and the misfire was still there, I changed the spark plugs, coil pack and the misfire was still there. I opened up the engine and found every single screw to the cams were loose. I removed the cams to check for damage and luckly there was none, put the cams back in, tightened them up in sequance and the misfire was GONE and now it runs lovely. I was determined to fix it myself because the AA and garages couldn't fix it and my mum had cancer, needed the car to go to the hospital for chemotherapy, she died sadly in December 2022 but I'm proud of myself for fixing it.
