I adore Handsome Devil. It’s was such a cute film. Andrew Scott was hella cute in that film. I can’t wait for RW&RB. I already know it’s going to be awesome. I can feel it in my bones. I don’t even object to the fact Alex is too tall. I bought RW&RB on my recent pilgrimage to Gay’s The Word. It’s all just perfection.
I can see why they cut Leo - he's a pretty thin character in the book and brings very little to it. But I do agree that the issue of ACD's parents being divorced is pretty crucial in the book so I don't know if they're just going to simplify that aspect of his experience. It's hard to cover that kind of backstory in a film when you're trying to keep the focus on the main romance plot I guess. The child of divorce thing functions mainly in the novel to explain why Alex tends to avoid introspection and to keep his focus on striving for achievements and goals rather than on his personal life - so they might find another way to get that across.
Its not that hard imo...its sad that they try to simplify so much
