    He seems like one of the highest upside swings in the draft.
    Not many kids at all, even in this draft, who have his combination of speed and handling skills. Especially at his size. Not sure he'll be a good enough decision maker to do this at the NHL level. But if he is? Oh, boy. He'll be electric.

    • @derek4044
      @derek4044 Год назад +5

      Kinda funny cause we always think of the small kids who already have refined play styles as the upside swings in a draft.
      But what can you really teach those kids? Besides praying they end up bigger than the average 16 year old when they turn 24?
      You can actually teach someone like Danielson and the base skill level is there.

    Everyone want's to speculate, evaluate, and judge these draft picks when, in reality, even the most credible "experts" get it wrong most the time!!
    Gotta trust that the the GM and the scouts have way more knowledge and insight than nearly any of us do. They picked Nate Danielson for a reason, and all we can do as a fans is wish the kid the best, root for him, and hope that the investment the team made in him pays off.

    • @natebriskey9031
      @natebriskey9031 Год назад +1

      There’s a reason why Benson fell to #13... Yzerman knew what he was doing. Drafted the second best center in the WHL at #9, the toughest center for Connor Bedard, and carried a terrible team to and through the playoffs, and then picked up another excellent defenseman in Axel Sandin-Pellika. Last time Yzerman reached he got Mo Seider. Look how that turned out. They clearly have more information than we do so why not stand back for a minute and assess the possibilities.

    • @Sonicthehedgefundmanager
      @Sonicthehedgefundmanager Год назад

      @@natebriskey9031 benson was top 5 material, the fact that he was available at 9th and the fact that he got picked at 13th is going to make it that much worse when he turns into a high level playmaker, which we need in Detroit, benson could have pushed Larkin to the wing and we would have benson and kasper down the middle, and I’m not at all bagging on danielson cause I’m sure he’s a great pick but benson should have - in a perfect world - probably gone like 5th - 6th overall, it’s just a poor decision, regardless of how danielson turns out it’s probably going to look like the weaker pick in a couple years.

    • @cannedpaint
      @cannedpaint Год назад +1

      @@Sonicthehedgefundmanagerwhy would you ever put Larkin on the wing?

    • @Sonicthehedgefundmanager
      @Sonicthehedgefundmanager Год назад

      @@cannedpaint because Larkin is more of a goal scorer, and in general is considered one of the weaker first line center’s in the NHL (which I disagree with). Benson is projected to be a center and a high level playmaker, if we would have drafted him he could have possibly pushed Larkin to the wing (which would probably suit Larkins game better). But it’s out the window so it doesn’t matter.

    • @robjohnson5872
      @robjohnson5872 Год назад +1

      @@Sonicthehedgefundmanager You certainly are passionate about Benson, you may well be the "winner" in this debate. The fact that 8 teams before Stevie and 3 teams afterwards passed on him - there's more than just Stevie say something that made them pass. That's a lot of NHL experience that said no. With his credentials, he play well somewhere for sure.
