- If you catch Covid in Japan, the Japanese government will give you a FREE care package for your quarantine! Care packages are only available to those who test positive for covid. Luckily my friend Ushka had a very mild case, and she's recovered now.

it's smart too- there are many people who simply don't report it when they get sick. I bet people are more motivated to report their illness when they know they're getting a care package out of it, which makes for much more accurate statistics and better control of the situation i suppose
Maybe, but the Japanese are being taught from the first moments of their lives to not be a bother to others - even this may be seen as selfishness.
On the other hand, they self-isolate as the must and that package may be seen as compensation for that?
What I wonder however is if that package will survive the Omicron-surge? The Japanese case numbers are still low but Omicron is there so far as I know. We'll see.
Yes I agree. Who wouldn't want the convenience of free food and not having to pay someone or ask someone to get groceries for you? Unless you're very picky and have dietary restrictions. But otherwise I think this is a great idea, for the convenience and well being of the sick individual and everyone else because personally I would be more inclined to report my illness knowing that I can safely rest without making a dent to my pocket, although I think people should be reporting it regardless. But people have their reasons I guess.

@@Widestone001 Yeah, that way of thinking doesn't really make sense for the Japanese, or, if you really think about it, anyone else from any culture unless you're very poor and get excited by free stuff. This is more like, "You don't have an excuse to go out to buy food, so please stay at home" kind of box. We also have to understand that to the Japanese these are simply basic grocery food, not gourmet. Kind of like when Americans get sent Kraft Mac&Cheese and Campbell's soup and basic supermarket bread.
I got this person's channel from a link from the Japan Times News. I don't know where she is, but a friend of mine got COVID in Aichi and she can order a care package from the government, but it isn't free there. You also notice there isn't any meat, fruit, or vegetables in what they give you. My friend has 2 children who are not sick and they must quarantine but they can't get any meat, fruit, vegetables. I ordered her some meat from the meat guy, now trying to contact my friends to see if they could give her some fruit and veggies.
I recently tested positive for COVID in Thailand and the government sent a medical care package that included a pulse oximeter and a thermometer. They also sent cooked food every morning (breakfast/lunch/dinner) in containers that could be warmed in the microwave. The daily food package also included lots of water and milk. I was pretty impressed.

I have not heard of such support or food delivery in Germany or any European country...

Another point! If all governments had programs like this, people might be more likely to stay home when they were sick. Many live paycheck to paycheck and might be worried about how they’d feed their family if they weren’t working!
Completely agree. We have nothing like that in Australia. So really I don’t blame people who end up leaving their house to get things when they are unwell if they have no one to help them. This should be standard world wide.
@@kerimebozaoglu9283 , we don’t have this either! There are grocery delivery services and that helps some, but they usually have to be scheduled at least a few days ahead and they can be costly. I agree! This should exist everywhere!

This is A++ strategy in psychology. First they use positive reinforcement to get you into self-quarantine mood. Then since you kinda got "paid" to do it, if you have any semblance of integrity, you have have stronger sense of responsibility to do a good job.
Compared to fear tactics or sealing your door shut like some other governments, this is 100/100 genius.
This is a perfect example of Japanese thoughtfulness and being community-driven.
Honestly it's more like an example of a government taking things seriously, and being aware that if you want people to isolate to stop a virus spreading, you have to support them and help them to do it. It's not just nice, it's the smart, practical thing to do - a lot of governments put that whole burden on the people isolating, and it discourages them from the behaviour that needs to be encouraged. This should be the norm, really!
Japan is a very developed nation, it is an eye opener just visiting. Amazing. The people, the Govt, are just on a different level.
@@cactustactics In the beginning of the pandemic, there was a lot of public outcry from Japanese residents that the government wasn't doing enough to stop the spread of Covid and helping those who caught it. It's good that they've changed for the better.

@@cactustactics it's all about the system. East countries even tho they proclaiming to be liberalism and stuff, but they still have the communism(community-ism) part. And that makes them socialism by default.
The community feeling is still strong.
And you can see that clearly in the rural areas.
Pakistani even sometimes giving stuff freely for some tourists and strangers. Indonesians also gives some knowledge and local food and stuff.
But lots of eastern countries dont have the resources. And Japan here is the example when east ppl have those resources. And money.
But i also kinda sad tho the packaging there full with plastic. I know it's recyclable because all of them are hard plastic. But plastic still plastic. Bad.
Hope they can provide the patients with fresh produce everyday. With robot n drone for example.
That is a much wider variety of food than I would expect in a government provided support ration. What a great way to help morale while quarantined.

This is really cool. Meal replacements for when you can barely drag yourself out of bed, instant meals for once you start feeling a bit better, and fast, easy meals like seaweed salad and pasta for when you can actually cook. Seems like a pretty good variety too!

Last time I got sick, I asked my mom to get me Gatorade and pudding cups from the store. I guess if you get COVID in Japan, the government will do it instead xD
Damn, they didn't just pack whatever to meet caloric requirements, those are also all great options for sick people that don't have the energy to cook or can't currently stomach complex meals. Imagine a government taking care of their people.
exactly! I'm impressed they thought of the simplest but most effective way to provide nutrients and calories while also keeping in mind how difficult it might be for sick people to get up and make food. Even if they dont end up using it right away it can easily be stored for future use.
Yes they did, the Calorie Mate stuff proves you wrong. Instant ramen is full of so much salt and some people are sensitive to too much salt. Maybe all the rice and congee is good for a sensitive stomach, but those cookies aren't good for nausea.

@lain iwakura I wonder. If you lose your sense of smell or taste, would the stronger flavors in these foods help with that?
I haven't had covid yet, so I don't know how complete that would be.
As for preservatives and salt etc, these foods have to be shelf stable. It's much more challenging to make large quantities of kits eith fresh foods as they would go bad in days and rot out in a week.
I love how they include food that’s actually practical and good for someone that’s not feeling well. They seem to go above and beyond with the brands and amount they give. Even that pamphlet, including allergy info and offer for oxygen monitor. WOW. This really gives folks an incentive to report they’re sick in a way that actually helps them, allows them to stay home and just get well. Those two bottles of iced coffee… very nice as well😏
Yeah, if my wifes 70 year old dad had been given a pulseoximiter he wouldnt have gotten cellular damage due to the incredibly low sats he had (70-68%, you basically die at 65). This happened to a man who spent his entire life making sure the country is safe and even went out fighting our massive forest fires when he was 65 years old.
Im happy Japan knows how to treat its citizens, just sad my country couldnt be arsed to even try.
Just a little correction. That's not really from the Japanese government but from your local government.
I got infected at work last summer, and the system at my city (a small city in Aichi Prefecture) is totally different. Here you'll get a bag every morning containing 3 bentos (covering breakfast, lunch and dinner) and 3 drinks (juice or tea), and they also give you a number to call in case you need anything from the supermarket or the pharmacy. I never used that service because I didn't need it, but I got my 3 fresh meals every day for my whole quarantine.

@@edysmith9758 It does matter.......just like in the states, local government and your own community are the first places we turned to and still do for guidance, health care, shopping, vaccines, etc.
Thank you for clarification on that. I was pretty impressed with their government until you did a correction. I was nearly jealous because our sorry government group has been pretty pathetic over the past 5 to 6 years. And all we mainly hear is... the states each have to handle their stuff and stop asking the Fed Government. Well, we are only having all of this issue is because of the Damn Fed. Government. They need to get their you know what together and stop saying it is the people's fault when it is THEIR FAULT. I am very happy to see the people of Japan really do have some concern for each other.
@@edysmith9758 If it was from the national government, it wouldn't matter, indeed. Everyone in Japan would have exactly what she got. But it's not the case. Most people in Japan, like myself, most likely will have a very different experience because this is a local government service. So, as someone who also lives in Japan (but not in Tokyo), I would say that it does matter where those boxes come from.

I love that the food is diverse and name brand. Also how nice to include a treat. What really impressed me though was the inventory sheet broken down into allergens. That is just incredible they'd take the time to print that per box.
I'm really impressed that they give you high quality food items, not just the cheapest no brand junk. It's actually kind of sweet how much thought they seem to put into the care packages, e.g. including sports drinks to replenish electrolytes and snacks to cheer you up.
That's not high quality. All the prepackaged food is full of salt and preservatives or it's just pure sugar like the cookies. Fresh produce would have been better.
@@lainiwakura1776 sick people/families are going to be a lot less likely to have the time and energy to process/cook fresh produce when in quarantine.
@@lainiwakura1776 it’s not reasonable to be constantly able to readily offer fresh produce without pre purchasing product that’s 100% going to be wasted. In order to fulfill demand and give everyone the same quantity, that’s just logistically infeasible. Also, when you’re sick it’s much easier to make quick meals that are either microwaved, simply boiled (like pasta), or just needs hot water added. The vast majority of Japanese households have rice and rice cookers but they still give you microwaveable rice so you don’t need to go through the process of washing the rice.
Just so you know no brand foods usually taste better that their branded counterparts. Sometimes they give more than others aswell.

I also noticed that they tried to include healthier version of the products like “less sodium,” “unsalted,” “no sugar added” and “preservative free.” Of course fresh produce is better, but it’s not ideal when you’re too sick to cook.
Not only is this a generous thing for the Japanese government to do, it’s smart as well. Because this obviously eliminates the need to go out for food, at least for the first week anyways, which helps reduce the spread of Covid. And to show their goodwill and generosity by doing so? That really takes care of two issues at once! Again, very very smart.
You can't be generous with other people's money.

Honestly this is a lovely sentiment. I wish more countries would do something like this for people who caught COVID or take it a step further and do something like this for people with severe illnesses or injuries.
My wife tested positive after Christmas. We got v sick. Told her if we ever got over it (felt like death, also felt like forever) I want to make care packages for our coworkers/friends/family who get it. Need ideas now that we did survive it w no hospitalization thankfully, so thanks for sharing!

I worked at a testing site. Many people & families with worried looks on faces. Parents of school age kids that tested positive. Well. I tried to reassure as much as possible & asked them to prepare as best they can. Order things from grocery & Necessities. I gotta say people were worried. I cant imagine seniors & home bound people managing. When they cant crawl out of bed. This is a blessing to have something like this. Hopefully this is the end of covid19. And citizens can prepare for being self sufficient for next emergency.👍

This is so impressive! The US has nothing like this at all. If you're quarantining you have to rely on family members or delivery services for food. Our government would never do something this generous at any time

In Illinois, if youre a single person household they will send a care package. They send food, toilet paper, and lysol cleaning supplies. Not as much food in the video though.
Other countries need to follow Japan’s lead with treating and supporting their people. This is amazing!
Definitely a great package. Most of the items are both easy to prepare and to eat. Stuff like jelly and drinks are particularly suitable in a pinch for people with a sore throat, young children, elderly people who have trouble chewing, swallowing and a number of other issues -- a core target population of this initiative, without a doubt.
I think it's important to mention that the care packages are sent by local municipal governments not the central government. And not all municipal governments do these care packages. My friend tested positive and her town doesn't send care packages so she's having to rely on friends to bring her stuff.
in Belgium this is unheard of... but that's really kind of them to do that, they ACTUALLY take care of their people... TAKE NOTE, rest of the world!!

How kind and considerate to include lots of instant meals--someone who is sick likely won't feel up to cooking, or if they do, won't want to make anything too strenuous. Lots of healthy snacks, too! Hopefully Ushka recovers quickly; I'm glad that her groceries are taken care of so she has one less thing to worry about!
It also means more preserved its probably why didnt send bagged fruit and beg but instead canned fruit its a preservation thing
In Japan, a lot of people rely heavily on eating out and rarely cook, and a lot of people don't cook whatsoever, so they wouldn't even have the utilities to make food.
@@bubbley1234 I don't know where in Japan do you live, but, except for salary-men (mostly unmarried ones), I think your statement is quite far from being true. Literally everyone I know here have at least one homemade meal per day, and usually the other one is at work or at university. And I'm talking about foreigners as well as Japanese nationals, some married and most singles, from different prefectures (mostly in central Japan).
Very good idea, especially for those on a very limited budget who are going to be suffering even more from being unable to work until they are well and considered safe to be in public…you really can tell the quality of government by how they care for their people.

Well students got p EBT benefits and a lot of people got maximum amount of EBT benefits allowed in their states and based on how much income they had

That's because the US citizens take no care in their Government. People can have what they want and need, they're just too lazy/stupid to demand better treatment.
For all people living in Europe, please note that Japan actually has a lower rate of local plus national taxes than the majority of European countries 😒 I would certainly be glad for my taxes to go to incentives like these care packages so people can keep healthy and keep others safe.

I appreciate being able to look at where my taxes go! And living in Europe is very visible. For example I get as a family free packaged home tests and masks. But I agree with 0ozmichka0, it would be nice if sick or very poor people could get something like this.

people in germany pay much more taxes than the japanese and we still don't get anything like this. you have to ask other people like family members to bring you stuff and even if you don't have them the gov is like "just call food delivery service"

We got stimulus checks like twice. Most countries got nothing. Some of yall need to travel coz the privilege from Americans is unflattering. The average Japanese citizens are very well mannered people so the government reflects that.
This is so kind of the Japanese government! I've been following a girl on Tik Tok who had to quarantine after returning from Europe to Japan. She spent I think 1-2 weeks in a facility and showed the free meals she received. They were pretty well done as well.

and it's so bad if you don't have friends or family nearby. I lived on takeout food for about a week because I couldn't get groceries. definitely didn't help me feel better. 🥴

Wow, that's incredibly impressive! I've heard horror stories here in the UK of older and elderly people who couldn't get any food when they caught COVID and weren't computer literate to order food for themselves. It's nice to see a country that actually responds to a humanitarian health crisis with thought and care.

Definitely impressed. Based on general things we usually hear about Japan, I guess there are a lot of people who live alone and especially the elderly and this program would definitely make quarantining much easier on these subset of people
I had covid last week and they really nailed it on what you are actually able to eat which is mostly liquid food and all the pasta and curry for the following week of recovery.
Here in the UK our government wasted so much money on a broken track and trace system that could of been used for something like this. It's a brilliant idea and acts as motivation for people to report their case so that the whole country can get back to normal ASAP. Another great video, keep being awesome 👍😎
Yeah, Its a great Idea. Unfortunately, I think in some countries including the UK), some people would try and take advantage/ abuse the system of all these free packages if the government tried doing it, if don't have any regulations for how much a person can get...like how some people lie to get benefits here... :/

Well we saw what happened when they did the food boxes to replace free school meals so god knows what crap they’d have put in food boxes like this if they’d done them 🙄
@@ThatRomyKate yeah that swas a car crash from the government. The Japanese government even got the most popular spaghetti and decent brand named items, the UK government would just get whoever was cheapest. There are times that I believe Japan is definitely a better version of humanity.
Different things work for different cultures, I'm not sure this is that suitable for the UK but perhaps I'm just being cynical of the British public

Well, Japan has been able to keep cases low. The majority of what they get comes from foreign visitors (the olympics caused an enormous spike, almost entirely localized around where the athletes and support staff stayed) so their cases per 100k is a tiny fraction of what most western countries face. If somewhere like the US tried this, it would end up costing billions in just raw materials, not including shipping costs and overhead from 'logistics' (kickbacks, general ineptitude, paying people to do jobs that already have a half dozen other people assigned to do it, etc). If it was done at a state level though, maybe you would see more state governments actually trying to limit the spread to save money instead of so many governors doing their best to stop any preventative measures and keep it spreading
In Canada we were forced into hotels and had to pay thousands of dollars. -__-
America only gives face masks and hand sanitizer..or at least they did a year ago

I think the package you got is from the Tokyo government, right? My friends in Wakayama said they got a different one full of local fruits and vegetables. I don't want to catch Covid (I mean who does lol), but I'd LOVE to get those care packages full of treasures XD

I think smaller communities can opt for a more fresh fruit and vegetables corona-survival-kit because of fever cases. It's easier to manage if you have 200-300 cases compared to >25000 in Tokyo.

yeah the packages are sent by local municipal governments so will be different. Some towns, like mine, don't even send care packages at all😭

You made my morning enjoyable while watching this and inspired to try and find these products online and hopefully have them shipped to me in Missouri. I could cook or prepare whilst videotaping and share my thoughts or opinion. I’ve never done anything like that and I most certainly do not have a RUclips channel. What fun this could be! 😁

The Japanese package struck me mostly as incredibly varied. Nobody likes everything, and I think that that was factored in: Not all that food will actually be eaten during that week (and can be given to friends and family after), so there's a surplus just to be on the safe side. Also, I just changed my dinner plans to have one of my own noodle cups. 🙂
Here in the US we're on our own. There's no one to even make sure we quarantine, so a lot of people don't. It's awful.

honestly that's so considerate. i had covid while living alone and sadly i couldn't do groeceries for myself, i couldn't even get out of bed... luckily my mother was visiting nearby where i live or else i have no idea how i would have managed this. i wish they did this boxes in various countires.
That was my situation too, but sadly I was hospitalized first. When I got home, I had to be in oxygen and still made to quarantine. My brother and his wife were nice enough to help when he could but I had to rely on delivery services like instacart to order groceries.

I’m living in American and since the government it’s not promoting early treatment I know how to treat covid the holistic way and had recovered 2 times the last one was less severe.

Seriously, and when my friend was sick I wondered how he could get food. The only thing I could think of was using an app and leave a drop off near the front door.
damn, there’s at least ten full days worth of food in there. had to isolate for seven days after getting symptomatic covid and as a low income student it was a financial pain to get delivered enough meals and some groceries for 2, even for a week. i think it makes total sense for the government to encourage staying at home while infectious, but still interesting to see that they truly put some thought into those rations

@H.B. Hatecraft it's almost like you forgot that the United States gave $3,200 cash to all of its citizens, infected with covid or not. You can make 21.4 care packages with that money.
With that perspective, I'm disappointed that Japan provided less than 5% of what USA gave, and that Japan only gives that 4+% of relief to only people who got Covid, and nothing for everyone else.

Yay for Pocari Sweat. That stuff REALLY helped us on our first trip there from the UK. My far the longest flight(s) that I have ever been on and we underestimated the drinking need. We keep mix packets if it in the cupboard for when we are ill (along side the Knorr Super Chicken Noodle soup...) Oh, and nothing from the UK government - they're too busy partying...

No one made her go to work. She chose to fo to keep her job with a crappy employer. There are tons of job openings and until recently, exceptional unemployment benefits.

We all make choices but blame others for them. If I'm not happy, I won't blame myself for staying at my job, I call out my workplace and society at large.

@@Kwijiboi You have the luxury of making that statement. Not everyone can afford to or has the time to quit and look for another job. Maybe even the unemployment benefits wouldn't be enough either. You don't even know when this person had covid. And if you're paying attention to the type of jobs available, maybe she lacks the skills for the higher paying ones or other jobs don't pay enough to cover her expenses. Just because you might have the luxury and flexibility to quit and find a different job doesn't mean everyone is in the same boat.

I'd only wish the Netherlands would do food packages like that too! Back when i had Covid i had to rely on family, neighbors and delivery services for my food. This is a pretty good initiative from Japan! Pleasantly surprised they've added all the allergy information together with some general Covid tips.
I’m recovering from Covid currently (I’m allowed back at school tomorrow 😖) I personally lost my appetite while I was sick, there’s no way I could have finished all that food! The meal replacement drinks and jelly would be perfect for me since I struggled with eating 😅😅 also, the idea of a care package is really great, I relied on my brother to drop off food/medicine when he wasn’t working and when I felt strong enough I had to do a grocery curbside pick up order.

Currently quarantining with my second round of covid in the last month and a half (and I was vaccinated)! That care package was super generous! I was so tired with my first round, if I didn’t have family around it would’ve been hard to take care of myself. The easy to make meals would have been so helpful! Wish we had something similar in the US! Stay safe out there folks!

Vaccines don’t prevent you from getting covid hun. It was for the nurses and doctors in over crowded hospitals. Lol, like people read ANYTHING nowadays
"Does your government do this?" Hahaha....don't make me laugh....or cry. They just assume you have enough food to last you two week/a week and if you don't, you'll just have to ask a neighbour, because that is soooo normal. And yet they act all surprised when people ignore their quarantine and go food shopping.
Yes, you can get food delivered, but when you test positive and you haven't registered yet with your favourite supermarket, chances are your first delivery option will be after your quarantine....so a bit pointless. It's just not order now, have food tomorrow usually.(I just checked, earliest delivery if I order now is friday....that's 5 days) And minimum order is €50 to have it delivered. (btw, I'm talking about the Netherlands)
Exactly, and not all grocery stores do deliveries even...
Beside that, there are also people who don't have friends of family they can actually rely on for help, or the people around them don't have a car and it's too far to cycle or walk to bring groceries. And if those people also have a very low budget for weekly groceries, they cannot spend at least €50 at once. Or pay for shipping, which some stores ask.
I am lucky enough to have people who would help if needed, but I know that not everyone is that lucky.
I personally haven't yet heard of people getting groceries after actually testing positive, because they had to get food (though I am sure this happens here too), but I did hear about people who would go to get tested for Covid, and on the way home from the test, they'd get groceries for in case the test would be positive and they couldn't go get groceries anymore after hearing that result. If our government would do these care packages, people who just went for a test wouldn't feel the need to do a quick grocery run on the way home.

Wow, Japan is so generous! I'm currently living in South Korea and when I quarantined I legit got maybe, a quarter of the food Japan gives. My boss had to go out and buy extra food for me so that I would have enough!
I got this person's channel from a link from the Japan Times News. I don't know where she is, but a friend of mine got COVID in Aichi and she gets a care package from the government, but it isn't free there. You also notice there isn't any meat, fruit, or vegetables in what they give you.

My city set a catering service that delivered every morning 2 bags at my door, containing 3 bentos (including fresh vegetables and pieces of fruit for each meal) and 3 drinks (juice and/or tea). This was for all the length of my quarantine except for the first day, and was 100% free of charge for me.
They also gave me a phone number to call in the event I need something from the pharmacy or the grocery store, so they would send someone to buy it for me and deliver it at my door. I never used that phone service because I didn't need it, but my guess is that at least the delivery service would be for free, and I'd probably have to pay for the actual products I wanted to buy (though I have no idea how the payment process would be).
Japan is still more richer than S.Korea
So happy she is recovering quickly! And we have 1 store in my town that delivers groceries. When we get tested, sometimes we get a care pkg, but nothing like that. Here in the US, we don't really get much. Can't even get ppl to wear a mask at all. Was in the hospital for a week last year with Covid and no one but family helped. So glad to see Japan actually cares about people and tries to take care of them

It looks great, but what really caught my eye is the calorie mate. When it was the worst for me (I had a mild case, as I am both vaccinated and boosted) I got exhausted microwaving a burrito. I could not even finish it before falling back to sleep. It would have been nice to just drink one of those during that three-day period. I think I only managed to eat twice.
If you were "both vaccinated and boosted," why did you have any kind of case at all? Doesn't that tell you ANYthing???
Dude, I couldn't even eat oatmeal (not vaccinated by the way), I had no appetite my second week. I pretty much drank Pedialyte until I forced myself to eat.

I tested positive yesterday, and sadly I have to say we don't have this kind of support in Sweden... I'd love it there was. As is, i have to send a shopping list to my mother so she can go buy the stuff i need, and then i transfer the money it cost to her through the bank, all responsibilities placed on us by ourselves...

ICA actually does have home delivery in some cities but not everywhere, while there are options that you go to their homepage and shop online BUT someone have to go pick up the food from outside their store and it’s not same day delivery- unless you are up during the night and get really lucky with it. Only problem with this is that it costs more to shop online than going to the store, at least it is that in my city and that’s why I stopped with it because…. I’m not made of money.
I would simply suggest to search online for home delivery options in your area and then hope for the best.
I had omicrom but felt fine, so still went about my business as normal.
Glad i wasn't ill as I wouldn't have been happy having to do stuff while ill.
Wow, this is amazing! Providing a care package alone is above and beyond anything we have here in the UK (which is nothing like this), but the quality of the contents is unreal.
As a cynical old fart, I wonder if this is partially donated by companies - this would be a killer way to market your goods. Nourishing people in their lowest moments to form a memorable bond - and exposing people to brands and products (caloriemate in multiple forms!) that consumers might otherwise never try, and convert them into lifelong customers.
I agree, the contents we ere pretty awesome, especially to receive it when sick, and be able to enjoy without stressing about grocery shopping etc.

Wishing Ushka a speedy recovery. This is a great example of how the Japanese government looks after its residents. As you mentioned not everyone is eligible, but this is a very well thought out by the government to provide for those needing to take time off to recover. This would be a life saver for someone who lives alone, doesn't have friends or family nearby to drop off stuff, and just one less worry to have when you are sick. Wish Canada did something like this. It feels like every man for himself sometimes.
I’m glad she’s getting so much support. When I was hospitalized with covid in 2020 I was contacted by a social worker who asked if I had any family who could get items for me. If I had said no, they said they could offer someone who would deliver items for me- no mention about if I had to purchase them first or not. But I also wonder if it was because when I was admitted I said I lived alone. (I did all the proper preventative steps but because I’m immune compromised and work with the public, and take transit I still got it- before the vaccine was made available to the public). My brother was able to give me some items but I ended up having to use the delivery service instacart, and have my pharmacy postal mail my prescriptions.

Most people that go over to Japan will be the first to tell you that Japan is great to visit, not so much to live due to the excruciating work culture.

I have always wanted to go to Japan and many other places to travel to. The whole care package for those who are sick, so they dont have to leave to get food while in quarantine is a good idea. Thats all I was saying. No complaints here. Just sharing my thoughts.

That is amazing. We have pull up grocery shopping. We order online and they load it in trunk. If you're feeling horrible can't drive, we also have delivery. I think giving out the pulse oximeter is a fantastic idea. I ran out and got one in the beginning. It is something that is hard to tell where you are at as far as feeling ok, vs needing medical attention. Hope she feels better soon 😻

In The US they just send you a text saying hey quarantine for so many days. My quarantine was 10 days. Thanks to the vaccine I didn’t need a ventilator but unfortunately since I’m diabetic I went into ketoacidosis and had to be hospitalized. I survived but have some sucky leftover symptoms.

I wish Canada would do this - I could see this being especially helpful with cases up north and on the various reserves in the provinces and territories as well: a little bit of extra help without having to go too far. With all of the Calorie Mates - that's easily 2-2.5 weeks worth of food (depending on your caloric intake per day.) Great video!
But be honest... there's a group of people who would FAKE a covid test to get free stuff if it was implemented in Canada. Especially certain demographics that come from countries where taking advantage of social programs is about as endemic as COVID!
I'm also Canadian. I definitely agree. I'm very thankful to have neighbours if I needed anything and it'd probably be easy enough to order dry food through Amazon where my apartment is. Food delivery doesn't deliver to my house it's too small of an area.
Let's be real...if this was done in a western country, this would just be yet another reason for the government just squander even more of your tax dollars and reallocate most of the money to their pet projects, "social justice" causes, and line their own pockets, leaving the country in even more national debt than it is to the tune of trillions.
