      100% and thanks so much. There’s nothing better than getting outside and getting the miles in I absolutely thrive off being in the hills. The hardest battle is getting out the door to go but once out it’s ace. Thank you

      That’s ace well done. It’s nice Dow Crag isn’t it…great views of Coniston and a bit of a scramble to the summit too which keeps it interesting.

    Fantastic, I'm visiting in June and I was just going to go straight up and down from Coniston but now I think my first option will be this route, looks superb. Thanks for a great guide.

      You’ll have the best time…have you been yet or still going this month? I really recommend this route its great. If you don’t fact the extra mountains, then still head the same direction as mine starts but take the lower track next to goats water and summit Coniston from there and then come down via the mines like in mine.
      I wouldn’t recommend going up and down by the mines as it’s a much steeper way to ascent. Going this way makes much more sense trust me.

    Love this video Kris, this was my first lake district walk, you did the exact same walk I did. Loved it, Dow crag was my first ever wainwright.

      Thanks Kev. It’s a good route isn’t it to tag some summits. I took the group the same route although tagged Brim Fell with them too. There’s another good circular walk up there from the other direction it’s on my channel with the strava link in the description for it. Tag some other wainwrights it’s a good route. Dow crag is a nice summit though isn’t it

    Hi Kris! Really enjoying your videos. I came across your channel because I'm planning to walk The Cumbria Way at the end of the month. In your opinion, could you tack on this walk here when you reach Coniston? I really want to get up some fells as well as walking The Way. All the best! - Steph -

    • @krisgleave
      @krisgleave  Год назад

      Hi Steph, that’s great and best of luck with the Cumbria Way it’s a great hike. Did you watch my series on it? I wouldn’t advise 3 days that’s a tough slog.
      Yes you could do Coniston when you’re there if you fancy it as you’ll literally go right through Coniston. That’s one of the official stopping points so guess you could take 4hrs out to do this route if you’re up for it. How many days are you planning to do the Cumbria way over and are you wild camping? Kris

    • @One_moor_for_luck
      @One_moor_for_luck Год назад +1

      @@krisgleave I did watch your series. I definitely won't be doing it in three days haha, that looked a right slog! I will probably make it in five or six days if I do decide to head up old man of coniston. And yeah i'm really up for some wild camping and exploring, it equally looks like from my research and watching your videos there are enough campsites to stop at if you need it. Are there any spots for camping or campsites you'd recommend?

    • @krisgleave
      @krisgleave  Год назад

      Haha yeah 3 days waaaaay too quick. If you get the book it advises over about 6 I think anyway and has routes for that. Wild camping is a great way to do it and there are plenty of spots. Camping wise I stayed at a place called Bays Brown I think near the langdales and there’s a good campsite right on the trail in Caldbeck which looks a great place to stop.
      As I pushed on through places I didn’t notice too many campsites but they’re be lost. The YHA in Keswick was awesome if you decide to treat yourself one night.
      Best of luck. When you starting?
