Please dont teach that it is okay to sew over your pins... I was sewing in a sewing group at my church and the lady next to me sewed over a pin and it jamed her machine... broke her needle and bent the pin in a 45° angle... It scared both if us... She said that she always sewed over her pins on her machine ...but not anymore.... The broken needle went flying and I'm happy that I wear glasses. .. that needle could have put an eye out... 🛑. Just please dont say that its okay... 😢😢😢
Hi Brenda, I completely hear you...if you sew over pins at any kind of speed, they will break and bits of needle are likely to fly off in all directions and it's really dangerous. I'd never advocate that; which is why I say that if someone is to keep their pins in place, that's OK as long as you sew very slowly, and watch the needle like a hawk. That way, the needle will slide off a pin if it does hit it, but 9 times out of 10, you can can take the pin out just in time and avoid the needle hitting it. Hope that helps a little.
