I don't even like Swizz but he was nice on 'WATS'. His drums bang like crazy and I gotta give him props for the overall sound of the album. But Premo produced "Recognize" and not only made the best track on the album but my favorite Lox song ever.
One of my favorite joints ever. The way Kiss sets it off, Sheik verse is underrated, Styles verse was crazy...the way Preem lets the beat rock at the end...Classic
Yooo made props to the editor with how he weaved the background music into the Lox music and back to background. Smooth as hell. Not sure man are going to appreciate that right there. Just wanted to give him or her their due. 5:11-5:17 3:00-5:07
Listening to this at the gym right now, I’ve always loved this song and beat. Man, you have so many incredible beats I don’t think I could make a list of my favorite top 10 … please never stop. “ watch how it go down and the 6th sense “ are two amazing tracks that came to mind while writing this. Much love Premier 🙏🏽💪🏽
Best in the game hands down ! Stayd together for over 20 years and still making bangers ! Fucking love the lox 💛 uks biggest lox fan here 👊 LOX D BLOCK RUFF RYDERS r.i.p DMX ❤❤❤❤
Thank you Preemo, this beat has been in my head for years and I could never recall who was rapping over this track. No better relief than getting that mental block out of me.
"If I knew heaven had a ghetto that was sweeter than here Ya know the P'll pack his bags and just leave next year But i got a son to raise so ima stay in this hell And i got a gun to blaze if you play with the L dot O dot X dot at the end We da niggas thats gonna leave with the pot at the end....." P's verse on this is amazing
I love these episodes. Ideas for the next ones. 1.Militia remix rakim and W.C 2. Nas is like 3. Ras Kass Golden Child. Thank you for the hip hop history lesson.
DJ Premier is the greatest producer of all time in the entirety of hip hop. So many classic beats…. This one is one of my favorites tho. Such an offset piano sample but works so well.
When I copped my doubles on wax, and heard the intro, I knew that it was going to be juggled. Not a tableist or a battle DJ by any means, but making an attempt to beat juggle was where it was at. Dang, Premier, another one of my fav. productions. Salute!!!
The second picture shown in reference to DJ Scratch, is actually DJ K La Boss. EPMD's first DJ. I blame that mistake on some young intern y'all got working with y'all.
Technically, K La Boss was EPMD's second DJ. Diamond J was the first ("If the beat is fresh then Diamond J will spin it."). You're right though, it's the wrong picture.
This song is a CLASSIC. The hard Preemo drums over the slower type melodies like this one or like Joe’s shit is real remix always do it for me. Throw in the Lox, who all did their thing, and you have a certified classic. One of my favorites.
Damn this song brings back so many good memories. I just moved to Atlanta when this album was released and remember listening to this track daily as I drove around the city.
22 years later, "Recognize" still bangs hard.
ohh yeah!
Yessir 💯 It is forever nice!
Classics are just that- classic
funny you mention it, premier has a channel he goes over these old beats he's made. Just put out his Recognize one today lol
Timeless

I was playing that album the day in May 2001 when I caught a murder case. Still in jail now just lucky they gave me a laptop
@@bluesman7865 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

This beat is still SO HARD! Mix with Jay Z “So Ghetto” in da club to keep ish extra gritty ‘n grimy!
I am gonna steal that
So ghetto too fast
@@djbrizzletrill So Ghetto is 93bpm. Recognize is 92bpm.
@@djbrizzletrill yes it is but “Recognize” can be sped up and or you can zigga in on the drum intro of “So Ghetto”

What a fuckin record! We played that album constantly in 98/99 - this was always one of my favourite! Soooo much #Respect Premo! RIP to GURU
They way Preemo did the scratches on Eve's voice at the end of the song was hella dope
"...don't get it, twisted y'all..." 💪🏼💯
One of my favourite Hip Hop tracks period, not just for the LOX, but period. It goes so hard.
as a old computer nerd who loves hip hop, this is just the best.
"ok computer, run it back'
LOVE IT
I've been waiting for this one. Probably my favourite LOX song. All 3 verses are gods tier. The Eve scratch at the end is pure eargasm.
