Note to Chaparral Motorsports ....PLEASE do not sell these elements to owners of machines that come with paper elements and no support cage! PLEASE inform HiFlo that it is totally NOT acceptable ....I mean unless you also have a cage for sale made to work with Hiflo for these bikes AND tell the buyer they MUST have a cage that fits the element or it can NOT be used (example being XR650L) ....Now you know so please don't be part of the problem!! BTW a UNI cage? Way too large for little Hiflo element ...maybe the old ones? Maybe Twin air? But unless THAT is soundly established and the buyer is INFORMED? How and why would ANY retailer want to offer these for such machines? It would make me despise a retailer if they knowingly sold such to me when I NEEDED a new filter to do a ride and got something I only had to return....which is what happened on Amazon ....and then I had to fight for shipping refund! Which at least Hiflo did authorize....but I had to demand it first...
Thank you for your message Dougie. We just got off the phone with Hi-Flo and they have a foam filter created, but is is useless until their "cage" is finished. We were told that in about 2 or 3 months there will be a cage available for sale for three different year ranges of XR650L bikes and they are as follows: XR 650L 2012 - 2013 ; XR 650L 2000 - 2009 ; XR 650L 1993 - 1996. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
Go one step better Bro... I drain all the oil out and take the sump pan off as well , huge weight savings .. minus the oil - the pan - drain plug - and the filter... adds a few hp also.

Does the a/f ratio need to be altered?
Are the HiFlo foam air filters supposed to be pre-oiled?
(i.e. no need to oil a brand new filter)
