Hi Jordan, I’m a blue belt who trained consistently for 3 years and then fell away, in the last 3 years I can count on one hand how many times I’ve done jiu-jitsu. Randomly came across one of your videos on my recommended. Your method of teaching through conceptual learning rather than trying to remember a million specific techniques really resonated with me. I was back on the mats 2 days after I watched a bunch of your videos, excited to be back learning. Thank you!
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsuI know you probably won’t see this, but watching your videos made me insanely better. I’ve even had my coach tell me he doesn’t know why I’m as good as I am with such short training. I always recommend your videos if anyone has questions about bjj or want to train, but don’t know where to start
You are one of the most educational bjj channels in youtube for sure. I really feel like I'm learning when I watch your videos. You're a beast, keep up!!
Important lessons that have sunk in from your channel (Most gets forgotten Haha): 1] Break Grips & Gain Grips 2] Get Head control & don't let your head be controlled 3] Keep your butt down to avoid sweeps Thank you very much :)
Love this breakdown. Also, as a 10th Planet guy, it was really cool/interesting to see the effective counters to our general style of rolling. Great stuff.
That bit at 2:33, the americana grip escape, is really cool. Reminds me of how you can get a looooot of mileage out of spamming kimura grips, especially in no-gi, in terms of positional control.
Hey guys this is an old video. I re-did the commentary on this video because I thought I could do a better job. Hope you guys like it! Heard the podcast on Spotify. It was informative and interesting to dig into thoughts that we all BJJ practitioners have. I have to say professor is ok because you are teaching. People will always see you as their teacher, coach, professor. Keep them podcast coming!
I like the points in the corner, it reminds us how quickly the scoring can go in a match. I don’t personally like the points system but at first it was a way to determine which fighter was in the better position in a self defense situation so I think it can help to keep track of those
I rolled with Zach a couple days ago, safe to say he is monster, u should come down to 10th planet Etobicoke every once in a while, it’d be sick if u did some seminars as well!
Jordan, I don't know why but the way you present this material really resonates with me! Just subscribed to your podcast. Cheers from Woodstock, NY, hermano , and thank you
1. You have to address what is preventing you from doing what you want to do. 2. Position first. 3. Higher hips win the scramble. 4. You can't go through frames; you have to collapse or go around them. 5. In armbar get your leg over the head or grip the leg before leaning back. 6. Grips need to be purposeful.
Really awesome vid, thanks. That dude was definitely skilled, but yeah, unorthodox AF. I'd love to see you put out a vid specifically on leg lock counters/prevention to deal with this type of guy.
Thanks for the great content Jordan ! I love watching your videos. Is it bad that I’m looking forward to the day that I get to see you finally tap though ?
damn man, keep up the grind. You have helped me improve my bjj more than I could imagine when watching YT videos. You definitely help give me bjj homework outside of the gym.
Man your videos are amazing, you are precise and efficient with your explanations and could watch your videos for hours and hours (it's 3.40 right now here😂). The points are a really cool feature but as an MMA guy I would love to see also a no-gi roll MMA related keeping strikes in mind and how it's better to adjust for that type of grappling scenario if it's something that interests you. Keep it up man you are one of the best fighting channels on RUclips and probably the best in BJJ, congrats from Italy!
I appreciate that so much my friend! MMA grappling videos are coming soon! I've been meaning to for a while but hurt my wrist then my ribs. Shouldn't be much longer :)
Absolutely great stuff here Jordan. I absolutely love the Knee slice to smash pass and vise versa. I use it all the time in the gym and I didnt even think about it until i watched it! Now I'm completely hooked on your channel. I really appreciate this continent. It is making my jujitsu better which is helping make my students better as well. Thank you. Much love from Colorado.
Definitely one of the best bjj instructors on youtube plus going agaisnt different styles I love like tenth planet....any chance you could break down some rubber guard moves?
Amazing. And I know you speed up certain parts but honestly those stalls I'd love to hear what you're thinking in those positions where the weight is going and what you're setting up. Thanks man. I love this channel.
Hi Jordan I'm a white belt from AZ and I've been training for 2 years and absolutely love your vids keep up the amazing work, if you're ever in Arizona come down to One Love Grappling Arts in north phoenix for some awesome training!
That roll was amazing! You guys are both top tier. Love your stuff man cant wait for ultimate self defence to cone out! I was really excited to see you on this season.😂😂😂😂💪💪💪
Man... That little comment at the end about being able to cross your feet for the armbar and that the notion a myth... I have ALWAYS felt this way. Plus it keeps your opponent from peeling off the top leg. Years ago I was going over the gracie blue belt combative system, and in the video Rener says to not cross your feet. I never understood why a Gracie would say that...
I think a lot of people just teach things the way they were taught rather than teach what they actually do. It's not on purpose either. There's only some specific times it's not great to cross them but more times than not it's a wise thing to do.
You have the best bjj videos, period. While I love the instructionals and rolling etc.. I've been injured 3 times in 3 months... how do you stay injury free, and what do you do when you're injured.
Thank you!! I have content coming very soon on how to stay injury free. A lot goes into it. I've been fortunate to have only very minor injuries in the last couple years which I contribute to everything I go over in the content. It'll be out soon! Hope you heal up quick and can avoid injury as long as possible 🙂
I'm 27 and training out of windsor, ontario. I started jiu-jitsu a little over 2 months ago and it has been one of the best decisions I've made in awhile. Your videos have helped me pick up so many of the little details required to develop and improve your game. I have been able to hit a few arm bars and kimuras while sparring and nothing feels better than getting a submission. Thanks so much for your time and effort, Jordan!!
Jordan, i always thought 10th planet Jits will always dominate again conventional Jits.. ur on a whole different level, much respect.. i thought he was going to at least tap u once, he’s awesome
Where is all the comments on how you must never ever cross your feet when armbaring (@6.30m) 😂. Great video and great feature with the text showing which technique your doing and why. 😃👍
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu It would be ‘killer’, but coach try to get some super high level guys who are on your level or better, would be interesting to hear you speak about what you could have done better.
Been enjoying these videos for months. One thing that I recommend to improve the experience is to narrate those written comments that show up every few seconds because I’m having to pause the video to read those every few seconds and it disrupts the flow of the video. Since sensei is narrating anyway why not read those text inserts as well so we don’t have to pause the video multiple times. Thanks for the great content.
I agree 100%. I do a much better job now with pacing them now. This one was from almost 6 months ago. Ultimately what I'm saying is more important than what iS written and I recommend watching twice. One without reading them and one with reading them.
Jordan, late to the game here but the points on top are amazing, I am just starting BJJ and don't exactly know what gives points or how many, keep those up! thank you for your videos!!

100%. They key lock (Kimura and Americana) are such dominate grips. Because it's two arms controlling one. Two is always stronger.
what does spamming a Kimura grip mean please?
@@savedbyhismercyandlove I think he means faking going for a kimura in order to improve position
This channel has changed my Jiu Jitsu forever, thank you Jordan!!

This is my favorite rolling commentary you've done. Absolutely beautiful work against a very skilled opponent.
"understanding where the opponent's weight is will make sweeping much easier!"
That's a good one!

The points are an awesome addition. It's also so helpful that you continuously repeat core concepts in every video when applicable
Thanks! I am happy you found them to be of use 🙏 Which concept was the most useful to you?

Hi Jordan, I’m purple belt and sometimes I find my game is so basic and I see your videos who reconforted myself. I love it.
The editing and the data you share, its really amazing. The breakdown in the bottom left is the NEXT LEVEL bjj commentary.
That triangle choke set up was great. I rewatched it 5 times to fully understand what you did there. Gonna try to pull that off myself one day.

The big part about crossing your feet for the armbar is not crossing the wrong foot over the other, releasing pressure from the head.
That was a sick roll!!!
