  • We’ve dealt another legal blow to Sadiq Khan’s ULEZ expansion.
    The High Court will now hear two additional grounds challenging the lawfulness of the Mayor’s cash grab.
    I’m in Cudham, one of the rural villages where Labour wants to impose ULEZ, to explain what this means.

      @@Shandybrother Of course, and there is no reason why EVs shouldn't be taxed fairly. The government already receives higher revenue as EVs are generally more expensive and pay more VAT in the first instance than a comparable ICE.
      VED rates are based on CO2 emissions which discriminates low annual mileage drivers. Diesel cars produce less CO2 than petrol cars but in reality contribute far more to air pollution. Research shows that could be as much as 5 times as much, and 20 times as much as an EV.
      ULEZ is just one of numerous measures to mitigate the effects of air pollution on people’s health, as it is known that many thousands die every year from air pollution in the UK. The scheme first announced by Boris Johnson when he was London mayor and has had government support since its introduction in 2019.

    • @FullFact548
      @FullFact548 Год назад

      @Mark Scott Naive? Not only have I bought and sold more than 30 cars in my 33 years of driving, but I have also worked in the trade. My nephew is a car dealer for 30 years also, so I have a great deal of experience and knowledge from being around the motor trade for 3 decades.
      I recently counted 85 ULEZ compliant vehicles for sale on Autotrader, every one had a MOT, and none were Cat S,N,D, or C. Some even had new MOTs and below average mileage, and all were £900 or less.
      Passing an MOT emissions test is meaningless as the test is dependent on the age and type of vehicle. Whereas a car of Euro 4 standard would need lower emissions than a Euro 3. That is why ULEZ standards, which are set by the government, not Sadiq Khan, require Euro 4 for petrol vehicles and Euro 6 for diesels. The last car I owned I bought in 2017 was a 2005 210hp Saab 9-3 that cost me £1,300. Not only was it ULEZ compliant, but it was also extremely reliable and a pleasure to drive.

      The CONsevative government are fully supportive of Khan's ULEZ money grab. They do not have the honesty to admit this but it is another notch on their quest of full global elite control over their citizens in line with their masters at the WEF. Ceding health response control to the WHO is another.

    It is not, and never was, about pollution. Right form the original congestion charge, it was always about raising money. The problem is that Khan belongs to some kind of cabal of city mayors who appear to be controlled from Davos and their goal is to clamp down on the freedoms of the ordinary people who they despise. The best way would be for everyone to refuse to pay.

    What I fail to understand is how is a glorified councillor is able to force the government of the country to take him to court. Surely any government can have a senior minister like the Home Secretary or prime minister just tell them that they can’t pass those local laws and to stand down. So the question now is Who really does run this country? Perhaps it is now time for the post of Mayor of London to be a symbolic post only; cutting ribbons on fetes and WRVS cake competitions.

    There is more skullduggery afoot ! I bought a second hand car recently and the Road Tax should be £160 a year. Because the car when new cost over £40K I have to pay the £160 plus a further £355 on top off the £160 per year till the car is six years old. I was not aware of the extra VED when I bought the car. This to me is a stealth Tax and in my opinion should have been made public.

No I can’t because it’s a tax, thank you Gareth bacon you are a down to earth man who we need in power unlike that c**t we have now
