Just talking about it isn’t enough. For once these MP’s need to actually do something for their constituents by taking action to stop ULES and to remove this self serving mayor from office. What’s the point of having a government if they can’t override authoritarian actions that are against the will of the people. There must be constitutional guidelines to do so.
I maybe wrong here but, I have a sneaky notion that the Members of Parliament are extremely happy farming out their dirty work onto County Councils and local mayors to push this carbon net zero agenda and 15 minute cities as I am convinced that the majority of MP's are with the WEF & UN initiatives to force their dictaks onto populations throughout the western world. All over RUclips appearing daily videos of County Council & District Councils attempting to foist undemocratic rules and regulations upon local citizens that the people are extremely unhappy about. Don't think I am making any excuses for Khan who will jump on the bandwagon of anything he thinks will make money and cause misery for the people of Greater London, Khan has trashed London and I should know having lived there for 60 years.
Khan is not fit for purpose. His finances are like a leaky bucket. Instead of fixing the bucket, his remedy is to just keep pouring more and more water in it to keep the level up and this is what he is doing by hitting the poor old motorist with these draconian charges.
I grew up in Orpington. Where I live now, my local city, Turin, has had a ULEZ zone and low emissions days for years. Despite obliging people to keep buying new cars, the general idea is to reduce pollution and smog thus heavily polluting (sic) vehicles are simply not allowed to travel in the restricted zones. I don't see how paying 12 quid 50 is in any way reducing pollution. And from experience, if you let them get away with inflicting ULEZ in Orpington, they will not stop there. It WILL get more and more restrictive.
Unfortunately, this is more about the Mayor than the people he's supposed to represent. Londoners. He grandstanding and playing to the C40 organisation of which he's the Chair of. He's effectively representing himself, and by slight of hand able allow TFL to profit at the same time. What I dont understand is that there appears to be no legal framework surrounding the consultation, when it's clear we were protentially mislead. Now he's name calling decent hard working, worried Londoners all under the guise of clean air. If everyone agrees to not pay the fines, there is absolutely nothing they will be able to do. Just look at what’s happened in Birmingham and follow their lead. It’s time the public stood up for themselves and on mass they are a huge power.
