I've heard that Efren was at his peak in the 70s, and then had to take some years off because nobody would play him. Then he resumed and came to the USA. Here he is sharp, and his break is good. In the later years he weakened, and his break deteriorated a bit. He did lose to Souquet this year but did win the one-pocket and overall, in this DCC competition. Thank you for posting this video.
That's what he said himself at least a few times. He stopped playing pool and played 3 cushion for 6 years, then showed up in the US around 84 or 85 to make some money. It's hard to imagine he played better though, because he must have learned a lot playing 3 cushion and learned other things. Perhaps in the 70's he broke and shot better.
@@RichardsWorld I know what you mean, but we still cannot ignore the fact that he himself states that he was better bac then, before the cushion times.
I played Efren when he was in his prime ... a Big Tournament for 1 million dollars, winner takes all. And to my surprise... after shooting nearly perfect pool, I was one 9 Ball away from Blanking the GOAT, Efren Reyes himself. And just as I was steadying my cue for an easy corner pocket and easily my Biggest Tournament Win..... my wife suddenly WAKES me?!? 😭😭 Nooooooooo.... And I was SO CLOSE .... Damn!! 😏
Idk man, I think it'd be pretty Damn Cool to say you "played" Efren Reyes when he ran 7 and out, shooting a perfect 1000... It's not like Jimmy played poorly, the man got off his chair twice with no shot. But I bet he DID have the best seat in the house to witness the GOAT .... doing GOAT things.!!
Damn I love Danny D doing commentary. Always the best. Throws in a lot of knowledge about the game, chips in about the players history, accepts/negates others commentators when needed.
Hat's off to Danny DiLiberto, great commentating. So many want to find a weakness in Efren game, so since they can't they resort to talking about his break. Efren Reyes hands down is the best player I've seen in my 60+ years. The only thing that can match him is his "humility".
I've watched dozens of these old videos - let's get some likes for the straight commentator for constantly smoothing over the old man commentators lack of wit and coarse attitude. It's like a running joke these two - he handles that dope like a champ ! Hats off!
Jimmy is an excellent player too. In this match he had a big bad luck. Things that can happen to everyone. But he keeps being a great player and Efren the GOAT. I respect both players. It's all. Thanks ACCU.
Thx for the upload..but the video is already on youtube! Lol... The "perfect match"... Also, please upload Efren's semi-final and final matches from Derby city classic One pocket 2006. Please, please, please!! At least the final against Jason Miller. Thank you!!
You can see Burt Kinister chewing gum in the crowd behind Efren around the 6m35s mark. He has some good instructionals that started showing up on youtube during the last year.
When u get a chance to play pool with a wizard all you need to do is just sit still, watch and learn. 😂😂😂 even you're dying inside because of humiliation...
I think Efren already did play in a snooker table & it was actually against Ronnie O'sullivan but that was a very long time ago back when Ronnie was just a teenager & Efren did won the match
If I was that good Reyes I wouldn't let anyone win a game 🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱 his pool record was 160 --60 Can't imagine he lost 60 games If he won them the other players would be like I'm not playing him!!!

It wasn't Efren. It was Caesar Morales
@@mef12727 You know the story, right?

Glad to see you guys post a legitimate copy of this match. Quality is great! Love to see Efren shoot "lights out"
Thanks for the upload! Can’t help but feel for Jimmy.

Legends say jimmy still waiting his shot until now
😂😂😂 you're totally right

1:28 “Reyes wins the lag.” MATCH OVER!!!
Efren 7th break was on purpose that's how humble he is the GOAT🐐
the "You Name It" on Efren's list of titles is what got me...truly the GOAT

Efren Reyes hands down is the best player I've seen in my 60+ years. The only thing that can match him is his "humility".
Efren should have always played like this.
NEVER NEVER NEVER LET the opponent have an opportunity. !!!!
is it possible for u to upload some more match in the 90s with Efren in it. plz
I've watched dozens of these old videos - let's get some likes for the straight commentator for constantly smoothing over the old man commentators lack of wit and coarse attitude. It's like a running joke these two - he handles that dope like a champ ! Hats off!
Its the infamous "Efren why are you so mean?" match lol
I will be training and mentored by Jimmi Wetch. That's the reason why I'm watching him in this video.
Well, I guess you’re proficient with the ‘how to hold down your chair’ portion of his teachings.
This was a flawless display.
I will be sharing my personal thoughts on this strange comment, that's the reason why I'm commenting on this post right now.

How is Danny D doing? I really enjoy his commentary, he’s a true legend.
When he's asked, he says" he's feeling better than ever".
Wetch is half Reyes age..so who but the best to learn from..and watch and learn is the best strategy..hes definitely a future master
Also video as usual.. but are you eventually gonna post the Final??
Would love to watch that one....
Yes I will
more efren reyes pls
Efren is a super killer and great player to watch all the time

I did find the match and filed a "copyright infringement" notice.
D8-1P3 is on our list. SF & F will be shown as a double feature. Thanks.
Utterly amazing.
VERY COOL..! Thank You.!
Great match
Good ol' Efren
Efren after the perfect match looking at his watch and like...shit took me that long...
Jimmy is cool and has a cool pool room.
You can see Burt Kinister chewing gum in the crowd behind Efren around the 6m35s mark. He has some good instructionals that started showing up on youtube during the last year.
Stevie Moore done this to me once😂 i shot a lock down safe he kicks it in and runs the set out to 7..

Best pool player ever
Where would pool be today if Cesar Morales never came to the states in 1982? Lol man efren is an incredible pool player
WETCH HAD A ANGRY FACE,EFREN BATA REYES ALMOST FINISH THE MATCH,WITHOUT MISSING THE BALL,PROUD PILIPINO HER"THE MAESTRO!!
Has Efren been on a snooker table would love to see him tear that up. I think he would not take long before being on top of the pile.
I think Efren already did play in a snooker table & it was actually against Ronnie O'sullivan
but that was a very long time ago back when Ronnie was just a teenager & Efren did won the match
Nobody plays snooker.
I don't want to sound critical, but Reyes basically handed this match over to Jimmy Wetch, on silver platter, at 24:19 (with that sloppy dry break).
Is Scott Smith still alive? I've asked several times, Haven't got a response, He is the best referee to ever do pool, Let me know someone, thank you
He's still kickin'
Nice😎
Efren using a Tiger medium tip is weird to hear since Efren is a big fan of elk master tips
I don't think the commentators are too keen on each other. 😂
Scott “The Shot”!
Jimmy shpuld have brought a camera he had the best seat in the house! Could have sold the footage!!!
I was there. I See little landon there to.
I can't stop staring at that spiked hair....
Volume is kinda low.
Let that be a lesson always practice the lag lol
Poor Jimmy man, the man couldn't get a win and got wrecked by Reyes here 😢. Legit the most one sided match I've ever seen
The Goat
The GOAT My Idol Efren Bata Reyes
Efren Reyes is the GOAT!
this guy is good. who is he?
This is why alternate break was invented 😂
how can you win when you can not even given the chance to chalk your cue stick.
Soooo that's how to play pool. Got it.
It’s impossible to always have first hand stories!
Jimmy didn't play very good. I mean he didn't get to play much 😃
Lol perfect 000
Can I breathe now?
You only practice 4hrs? We filipino almost 24 hrs in money game everyday..and you played efren in its most prime age 40's
Thanks for the upload. The match was too short!
Yes it was
Beautiful table..that's a piece of art
If I was that good Reyes
I wouldn't let anyone win a game 🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱 his pool record was
160 --60
Can't imagine he lost 60 games
If he won them the other players would be like
I'm not playing him!!!
do you have the video of efren reyes vs bustamante 8 ball 2001 invitational
Yes. It's on our list for RUclips soon.
Efron's best attributes are no frills and no talk.
Wetch got completely destroyed by the GOAT.
Do I get to play
Me again 👁️👁️
28:58
Influence Johnny archer!, lol enough said
Being professional pool I know they can get better commentary than those guys!!
Mark Wilson knows nothing about pool. Try not to take what he says as facts otherwise you'll game will be destroyed.
I don’t know… his book is pretty good 😅
This is our efren Reyes men! Win or loose I'm with efren
There is nothing Jimmy can do.. Efren is the Goat and he isn't!
