Ive been playing nine ball for nearly 40 yrs and I've never seen a player with as much talent as Efren! It's remarkable to watch! That commentator's heavy breathing is waring on me! Must be Mizerak.
@lancel71, I go back hustling pool just as long as you, and I haven't come across so-called pool sharks as good or talented as Efren. I think Efren has a pool table inside his head.😊
Just to be clear... I'm an efren fan; to me, he's the GOAT. With that out of the way, 11-10, Davenport shooting at the 7 ball up table, at 1:31:28, lady 2nd row, more or less in davenport's line of sight, sneezes as he commits to the final stroke (the definition of sharking; might as well have pulled a bed sheet out of her purse). 😳 she doesn't even do the nose twitch thing before the sneeze. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt but man it's convenient and well timed. The 7, 8, 9 was a basic out and davenport breaking well. If he had run that out, and gone up 12-10 right there, might have had a very different ending due to his confidence and thought process possibly being affected. Davenport goes up 12-10 anyways as efren ends up hooking himself. I like to think efren realized what happened and found a subtle way to give it back. Like i said before, I'm a big efren fan. He is my favorite player by far not just because of his technical, tactical, and mental skills related to pool, but he is a true ambassador of humanity.
Efren has given back the rack to quite a few folks after a hiccup. I saw him once foul the queue ball but the referee didn't call it. The next rack I can tell he missed a ball on purpose to give the rack back.
I loved watching old school pool. The quality of play, skill and talent during this era was beyond what pool is right now. Nowadays, it’s all jumpshots like 3 point shots for the NBA, low quality.
If you kind of look at it, Reyes actually has a strong break. But it's physically taxing to him because he's not a natural big breaker like Bustamante and the others. So when he grew older, he sacrificed to preserve some of that strength in exchange for more ball control and accuracy because he's the best in the world on those areas.
What I notice is how HUGE the pockets are. I am slightly older than Efren and remember the older tables. Today, we play with younger people who are used to the tighter pockets and they smile as we oldies but goodies reminisce of the good old days.
I just laugh in my seat at how Efren play the one ball @ 22:08. Look how he hit the one with the cue ball passing in between the five and eight balls to play the safety shot😆😆😆That shot at full table length, no one would dare to do.
Excellent match. Reyes lost this one but he will come back with a vengeance to win this tournament in 1995 against Strickland. That's a tremendous game where he executed the world-famous Z-shot in a do-or-die, hill-hill title match. He won this tournament 3 times so he's always played well here.
Efren actually won the SRO four times, and Davenport won it three times. The most wins belong to Johnny Archer who won the SRO five times between 1991 and 1995.
I love how they talked down about efren. They didn’t like pool players unless they were American. Low and behold efren playing for many years. With no question being the greatest player to ever play the game. Ever!!
@@gerry8674 the man lost his fair share to the Americans but I gotta say he is the goat. Look at what the Hong Kong match vs Strickland did to earl mentally. I bet u never even watched that match. The didn't come to play they came to take over and you can ask anyone who the goat is and they will tell u.
No, they actually didn't talk about him down at all. Vickery said, flat out that Efren is the best all-around player in the world. How is that talking down about someone? Efren, at this time, wasn't as great in the finals in 9 ball as he became later. And they're also evaluating his shot selections realistically and critically, rather than just deferring to his judgement as later commentators would. Efren did make some mistakes here, and it should be ok to point that out, especially given that the commentators themselves were pros.
There is a match on RUclips between Kim davenport and Johnny archer around 1995 where Johnny is winning 9-2 and Davenport makes a remarkable comeback. Watch that match
He hit the tiddi! 🙏😂 Was hilarious! I love the both of these players and I have Kim Davenport's Target pool and is definitely increased my numbers! Well done!
I believe that Efrén Reyes has telekinesis when he concentrates on playing well and can dominate the balls mentally, although Efrén must not know that he has telekinesis unconsciously obviously. What is certain is that Efrén Reyes's destiny is to be the best pool player in the world despite the fact that he has lost pool games because he does not concentrate well...
Always liked Kim Davenport, even way back when I was a younger player. But I can't help to think the guy fell deeply in love in 1978 and they said to him, "Never change." And then he didn't. Not ever. Mustache and feathered hair in 1994 for the love of god Kim why.
Wtf is wrong with a mustache and feathered hair? It’s better hairdo than all these freaks are wearing nowadays, heck now they got blue, orange, green hair and 30yr olds that are bald 👩🦲
@@DodgeMan74 his right eye was hit by a golf ball in 2002. He never recovered fully from that. He's only 47 years old at the time and could have had at least 10 more years of competitive play.
