    Thank you for sharing. This helped me become 'unstuck' and motivated me to pick up the pen and paper and move forward with making my step 8 list.

    For the last 15 years in Jan-Apr I have been facilitating a women's step study from my area AA meetings and ran across your You tube videos about the steps and really liked them a lot and have been sharing them and have introduced lots of women to you. Just wanted to let you know how much I/we appreciate all you do for us all. Thank you. I don't know if you still do them but they are still reaching out to us.

      Hi Nanny - Thanks so much for letting me know that my videos have been helpful. Yes, I'm still doing them. I post videos every Monday. I also offer free recovery support meetings that are based in compassion. They are not 12-Step meetings, but many people use them as ancillary support to their AA program. Just thought I'd let you know. There's more information on my website at www.drkjfoster.org
      Thanks again!

    I love your show videos ! I'm ten months clean and besides my sponsor, your guidance is being super helpful, I find to share within I feel more comfortable and sharing with. I feel like I find being selfish, I feel that I'm getting comfortable, in the the promises little things that make the big difference. Simple life terms like sobriety! What do you recommen me to do? or how do I open up to to group? What do I need to work on?

    I’m having trouble with ammends to someone that I believe did me wrong, and my reaction to that was not appropriate. Any advice on how I can get to the point where I can pick up the phone, set a meeting and do this amends? I am willing, I just haven’t been able. Thank you

    • @DRKJFOSTER
      @DRKJFOSTER  2 года назад +3

      Hi Shawn - I'm not sure what I can say that will help you. I can tell you what I would do and perhaps that may help. I would pray about it and ask for the willingness to pick up that phone and set the meeting. Then pray to have the right words when you meet. Then leave the rest up to God, the Universe, or whatever force for good you believe in. Much good luck to you.

    I have disease, am being abused by authorities (traumatized), had my home and money taken away from me, stress-sick, tired, fearful despite fear-prayer, long-term sleep-deprived. I don't see my step 4.list , and am not sure what my part is in abuse by Drs, social security (Have Aspergers disability which is inconvenient but nothing I can help).
    Should I not amend that I have been co-dependent, naive, dysfunctional, but stay away? That seems wrong, I wan to own it. If they react badly, that is their thing I learnt. Your words are abit confusing, not what I heard. And they might learn/gain by my apology. Could you answer this, please? Thank you, and be well.

    What other things did you do, I need specifics! I think one should prepare mentally and be strong enough to not leave much room for (getting) new abuse by the dysfunctional one.
    Oh, I am not physically, emotionally or socially stable and have been searching professional help and treatment for 40 years. Am being witheld help and not sure what I did to deserve that, apart from having low self-esteem, naivete,inflated beliefs about them,self-centered in my dire need and sickness. Are these things real faults and harms to be amended by me?
    I really want your straight opinion and answer,if you care to think and tell me, no fluff.
    I should be grateful and happy - and thank you for your video sharing.

      Hi Claudia - I apologize for the delayed response. I'm moving and it's been a bit hectic lately. As for your question, there are definitely circumstances where making direct amends would not be a good idea and one of those is when by doing so it would put you in a position that would negatively impact your mental, emotional or physical wellbeing. Not putting yourself in a position to be physically harm is more of the obvious one, but often people don't consider the potential for mental or emotional harm. You don't want to go make an amends to someone who will then, in turn, shame you or otherwise cause mental/emotional harm. There are many ways to make amends without having to even speak to that person. It's all about putting something positive back into the relationship and/or the universe in general. This does not have to be done directly. I hope that helps.

    • @Medietos
      @Medietos 3 года назад

      @@DRKJFOSTER Thanks for your kind reply.I get what you mean, and i might be wrong, but then it would be a bit like cheating to stay away from direct amends.and not give as good a relief and transformation.I'd accept the ways you say if no other was possible. But I want to clean house properly, and prepare mentally for hard cases,and get to eta, sleep, an go for a walk before, to be as strong and balanced as possible. And is not one's higher power and God supposed to be helping one form one's decision and way of amending?
      I realise, that mý real difficulty is not that amending itself, but having sickness, trauma and tiredness.

      Their response is not your responsibility. It's about putting something positive back into the relationship or even the universe. Sometimes it's not advised to make direct amends if it might cause more harm; to them or YOU.
