  • Erin, a Policy analyst, noticed a profound affect on her well-being during a visit to Ecuador. She will contrast her experiences there with her familiar but detached routine in America.
Erin has at different times been called a flight risk (traveling widely), policy expert and future author. However, today she will share her private self and her history of depression and anxiety, starting in her teenage years. At various times she has taken prescription anti-depressants and -anxiety medications, but the many negative side effects led her to abandon medication as a viable option several years ago.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

Wonderful. We need more of this courage. This will go viral, it has to. Erin, people like you make the misunderstood, understood.

Thank you for your courage Erin. It is so kind to normalise the experiences of anxiety and depression that so many know in daily life. It is not something wrong - we are not broken! We are each so perfect and powerful just as we are and it is magnificent and so important for us all to take responsibility for our own minds and our power to benefit all, in every moment. Thank you for all you are giving, to yourself and to everyone.

Erin, you are so cool. I love you for your ability to climb unassisted onto a fishing boat in the middle of the bay at Fond la Grange in Haiti... and tell us to 'let me do it myself'. I see so much of your Ted Talk in action in that work we do. Thanks for sharing. I love you. m
