Another great one! This is just one more of the many comments that will get lost in the pile but Carson... I really enjoy your voice and your delivery of the songs you do. You, Skylar, Josh, Elle, Toni.. ALL of the folks you introduce or collaborate with have been a great amount of musical comfort to this old guy. It's apparent that music won't die a painful death with people like you folks around. Thanks!
This song (and the whole album it's on) was the soundtrack of my mum making dinner when I was a little kid, it has such a special place in my heart - thank you so much for this gorgeous cover!
Soulful and musical, well done Mr. McKee. The clarity of the sound does a great job carrying your voice and the rhythmic drive of your guitar playing...The acoustic lead guitar break was tasty and just what the tune called for...With any justice in this world your music will be much more well known...But as it stands what you have done is already moving and artful and that counts for a lot...Thank you for what you do.
What a great songwriter Iris is. Particularly when she was young, she "was willing to go there." I think that gets harder w age; the early work is so often better than the late. Especially in music.
Congrats on hitting 100K subs!!!! You are really good and this song is no exception. So glad I found your channel. Really enjoy your vibe. I'm kinda hoping to see more frequent posts from you.
Thanks so much - I'm still amazed! And more regular posting is the plan...I've done about three videos a month since this fall, which is an increase. Hoping to keep the train rolling.
Thank you for introducing me to a new song! This one’s going on my Favorites list. And I’m thinking it would go well on my “To be played at my funeral” playlist, for real. Edit: I just checked out the original - which is good. I also found a version by Natalie Merchant / 10,000 Maniacs and David Byrne - which is fun. But I still like yours better.
Wow that guitar break was a very nice surprise. There are two people playing in my office speakers. Presence is nice too. Thanks for the break in my work day. Good to hear.
Carson, so good to hear you covering Iris. I remember when WUMB started playing music off her Infamous Angel album, I thought that I had died and one to heaven, So her 1st trip to the Boston area, I made sure to be there. So thank you, and keep up the good work.
Hey Carson (from a 70 year old drummer playing for about 57 years now) you have such a soothing and great voice and whenever I see you on my feed, I always listen...thank you.
Great job Carson. So rare to find anyone covering the amazing songs of Iris. Carson, I don't know if you've ever heard of a folksinger from the 60s named Phil Ochs. I heard an album of his way back when called "All the New That's Fit to Sing". Teenage me was blown away. I believe that album is available on YT. I am leaving a link to a cut from that album called "Power and Glory". Give it a listen. See what you think. Also there is an old Haggard song that never got the attention it deserved called "Daddy Frank (The Guitar Man)". I'll leave that link also. Hope you enjoy them (if they are new to you). 1) Phil Ochs - ruclips.net/video/LWcJVojSNk8/видео.html 2) Merle Haggard - ruclips.net/video/_9AgV0Gkk64/видео.html
Beautiful performance of a great song. Good on ya for not trying to key it up to Iris's level. I wonder how it would sound to have some of Jim Hogan's amazing tenor tones coming in during that chorus. Thank you Carson, from a guy at your performance at the venue next to the Oregon Cheese Cave in Phoenix Oregon a few years ago! 🙂
I don’t know if it just me, but when I close my eyes and listen, there is some sound resemblance between Carson and Bob Dylan. I’m probably out way in Left field but to me wow.
Carson - if enough people in this country were awash in the euphoria and good will I feel when I listen to you perform, our politics would start working again, there would be a party on every block, and the rancor and discord wouldn’t stand a chance. Your guitar and voice are the cure for much of what ails us. Keep them coming!
I like this a lot. Trying to figure (finger?) what note/chord you are playing after the D / Dsus2? I have the progression as D G A D shapes, but you are using the 5th fret relative to the capo. Many thanks.
@@carsonmckeemusic It's a thing for me, seeing a twelve string not being played. I just love the distinct sound of them. And, your description of it matches me, to a tee! 😉
Another great one!

Well said.
I fully agree
You are criminally under-subscribed and always have been. Congrats on the 100k.
Fantastic man! Nobody's dare covered this song, but I think Iris would be impressed!
ruclips.net/video/9Gk8JJTinUI/видео.html Well, somebody has, I am sure Iris would be flattered
Carson's version is excellent. But do check out the version by Natalie Merchant and David Byrne. You wont regret it ;)
@@sklantharregulus2100 I have not seen that, but thanks, I'll go find it. Just the fact that it's those to guarantees it to be a win in my book.
I see Carson covering Iris Dement I'm clicking straight away. Awesome job dude
I saw iris last fall in a small Fall River Venue. You just did her way proud. Thanks
I remember this one from the The Leftovers opening, such a lovely song
I've been on a Steve Goodman and Handsome Johnny binge today... then here you go covering Iris DeMent! Fitting. Lovely rendition, Carson.
Carson really knows how to tell the story of a song.

One of my favorites 👏🏻
So relaxed and natural. Thank youl
Very well played and nice guitar sound again my friend!🎸
A beautiful rendition of a beautiful song!!
Superb job Carson!

I can't count the amount of musical artists I've been introduced too by Carson and his friends/collaborators. I'm now on an Iris DeMent binge.

your setup sounds awesome man. been a fan of this song for a while. love some existentialism
👍👍👍👍👍👍 great voice and guitar playing!
This oughta be on Spotify. I'd have it on repeat. Why isn't it on the radio? So good.
Congrats on 100k! It was a few thousands when I started following. Keep them songs coming, I really enjoy your smooth voice. Greetings from Finland 🎂💪
Wow that guitar break was a very nice surprise. There are two people playing in my office speakers. Presence is nice too. Thanks for the break in my work day. Good to hear.
Thank you for this rendition. I loved this song from the first time I heard it. You did a great job.

I always enjoy your renditions Carson, and I love your taste in music. Keep ‘em coming!
Really great cover and great song choice! Loved the Leftovers too back in the day haha.
Awesome Carson!
Love Iris DeMent and your cover of this is first rate. Another home run!
That second guitar staying in after the solo is perfect.
Terrific song, great cover. One of my all time favorites!
As always, your music and voice wrap me up all cozy for a spell. Thanks ❤
Well done Carson. Everything sounds great!
Hey Carson (from a 70 year old drummer playing for about 57 years now) you have such a soothing and great voice and whenever I see you on my feed, I always listen...thank you.
Iris demrnt wrote the song years ago
Josh is/was the "flash" but
Carson, YOU are the substance!
Take what you got and run with it!
(You were the "get-away" guy!)
GO!
Wow it’s been years since I heard this song…nice job, Carson!
Fantastic rendition, as always. Keep up the great work!
Love the Leftovers and this song. Great Cover. I covered it too, many years ago. It really does stick in your head.

Love the song. Well done.
Oh wow. Best ever cover of a favourite of mine. Thank you.
Nice! When Y'all coming back to sing in Charlotte?? Did you forget about us? (Don't let THAT Mystery Be!) 😉😁
Love your performance and style!!
Great job, you definitely give a little Bob Dylan flavor to this song.
Another classic cover..... love it...

Thanks so much for sharing your awesome talent!!!
What a great song, I love Iris DeMent! Fine job Carson.
I don’t know if it just me, but when I close my eyes and listen, there is some sound resemblance between Carson and Bob Dylan. I’m probably out way in Left field but to me wow.
Except Carson is in key. 😅
Well done. My favorite song
I loved that show and the song resonated with me too... great choice !
No one can match Iris’s vocals but you did ok. More like you covering Bob Dylan covering Iris. 😊
Such a fantastic job! I cover this song too and wanted to hear another male voice take it on. We don't hold a candle to Iris, but we can try!
Love this song…thank you for staying true to the original….excellent cover Carson!
Congrats on 100K, brotha.
Beautiful!
I really enjoyed that, and maybe have another show to add to the list as well.
I’d love to hear your cover of Roger Miller’s “Husbands and Wives”.
Excellent Cover, well done.
Another great job, Carson!! Keep it up!!
As always just perfect❤
Good cover Carson. My favourite version is the one sung by Iris and friends on the old BBC Scotland programme Transatlantic Sessions.
That was one great series. Brought lots of great musicians together.
Fantastic!
An absolute favorite of mine. Great rendition! Looking forward to another livestream??? Congratulations on 100k subs!
Nice work, Carson. I like your voice...
Love your talent Carson. Keep up the good work buddy
One of my favorite songs. Iris rules. She'd like your version.

You kicked the crap out of that one. Great job
never heard the song before you did a great cover .
Great sound!
Excelente work Carson, keep It up
Great stuff, Carson!
Great song Carson. Well done!
Well, that was just lovely! 😃
Excellent as always 👌
Wonderful song and sentiment, and beautifully sung
This was...awesome 🎉
Like the little magic happening around 1:19.
Good job ......30'odd years and young folk are picking away on Iris's songs. Well done you.
This is great, thank you.
I like this a lot. Trying to figure (finger?) what note/chord you are playing after the D / Dsus2? I have the progression as D G A D shapes, but you are using the 5th fret relative to the capo. Many thanks.
Like What? No record deal?, ... you're amazing 🎶👌
One of your best!
Really nice job. Iris D is not an easy cover.
The mystery is, why didn't you strum that 12 string behind you?
Beautiful job anyway. 😀
It is very old and very beat up and needs a neck reset...if you capo it, the intonation is really wacky.
@@carsonmckeemusic It's a thing for me, seeing a twelve string not being played. I just love the distinct sound of them.
And, your description of it matches me, to a tee! 😉
Well done! Loved it 🥰
Amen!
Thanks Carson!
Show is awesome. Good one for you
Beautiful, Carson
I listen to iris sing song everyday I can
Fantastic.
Hey man, that's great singing and acting again👍
Good job !
Great post!
I love it!
