Before Putin invaded Georgia, Crimea, Donbas and the rest of Ukraine, he stopped talking about any reference to invading them. When Putin threatens to use nukes is when he is least likely to use them. When you have to worry is when he stops threatening to use nukes. As soon as he threatened the use of one the 1993 Budapest memorandum came into play and the united states is obligated to defend Ukraine under treaty or have their nuclear umbrella collapse which scientists in the 1970's and 80's concluded would lead to an eventual nuclear war.

Putin probably realizes he can't just use nukes tactically in Ukraine. If he uses nukes, he would have to at least develop a target list of concentrations of NATO and other US militaries as well and make sure that targeting information is sent to every launch group.

Before Putin invaded Georgia, Crimea, Donbas and the rest of Ukraine, he stopped talking about any reference to invading them. When Putin threatens to use nukes is when he is least likely to use them. When you have to worry is when he stops threatening to use nukes. As far as I can tell, he stopped talking about nukes when Ukraine invaded Russia. Normally you would think that would be the time when he would most threaten to use nukes. Just an observation.

As soon as he threatened the use of one the 1993 Budapest memorandum came into play and the united states is obligated to defend Ukraine under treaty or have their nuclear umbrella collapse which scientists in the 1970's and 80's concluded would lead to an eventual nuclear war.

Putin probably realizes he can't just use nukes tactically in Ukraine. If he uses nukes, he would have to at least develop a target list of concentrations of NATO and other US militaries as well and make sure that targeting information is sent to every launch group.
