Even if the claims of 500-700k casualties were true, it wouldn't be indicative of Russia running out of manpower. The conflict started with 120k active troops, now Russia has over 700k. And if they get wiped out take a wild guess what happens next....another large mobilization of hundreds of thousands of men will occur. This process will repeat until the war of attrition comes to an end. Look at the male population in Ukraine, and then Russia. There is more men to be mobilized on one side than the other, and it's not even close.

(meaning: assignments like, e.g.: armory personnel, refilling war machines, chock points missions, cleaning and checking war plains, jets, and ammunitios, if marines- doing maintenance choirs, getting ships ready, loading unloading equipmens, boat operators, learning ducking maneuver or staff or first aiders and evac assignments).
And a year for your to be at least a war ready soldier.
( now you can enter to battle or by this time, you've passes trainins like scout rangers, sea and land survival trainins, paratroopers, specialized machinery operators, snipers, tank asults and so on). To put a human lives in just few days or weeks to prepare for war? Is a suicide mission.
Russia don't have a month to wait, so I guess they are sending his citizens(human lives) just to be another fresh meat to war harden Ukrainians soldiers. Just saying from my military point of views.

The Russians had no compelling reason to endanger their lives to further the political ambitions of others while Ukrainian people must battle to preserve their national identity or else Ukraine would cease to exist.

Reason 1 is force, you may easily be forced into service exactly the same way as conscription worked in middle ages.

I think it's more pragmatic than that, but still valid enough... Ukraine wants to join the wave of wealth that came over the Baltic states, Poland, Yougoslavia (the Europe-friendly side of Slovenia and Croatia at least)... and it's not a zero sum game, trade and development bring prosperity, more money to spend on your loved ones ... it's understandable they don't let the gangsters from Moscow take that away from them.
