My mother died on September 23, 2012, and her sister and my sister got into a fight over the remains. Finally they agreed to divide the remains. I did it. Then they decided my aunt should keep them. My aunt told me last year she never put them back together! Please, do not fight over the remains.

Ok..heres the dilemma Im in..sons father died a yr ago..his cremains are literally still at the funeral home...he cant bear to do anything with them...several discussions, even visiting local graveyard for info, sometime later he mentioned, but what if we ever move away...which raises the thought ok so nothing permanent..not bringing in our house is best ideal...understand traditional asian culture is to bury them...but seems best if there was something where can place, and remove if move, but place can visit if need...
Thus the poor guy still hanging out in a funeral home.. to understand that, is to understand grief and the shock of a sudden death...not everyones on same time. Glass, or other designs is out question...
My friend offered to separate if he wanted some with him, and bury the urn..
    Scatter, prob not...
The funeral home has been great about this..Doubt were only ones...I cant make that decision, despite we were married a long time ago..
As far as I know our area nothing has this, though back in our home state the mausoleum has niches with glass so can see all the urns, etc..I like that thought..dont know if glass sealed permanently...
Just need to find right place.
Options here, bury, or place in a box style thing, or they have rock to place in, or sealed in mausoleum, or an underground tank for outside to pour cremains on, and everyone is permanently together

It surprised me at the weight of my sister's ashes when I picked them up as she had lost a lot of weight that proves it!

Thanks Kari! Excellent as always. Do cremation operators ever discover bullets among the ashes of those who were shot, or shot themselves? I suppose they would melt, and likely all are carefully removed at autopsy, if one is done. But do bullets ever find their way into the crematorium?

I would imagine that they were removed during autopsy.

How much would go inside a baseball if you took the core of the ball out? That’s what my dad wants.

    • @howellomaha

She said that you would get back 4-8 cups of remains and if I google what the inside of a baseball looks like, the core is tiny.

They have baseball urns you can write on even. It would hold less than a cup

4 to 8 cups? My tiny mother's "ashes" filled a huge box. The three of us ran out of places to put all of it, and we were covered in her "ashes", which were not ash textured, more like oatmeal colored flour. That stuff blew around in the air. My shoes and the inside of my car were covered with it. Hand prints! 12 x 12 and 8 inches wide box.

It is not ash so you don't hear me use that. a person can yield a lot and can be more or less depending on the processor

    We funeral directors
Transfer the remains in these small urns . Not only that but we educate the family in this situation
I’m not sure why the public need to know since we funeral directors going over this case by case

Wish we had this in Africa. A guy came to our house & handed the box with my Son 's ashes to me. Not even a phone call to say that they were coming. My husband and I have decided to be body doners. I think you are great. We had awful experiences with our late Daughter and Son.
