- In 1966, Jim Henson and the Muppets produced a commercial for the Ideal Toys versions of Kermit and Rowlf, the first licensed hand puppets of the Muppets. The Snerf puppet that appears in the commercial was never actually sold.

I think Ideal must have accidentally channeled a bit of Wilkins into their Kermit.

I love how the Kermit dolls are more threatening and nightmare-inducing than the Snerf spiders with realistic-looking tarantula hair and spindly legs.

Great as the Wilkins commercials and other ones are, I think this one would be my favorite because of how the humor is just everywhere, from Snerf, to Rowlf’s impatience, to Henson adding a hilarious creepy factor to the ideal toys versions, and Rowlf being relatively nonplussed at the threat of harming the kids.
plus, how often do you have the actual people behind the licensed property not just in the commercial but MAKING the commercial... to sell things that, at the time, were largely famous for.. being in commercials.
That'd be like Walt Disney animating and voicing a Mickey Mouse cartoon about Mickey Mouse getting to be in a cartoon

Ideal Toys originated in Hollis,NY in 1903. In 1982 after 79 years of terrific toymaking, Mattel bought this company out. This was a funny
sales film; too bad it did not have the notable tagline-It's a wonderful toy; it's Ideal.
My sister would have loved this. Her two favorite Muppets where Ralph and Scooter.

i think the reason why they didn't sold the serf puppet is because Serf wasn't a main line character in the Muppet most seen character and the children in that time probably wouldn't like it and wont know how to control the puppet its self.
