This looks SO good! I want some!!! You and Darcy are getting me into trouble! Today a jar vacuum sealer came…..I’m seriously going to get the food chopper/slicer she uses now…..and now I want a steam canner! Think he’ll kick me out after 52 years? Bahahahahahaha!!! ❤ I want to can but hate my water bath canner…..yours looks so nice and easy and not heavy!! Oh I’m in so much trouble! 🤣😂🤣
@@SuttonsDaze I’m getting away with the food chopper since I sliced on my first knuckle with my mandolin…..both of them are going away and Darcy’s slicer will take their place! But I keep finding so much…..I can’t have a large garden so I’m going to plant what I can process and keep! I keep telling him it’s for HIS own good….Love both of you ladies! You’re my go to pantry people!!!❤️
You are my bestest new friend ever ever! You know that I have a plethora of apples this year. This is a great idea! Yet another way to use apples! I canned more applesauce last night. That makes 38 pints altogether this year. And 7 quarts of apple pie filling. Next is apple butter. This sounds completely delicious! Thank you!
I just love your channel. The wonderful light humor you add in your videos is so terrific; you always bring a grin or a laugh! Thanks for the recipe! ❤️👍
You can buy it at your local Mennonite store too! I’ve got a ton of calcium water in my fridge. 🤦♀️ Lol Pamona’s pectin is so awesome- I’m a Type 1 diabetic. Makes it so much easier to dose insulin for.
Love this recipe! My granddaughter just was given a water bath canner and I sent her a beginners book on canning and this will be a wonderful starter recipe for her. Thank you!
Easy recipe, yeah. I’m asking for a steam canner for Christmas. Let’s hope Santa comes through. Good 👍 job, pretty lady. You’re a great teacher. Thanks for sharing. Love 💕 and Hugs. ❤❤❤
One of my very favorite jams, EVER! Great timing, Leisa! Our Pink Ladies (apples) are beginning to blush. I love it on vanilla ice cream as well as savory waffles! So happy to see someone using Pomona's. I have some, but haven't the guts to use it yet.
Oh leisa , Thank you so much , I love apple butter and it's not on our shelves here in Texas. I'm gonna make this. God bless you Josette Tharp Texas 🙏 ❤😊
Oh my goodness, I'm getting ready to make apple butter, but I wish I could make this instead. Unfortunately my husband is pre-diabetic and I can't use regular sugar. 😕 It sure sounds yummy though!
Yummo! I am so glad to have this recipe, something else to do with apples! Especially since I lost my peach harvest, so there is a void in my jam for the year. Love your channel.
Let us know how your apples are when you get them. I’ve been wanting to order apples and pears from azure, but worried they might be too ripe or icky. Thanks in advance
@@vitalityhomeinstead1838 I ordered organic, juice grade apples, (on sale) they were small but good quality, pears which were OK (also on sale- 5 bad ones in the box, and the rest need to be processed quickly). I also ordered organic kiwi (regular price) which were all perfect. I’ve never had issues unless the produce was at a reduced price. Sometimes it’s worth the risk. ;)
Hi Leisa, I recently found your channel and have tried many of your recipes. Thank you for all your hard work to assemble these videos. Just wondering, can this recipe be doubled?
Gonna try that pectin. We ate diabetic and have had issue getting the jelly and jam to jell using Stevia sugar substitute. Just might be exactly what we need!
Are those heater grates you use to rest your jars? They're lovely! I purchased the Pomona's Pectin Preserving book because I wanted to check out the recipes first. I guess that's putting the cart before the horse but the recipe's look wonderful. I think yours is the first one I will try 😋❤
I love this jam. Ive made the regular sugar one many times now. Thanks Lesia, it is the Best. Our daughter uses it to make a topping for a spice bread. So yummy
I ordered this pectin just to try this it sounded so good! I dont know what I did wrong but I only got 3 half pint jars 😢 ... my little package had a lil more than 1 teaspoon but not 2 ... do I toss it? Is it a little more to make sure you have enough? Sorry for all the questions I want to learn because it says I can use Splenda! Game changer
Leisa! You're killing me! I was planning on making an Autumn Jam today and now you throw in Caramel apple Pie! Oh my goodness. Gotta try it. It looks delicious. Now Pomana...I'm used to SureJell. I will give it a try though based upon your recommendation. However, if I wanted to try it today with what I have at home, how much powdered pectin would I need?
Do you have to use this particular pectin? I have so much of regular and low sugar pectin, would either one of those work as well? I have clear gel as well. Just trying to not have to buy something additional for this as I already have the apples. Thank you.
Could you do a short video about just putting band's (rings) on finger tight & the reasons / science on why we don't leave them on. There's people who need something short to tell them that (a fellow I taught to can (USDA way) has listened to someone else 😢).
I love your videos. Making this tomorrow. Did you start with 4 cups of chopped apples instead of cooking down to sauce, or did you use more than 4 cups, chopped?
Currently Pomona's 1lb package is cheaper on Amazon but often it is cheaper from Azure....just a hea. Also Redmond Real Salt is quite a bit cheaper from Azure than ordering directly from Redmond
I have a question, when you buy Pomona’s Pectin in bulk the monocalcium phosphate powder does not come with the pectin. What do you use? Where do you buy the MCP??
My cherry jelly didn’t set with pomonas. Not sure what I’m going to do with it. On the bottom of jars is thickened up but the top three fourth of jar is liquid. Total bummer, I suppose I could stir it, heat up a bit and use as cherry syrup. What do you all think?
Ok we did something wrong because we didn’t have enough syrup for all the apples. I went to the website and followed the recipe. Could you tell me how many cups of apples you used in the video? TIA
I’ve been seeing folks using their pressure canners without the pressure regulator on it to steam can. Is that safe to do that? I’ve tried to research via NCHP and extension offices online but haven’t found anything.
Hi Leisa. I'm not sure if you can help me with this buuuuut, I made this last week and had some left over, so, in the fridge it went. I tried it and it tastes good but, there is absolutely no jelly in it. The apples absorbed all the jelly. Any suggestions as to how to eliminate this issue the next time I make it. Perhaps how to increase the amount of the jelly(liquid) . Thank You Leisa and again, HUGS from Canada.
Which recipe do you like better? This one, or the recipe for the caramel apple pie jam you did 3 years ago? I was planning to make some for gifts -- was going to use the 3 year old recipe, then I saw this video. Seems a lot less sugar, but then again, I want decadent because it's a holiday treat :)
I've made 2 batches of strawberry preserve with Pomona's and they both turned out so weird. I removed a lot of foam from the jam before canning it but it still turned out extremely foamy. The second batch also separated. I'm so disappointed. I have like 12 jars of weird jjam that no one wants to eat. I'm too scared to try using it again. Strawberries are expensive!! :(
A small dollop cooked inside a cresent roll served with a pork chop. We love apple with pork this would be a fun new treat. Thank you!

I wouldn't, its a jam, not a pie filling
