    You guys must have read my mind,...I made Chicken Marsala this evening for supper, but seeing Stephanie's version with fish I now know what I'm going to do with some fresh Pacific Rockfish fillets next week, after I get my shipment of fresh Morel Mushrooms from a friend outside of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta!! I also found a nice Swordfish Steak at my local grocery store that I'm anxious to try but I'm going to wait for a lovely day and cook it on the BBQ with some other fixins.
    For anyone just waiting for some reason to pull the trigger to get some AVAIL Gear, Go For It!!! The quality is exceptional, the fit is comfortable, it's just plain good clothes, for not a heap of money and with the economy the way it is that's a definite bonus for my wallet!!
    Nice video again, loved the underwater shot of the weight and the rig rocketing to the bottom, and honestly what a gorgeous day you had!! I don't mind the deep drop episodes, in fact I find it quite interesting, so please just keep on keeping on!! So what happened to your battery? did you have to switch over to an engine battery until you could charge the flat one through the engine's alternator? Hope you guys had a Fantastic Weekend and an Outstanding week to come, take care!!! - Dave

    Hey Clay i'm a foodie and I've been baking chicken with this recipe. And I think it would work awesome for fish. A mutton or dog snapper not too big and not too small . Scale it, remove entrails and gills and salt heavily. SOAK the heavily salted fish in buttermilk about 8 hours. Drain and place on a grill rack above a baking dish. Pour a generous amount of beer in the baking dish. Place the whole mess in the oven and BAKE. Perhaps cut slits in the fish's sides before salting so the buttermilk and salt can do their thing. Don't overcook and good luck.

    Absolutely nothing better than running over a glassy sea and hauling in a bunch of good eating fish. I’m with you Clay…. finding an uncrowded spot and fishing where a ton of folks don’t fish is a real key to filling the fish box. When I was young, I was told by an old salt’ that deep fishing tall water makes you a man. No it didn’t … it made you a sore tuckered guy using foul language cranking on a big bait caster all the way up. I would be sporting an electric reel these days in a nanosecond! You are spoiling that guy Stephanie with that cuisine… snapper Marsala! You two are the best. 👍

    I recently happened into this channel and love it!
    Couple of questions for you…
    In your opinion what would be a good electric reel to get into without breaking the bank for a newer saltwater fisherman?
    How do you pick your spots to head to offshore when you first started going out there?
    Thanks
    Steve

    • @LifeByTheBow
      @LifeByTheBow  Год назад

      Hey Steve, So a great beginner Reel is a Shimano beast master 9000. It won’t break the bank compared to some of the higher end electric reels. I don’t pick spots to fish, I find spots to fish. I that makes sense. The best thing to do is do your research based on prior knowledge Others have given out on the Internet based on what depth you should start fishing in based on catching your targeted species. If it’s a bottom fish, use your sonar to locate the live bottom if you don’t know how to locate the live bottom look up a video on RUclips based on how to read sonar. If it’s a surface-feeding fish like a mahi, do you want to look for signs of life by debris, birds, bait, fish, etc. hope that helps!

    So deep dropping is great fun and I think everyone should reel one in by hand at least once but once you have you’ll shut up about electric reels and be like damn I want one lol and when you get that wild itch and feel lazy you’ll reel another up by hand and be like damn why did I do this I’m exhausted and be looking at that electric reel with new light again 😊

    I never understood why CC boaters never followed the the sailing vessels way of using a couple of flexible solar panels atop the T top and an MPPT charger to keep batteries topped off while at dock or trailer. It also gives you charging to house batteries while under way or during a drift. Especially when using electric reel, trolling motors, radio, charging phones & cameras, etc... Is there any specific reason most boaters ignore that, or is it something that is a PITA in a CC boat? It seems pretty straight forward. Looking to buy my first T top bay boat next summer upon retirement and battery maintenance is something that has been on mind for a while. The fact that you lost power power from an accessory battery solidifies my concern. Or... am I just over thinking?

    • @LifeByTheBow
      @LifeByTheBow  Год назад

      Some CC (Center Console) boats do have solar set up on the T Tops. However the outboard engine alternators generate so much power it’s not really necessary. The reason why my battery died was because it was connected to an alternator. It’s just a stand alone battery I just bring on the boat only for using the electric reel. I hadn’t charged it in about 5 trips so it was my mistake.
