SeaTow, Garmin in-reach, and let her eat!!! I do similar trips in my single engine boat regularly. Proud of you for smacking the fish!!!! What a fantastic trip. Folks don't realize how much it burns reeling up a fish in 400' 😅
Nice I appreciate your guess we were a bit further than that. It also depends on where you’re at. We headed out of Anna Maria and headed south West we’re probably much more south than you. Which even a couple miles north or south on the shelf can make a significant difference.
Definitely, but if you’re really concerned about your motor starting, that would be the first to not try a run like that. (If you know what I mean) with that said even with turning off my engine whenever I fish I still put over 2,000 hours per year on my engines 🤦🏻♂️
I can’t believe you have the fuel capacity in that boat to go that distance. Has to be close to 100miles. Past the elbow at that depth. Must take forever to get the fish up. 😂 AMAZING CATCHES. WILD. WORTH IT.
BTW. If you ever need another person. I am 100% down. Love the vibe. ! And since I’ve moved to Florida, I can’t seem to find people that are the same type of crazy as me. LOL. YOU GUYS MAY HAVE ME BEAT LOL 😂 BUT TOTALLY DOWN IF YOU EVER NEED SOMEBODY TO GO AHEAD ON FUEL WHATEVER YOUR BOAT OR MY BOAT I AM DOWN
Man that’s insane what y’all caught!!! I’ve been fishing Bayronto and Charlie’s reef but looking to branch out. Do you have suggestions on how to find new fishing spots?
@@FishingWithSalty That’s a really good burn. I have twin Yamaha 150s. I would definetly be over 100 gallons, hold 150 but would probably have to tote fuel. JUST to be safe. I used to run a little over 100 in NJ to get to the canyon for tuna. We would stay over night on a trip like that. Takes about 4+ hours.
Nice video, huge gag. I’m sorry I would never go that far offshore with 1 outboard, if breakdown occurred how do you get home? Also, nice to see family dinner with prayer. God bless!!!
Yep, some people are risk takers, not me… again to each his own but I would not go 100 miles out with one engine. 95% would probably agree that type of boat not designed for trips that long. But the reward was fantastic!!!
The Coast Guard just rescued 3 men in a 31’ boat that had 3 engines. Their electrical system went out. Part of being it at sea no matter what boat you have is risky for fatalities. Even more so is driving on US 19 is a much higher fatality rate. These young men seem to be very responsible. They may very well have an Epirb and a buddy system like we use in the Tarpon Springs area. We stay within radio contact of each other keeping handhelds as well as mounted VHF radios. I’ve used single engines for 58 years. My second engine is Sea Tow and I stay in contact with other boaters and my ultimate rescue is not of this planet.
I use several! Usually cross reference between Windfinder, my marine forecast & SailFlow. It’s never guaranteed, but if those three lineup we decide to go.
Again personal choice, not many people go 100 miles offshore on 2 engines let alone one. Of course other things happen, but certain boats are not designed for 100 mile round trips. Yes, a meteor can fall out of the sky and hit your head, but many risks are controllable…. And trust me I have friends who would not run 30 miles in their 20 foot center console, I would.
@@FishingWithSaltyyou motivated me when I first started. We meet at kingfish ramp and you gave me some advice. I have taking my 22 ft single engine about 65 miles. The key is safety equipment and engine maintenance. Awesome video.

Just watched again, awesome! Curious what your experience has been like since the repower to Tohatsu
Thanks again! It’s been great, solid engine, haven’t had one issue, (very thankful) all I’ve done is all required maintenance
Yall are about 80-100 miles out judging from my last trip on Hubbard's and we were in 250 ft 75 miles out took us 2 hours to get there going 40-45

Definitely wont be making that run in June July in that rig. dont ask me how I know

What if your twins or trips lost power or fuel system problems same difference. Can’t live off “what if’s “ you wouldn’t ever do anything

Awesome man! What apps do you use to track sea conditions?
I use several! Usually cross reference between Windfinder, my marine forecast & SailFlow. It’s never guaranteed, but if those three lineup we decide to go.
How far did you go? Where did you start from?
Anna Maria a little over 120miles
I hope that wasn't Wednesday or your ride home must have been an adventure! BTW what test line do you run for that kind of fishing?
It was not 😂 I usually use 40 lb braid on my big rigs I’m a light tackle guy
What kind of structure where u fishing
I honestly don’t know other than some hard bottom ledges
Was that a particular reef you fish from or just a random spot in 400 feet water!
Particular number I was given in my network and we scanned around from there and found some unique contour to fish
That bird that was sitting on the boat is a Purple Martin
Dude, thank you so much for telling me that I was waiting for this comment reply!

They eat their weight in mosquitoes that's their normal diet
@@johnscheffel1157 dang that’s wild for such a big bird, they look like a giant seagulls
@@FishingWithSalty He was referring to the bird resting on the boat.
How many mile out was 400’ water out of Anna Maria island capt? Awesome video Captain
I'm guessing 90 miles
Thank you! A little over 100 miles offshore
Maybe someday we can buddy boat out there Capt..
@@jkroblox9723 I’d be down for that!
Pretty much right at 100 miles from bean point puts you around 400'.
How far off shore was this? Cuz I’ve gone 50 miles off Sarasota and only seen 200ft
Over 100 miles offshore
What's the size of your boat?
24ft
How much fuel can you hold?
Close to 100 gallons
108m?
A little more, it was wild thanks for watching
Four hundred feet of reeling each fish will tire you out.
No doubt about that!
