    I believe spearfishing involves more fairness and immersion in comparison to fishing. With spearfishing, you have to enter the fish's environment and outsmart the fish rather than trying to trick fish into biting a line. It’s a lot more difficult than it looks! Getting a nice grouper like that is still a successful day in my book!

    Hey been watching your videos for sometime and I think I might have seen you in the afternoon by Key Largo filling up on US1 around 4 of July as well ! Great content man, especially showing the reality of the spearfishing. Quick suggestion though if you go underwater again. Try your best to kill all spotted lionfish like the one hiding at @9:37 Those things are wiping out young fish numbers, it is absurd when you see it. Just do a quick google image search and type in "Lionfish stomach content" -you cant unsee the damages they do to our fish population. We gotta do our best to protect our waters and ecosystem. Plus they taste good too! Anyways hope to meet you one day in person! If you ever want to scuba and spearfish, Lmk! 😀👍

    Pretty good, black groupers are very elusive and very strong as well, great catch !
    PD: Everyone has different techniques while freediving/spearing but it would be a good habit of getting the snorkel off your mouth while starting to descend ( many reason to list ) I understand that the snorkel you using looks more of a Scuba oriented one than freediving but it is a good habit not to descend/spear and come up with the snorkel in the mouth.

    "Welcome to the Florida Keys Aquarium I'm your Diver, Clay and today we'll be cheating." So okay I know spearfishing looks like it's cheating, simply gulp some air, dive down to where the trophy fish are and shoot one, easy!. Not so easy, I've shot a few Lingcod and Pardo in my day from the coast of Vancouver Island to the Sea of Cortez and fishing with a rod and reel is much more relaxing and you catch more fish too, the problem is you can't target the fish you want. Spearing gives you the opportunity to be selective in what you harvest, and to me that's the pleasure I derive from Spearfishing. You guys are so fortunate to be near such an insane amount of sea life, it is truly astonishing watching some of the video you have shot over the past couple of years. You really do have some of the best underwater content I have ever seen. Yet with the passion you both have for fishing of any variety you make sure to take what you need, not to fill every place that can hold ice on that gorgeous Pathfinder 2400. God has indeed blessed us with the life on this planet, and for our lives on it. Take care - Dave

    Hi Stéphanie and Clay. This is probably not the place to ask you this, but I'm planning to come to Miami and then Key West, end of July. I was wondering if you had any tips on where to go see manatees on the way down and do some airboat.
    How many hours from Miami and/or Key West would it be !?
    If you can help me ? 🤷‍♀️
    Cheers and then love you again ! 😊

    • @LifeByTheBow
      @LifeByTheBow  Год назад

      Hey There, thanks for reaching out! Normally there's never a specific place to see manatees. They normally do their own thing. Big pine is about 30 minutes from key west and I would say about 2- 2 1/2 hours from Miami. Maybe a little less. You can always check when you arrive for exact arrival times.

      My wife drives the boat off the trailer and picks up at the dock. When loading up she drives it on to the trailer. I am in the water straddling the trailer just giving hand signals. in the direction I need her to go to line it up on the trailer. Hook it up and yank her out. Teamwork and there is no stress and a great way to end the day. Try it, just go slow.

    Hello Clay & Steph, another exciting episode for us. Nice to see how you were persistent with that huge grouper. Some years back I used to follow this guy fishing the Keys. The narration included by him was the best part of the show. Clay, your narrations are very good and on point. By now you may have figured out Flip Pallot was the Keys Fisherman I was referring to earlier. Your show has one Key Thing his did not, its because you have a Queen on board. Hint Hint!!!!!
    P.S I caught a 47lb grouper out of Destin aboard the First Light, that fish whipped my butt, but we had fillets for the freezer!!!!!
