  • Thought I would share my initial experience with Michelin’s All Weather Cross Climate 2 Tires. Drove over and through various winter conditions. I give them a 4.5 out of 5. Tires performed well in most winter conditions. Found they struggled a bit on pure Icy roads, but snow packed and even icy roads with snow on them they performed exceptionally well. I would say Ice performance is the difference maker between these and Pure Winter Tires. Thanks

      Thanks, now the roads are dry starting to notice how they drive on dry pavement. A little rough IMO. You definitely feel bumps and cracks in the road a little more than I did while I had the touring tires on. So not as smooth as a touring tire for sure. Also MPG is down almost 2-3 miles per gallon. Michelin claims this will improve with wear. But also I understand you have to sacrifice some to gain some. Works both ways

    Sir:
    This video was very helpful, period. I agree with Mr. Paradise, below. I am shopping for a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu four door sedan. Present tires are absolutely atrocious - I purchased the vehicle on Presidents Day, NH; we were surprised with a nice small snowfall and the sneakers on Mabel (aka Malibu) were atrocious. Thankfully, I avoided other late season snowfalls. (My wife has a 2018 Ford Explorer; i have the Malibu and commute across NH to work - haven't decided what I will put on the Explorer)
    I am writing from NH; your video is well representative of my cross state driving snow conditions in NH , ME, and VT. This is my life. I appreciated being able to watch the vehicle maneuver from stopped; in and out of high speed lane; in and out of exit ramp. I appreciated your characterization of "highway glaze" - perfect. I appreciated your video capture of intersection behavior. I appreciated your general characterization of this tire's performance with our driver behavior. You're absolutely correct; there might be some slipping here and there, but, when we slow down, the tires do their job. I appreciated your representation of the tires tracking well in glazed plowed conditions as well as all other snow conditions - these tires seem to permit your vehicle to track well, at all times.
    I sincerely appreciate the time you put into this and it has been helpful. These are the driving conditions that one will often experience in NH, ME, and VT. Michelin should really be compensating you - this is very good work. Thank you. ~ Pat Doherty

So I thought might as well record and share the experience. Haven’t heard from Michelin yet lol.

    I will be putting a set of these on my '17 Subaru Impreza sport before next winter. I usually have 2 sets of tires for my vehicles, one for summer and one for winter, but I'm getting tired of swapping them out twice per year and only having TPMS half the year, since my car can only 'remember' one set of sensors. I'm thrilled that Michelin has made an all weather tire that lives up to the hype. They're definitely expensive, but if they actually last 60,000 miles, it's money well spent. Solid review!

    I have been using them for over 2 1/2 years now on my 16 toyota Camry Hybrid and they are the absolute best in snow. All front wheel drive. I have had just once in my parking space due to ice slip me into the small gutter up against the sidewalk. No fault of the tires it is total wet ice underneath the snow.
    My 1st set I bought for $138 bucks and now I need a new full set for the next upcoming winter and tires stores wanted upwards of $1,100 bucks for a set as high as $250 bucks plus another almost $150 just for them to put it on.
    I did buy them this time, but from Costco! a total of $756 bucks. No addition fees whatsoever! The downside is they are slow getting the tires and putting them on. Taking almost 2 weeks! They will do repairs, but what a wait.

    I'm an essential worker in new england, and all it takes is one winter storm to make it impossible to get to work. This video helped out a lot. Engineers and customers are saying a lot of good things about the cross climate2's. Seems like the best choice for all season tires, just not quite as good as pure snow/ice tires. But you can't use winter tires all year. Treads wear out too fast in the heat, and potentially tire failure. Thanks for the review!

    Seems to be great tires from all the RUclips reviews I've seen. So I'm looking to get them put on my son's 2013 V6 Accord. We live in Central Jersey and we get our fair share of snow. Nothing like where you're at, but it's more like a Black Ice on the roadways is what we get. So these should come in handy. And with the discounts that I'm seeing at Costco's and BJ's, the price is similar to some, (all be it good) cheaper tires. You can't go wrong I guess. Great review. Give us a sense of how these tires handle in the snow. I just got the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4's put on about a week ago and have put on like 200 miles. They feel good compared to the Toyo's I had. For me it was a toss up between these an and the Pilot Sports. Decide to go with the Pilot Sports because I don't drive that much in inclement weather and they were about $$150-200 cheaper for my 2019 Mazda CX GTR. But for my son who does more driving, I would like the safest tire I could get. Once again, great review. Best of luck!

    I considered CC2 but they would be too close in role to my dedicated set of Blizzaks DMV2. I opted to get longer lasting, quieter, better dry/wet grip Defender 2 for my 9 - 10 months out of the year. I can quickly swap tires out at the first forecast of snow/ice. So if it's a warm winter I don't bother swapping out. Takes me about 1.5 hrs to get them out, air them up evenly and then swap them out for both our vehicles. Air compressor with impact makes short work of it.

      I'm on the fence about the true need for these for my 2020 Honda Passport AWD now that they've finally come out with my size. I'm in San Diego, so their use in snow would be limited to the rare times we get snow in our mountains about an hour east of town (4,000'-6,000' elevation) or when I would drive up to the Sierra Nevada (Kings Canyon / Sequoia / Yosemite / Eastern Sierra). When it does rain here in San Diego, drainage on our streets and highways sucks, and too many cars hydroplane and spin out, so rain performance would be important to know. Car does have VCM so a good part of the time it’s running on 3 cylinders. Best tire I’ve had on wet roads. I see now that you didn't make yr car completely snowfree, also yr backlights are not to be seen. and through yr backwindow you cannot see anything.

      Not sure at any point in time do have a view out my rear window, which by the way is completely snow free, any snow that might be on it is snow accumulated as I’m driving around because DUH it’s snowing outside. 3:10

    Why are you parked in an EV charging station space?

    • @raynman67

      Because it’s private property, we own the EV charging systems, Thanks for attempting to virtue signal about it. Any Questions about the Tires?

    The only thing is if it is really worth $180 a pop over getting $70 a pop all seasons and just struggling for a few months a year 😂

      I suppose, but her we get 5 1/2 to 6 months of winter, from November to May you could get snow storms

      I live In Chicago…we had 12 inches of snow overnight, and I was ‘ Plowing thru the snow like it was dry pavement, and my neighbors, we’re just spinning their tires. Best part ? You can drive all year on these tires…!

      Consider this, you cheap out on tires, saving $80 - $90, but end up crashing in the winter due to cheap tires causing thousands of dollars of damage to the vehicle just because you saved a few dollars on tire price.
      The only contact between the car and the road are the tires, I'd buy a decent set.

      Yes…Best part the Michelin cross climate 2 .. are snow rated, last 50k miles.. and because of the tire compound.. they are soft in the winter for grip, and hard in the summer, basically ‘ winter tires, you can use in the summer…These are ‘ Real ‘ All season tires… and the minimum tread depth.. still outperform the competition.

    " Found they struggled a bit on pure Icy roads," so what tires work well on purely Icey roads bud? lol

    • @raynman67
      @raynman67  Год назад

      Well blizzaks were actually pretty decent. On Pure ice. I owned multiple sets, went to the Bridgestone Winter driving School in Steamboat springs and we also had them on a frozen lake here locally. Even their not perfect but starting and stopping was considerably better than these. These are more about convenience. Blizzaks wear out to fast if not changed between summer and winter

      My reply comes a year late. On pure ice? Only chains or studded tires. Nothing else. You can wing it for sure, but ice is ice, rubber will slip no matter what.

    So why were you parked in a EV charging spot? How would you like to pull up to your local gas station and an electric car was parked in front of the fuel pump? Weather is no excuse buddy.

    • @raynman67
      @raynman67  Год назад

      Because it’s private property and we own the EV charging station, so If I want to park in the EV spot that we own than that’s my prerogative. Thanks for playing

    • @robert5008
      @robert5008 Год назад +1

      @raynman67 So how much money did your state help you pay for that set up to "Green Wash" your company then. State rebates, utility grants or federal tax credits for those chargers?

    • @raynman67
      @raynman67  Год назад

      @@robert5008 0 and beyond that I know exactly who and when whomever owns an EV needs the charging station. These are level 1 charging stations. At best they add 2-4 miles of driving per hour. If I show up to work and need gas to go 2-4 miles, first I’m a pretty irresponsible person but where is my gas pump space that I can occupy for an hour or more to get me to the gas station. Oh and they are free to use. Were are the free to use gas pumps? So what if a EV that has plenty of charge but just want the convenience of parking in the spot shows up, parks all day and EV that needs a charge is unable to use the spot because it’s being occupied by an EV that’s near fully charged. Thats the actual reality of who parks in the EV spots. So maybe you should address that problem first because I’m occupying the space because I know for a fact that no one needs the spot, and it’s been my personal parking spot for over 25 years that I graciously allowed them to install EV stations at.
