@@melviasheppard8466 Like the time my toddler niece cried when I had to go to work when usually she is not found of going to people she doesn't get to see very often. She didn't want me to leave. I gave her a hug and told her I will be back. I will be leaving for Army Basic Training in November so I can imagine how hard saying goodbye will be on me emotionally. I don't have kids yet but I am getting a feel of how it will feel like leaving the youngest loved ones behind should I ever get deployed. Emotional 😢
Congrats on going to bootcamp. If you have any questions, reach out. I was navy and have Army Sorority Sisters. My niece cried when I left, but she was so happy to see me when I graduated. I bought he a Navy teddy bear that she still has to this day and she's 24.
@@TieeshaEssex Thank you. And speaking of hair, I started the journey to going back to natural hair in 2014 after five years of having a perm that burned my scalp and nearly ate up my hair alive. I started losing my hair in the back and around my edges and my hair was getting thin. Then I came to the realization that I missed my thick full looking natural hair and yearned to have it back. So I stopped going to hair appointments and let the $45 perm grow out. Because I didn't want my hair to be cut too short, I waited till my new grow got to a certain length long enough to put in a short ponytail before finally going for The Big Chop. I was also wearing more protective cornrow styles during the natural hair journey until my hair grew and grew more. Then I found ways to manage my hair while wet after washing it such as parting it into sections with my fingers instead of a comb and applying conditioner to my hair the same way I'd apply grease to hair: with my fingers and apply more conditioner all the way down to my ends. Then after that, it's Detangling Time. I use a wide tooth comb and start from the ends and work my way up to the roots. Then I twist the sections up after combing out the tangles. I put a plastic bag on my conditioned hair and sit under the dryer for 30 minutes. And lastly, I rinse out all the conditioner with my hair still twisted up to prevent retangling my hair back up again during the rinse. My blow dryer has a comb attached so I comb as I go as I dry my hair. What was your job in the Navy? Any hair care tips/suggestions for black hair in boot camp?

Thanks for the inspiration, I just experienced a hair chopping and am having a difficult time with the transition. and finding ways to embrace "ME"! It's been a month of tears, but after watching you I truly see the beauty in being natural! You are gorgeous
I was beginning to feel like I was the only black woman who didn’t feel confident and completely comfortable in public with my bald head. I got so comfortable with the representative I created I began to think those images were me. I’ve finally let go of who I used to be and finally loving the real me. Thank you so much for your honesty.
Our babies were the closest to our hearts than anyone else could possibly be. I like to think my son came into this world holding a piece of my heart. I love him so much!
I did the Big chop a year ago and received nothing but compliments. Especially from men. I've never been ashamed to rock my Bald head because it makes me feel just as empowered as I did when I had hair. I have soooo many wigs, probably too many to count😁😁🤣🤣🤣. I even went as far as going Platinum Blonde for the summer and loved it. It's all about being comfortable in the skin you're in. You are Beautiful Hun,Embrace You!!!
Congrats. My only note of warning(coming up on 10 months in March of growing my hair back after shaving to bald), is definitely be careful and very mindful about which natural hair products you choose to use for your hair. I regrettably learned the hard way, that my hair is no fan of aloe vera. It really thinned it out in spots. Also, I advise learning how to trim your own hair or going to people you really trust. I just went to get my ends and sides tapered down a little bit, last Friday. And dude, took my one full and finally out of the awkward stage growth, down to looking like I had only been growing my hair out for 3 freaking months! I'm sooooo pissed as I had for the most part been trying to grow my hair out WITHOUT using ANY hair pills and so forth(until like a little over a month ago). And it was coming in awesomely. Slow, but awesome. Now I have to go through the awkward phase all over again because he took WAAAAY too much off. Saying it will help it grow better. My ass. :( But yea, definitely be careful of stuff like that.
I damaged my hair with a life time of dying it and shaved it off because I was sick of dealing with it. What surprised me is how good it made me feel. It was also liberating as a woman to just not be preoccupied with my looks . It's growing out, I take care of my hair now and totally gray but it's ok. Good video, signed old white lady
I dye my hair because the gray hair isn't all over yet. Thinking about going to a salon and have it colored platinum gray. I'm still going to keep my short afro.

I've been wanting to shave all of my hair off due to my hair coming out in two places. I was told I had alopecia areta, but that has not been confirmed. So sorry for the long story. I love your hair!!! #feeling inspired.
Thank you Tieesha Your video was so cute. I shaved my hair off a week ago and wore a bandanna to work for the first two days worried about what people will say about me then one day I was working and my bandanna fell off and one of the staff was like OMG! you look good with a bald head it's perfectly shaped stop wearing those stupid bandannas lol. So from that day forth I stop wearing them where ever I go not caring who says what. I wear earrings to show those that I'm a woman.

I used to live in Arizona and I learned that moisture and sun are excellent for our natural hair. My hair grew fast out there. I moved to Wisconsin a good 7 years ago and struggled to take care of my hair. I recently went through a phase where my hair started breaking off so bad that it left bald patches. Very traumatic. This happened a good 6 months ago. For four months I literally watched it just die. The patches we're so bad I felt horrible. Finally I went the hospital. The doctor asked me if I was stressed. Had a break up or anything. I said no. My hair was just falling out. He stated that my scalp was fine. No scars or nothing that showed up to explain why my hair was falling out. I left confused but I went home that day and decided two things. The first was I was going to go back to olive oil and work with that. Second I was going to use the creme of nature shampoo and conditioner more often. Especially the conditioner because I had learned that in winter's like these in Wisconsin deep conditioning is a must. In Arizona I had never needed it. I also decided to cut my hair low because of the bald spots. My hair has been receiving the conditioning and olive oil for a month and slowly but surely my hair is starting to grow back in. I had so man patches of bald spots it was ridiculous. I hate that it happened but I came out stronger for it and I am learning way more about natural hair than I had in Arizona. I I know more about my hair and it's follicles and how it respond to different things such as cold and hot. I discovered that my hair parosity is low so I need conditioning heat and warm water when washing my hair vs cold because cold causes my hair to shrivel up. It also causes difficulty with penetrating the hair shaft and my follicles. I also discovered that oil and water is what I really need next to a deep conditioner because my hair thrive off of it. I also learned in cold weather if you don't wear extensions keep it tied up using a silk scarf or a bonnet. When you are at work or home or in a building of some sort for a long period of time let your scalp breathe. I can't wait to see my hair a year from now. Also the conditioner I use on my hair twice a week, being sure to rinse it out and then I shampoo weekly. I have seen a few things happen to my hair. 1. It's stopped breaking off. 2. The little bit I do have is healthier and 3 new growth is happening. The bald spots are filling in, especially the big one.
Everything you said is the TRUTH! Exercising and getting outside like you said helps. I'm so happy it's spring and I'm looking forward to summer so I can rock my afro! Stay lovely and continue updating us!
I am all for this video & I love your personality! It's so good to know that I am not the only one who will wear a wig out in public while going through the hair growth progress. This was very reassuring for me as I am going through this as well❤
Congratulations Beautiful on your journey of natural hair and self love! Thank gui for your lovely comment! Yes I wore wigs in public because I had to accept myself in private. It's a process. Once my confidence strengthened, I'd get up, see my reflection, smile at myself. Weeks later I was driving to the atm no wig, then just out and about. But is all on your timing. Stay gorgeous and check out the other videos in this playlist for inspirations. Keep in touch!
Thank you for watching and sharing your journey. My journey was to share this intimate moment in private with loved ones before the public. I had to fully accept myself first before revealing to the world. It made me stronger which helped me reach this 2 year mark with zero regrets💜
Yesssss, that's exactly how i felt when i did the big chop and o literally use the word I FEEL FREE. I thought that what she said in the beginning of the video but she didn't. I rewind it 3x to make sure I was hearing correct but she didn't say it.
Tieesha Essex congratulations and thank you for being so transparent. I’ve done the big chop twice but I was so afraid the first time, so I did the whole fake it til you make it. I really didn’t have any confidence without my hair. I felt exposed. Eventually I began to feel free. So I did it again and it’s a completely different journey this time. Again, thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for watching. Although I may not have said FREE I definitely enjoyed detachment from superficial things I thought i needed to feel beautiful. When I wore my TWA and fell in love with what I saw in the mirror, that is when freedom hit. Wish I lived in an area where I saw more faces that looked like me, maybe my reveal to the public would've been sooner, but in my neck of the woods anytime I change my hair I have to prepare for crazy reactions. Thank you again for watching and check out my 2 year update. Continue sharing your progress with me beautiful sisters 💜
Your eyes spoke to my soul and your smile is absolutely gorgeous. Whatever you had gone through I commend you and your transformation and through all you were so graceful. Thank you so much and you rocked every style. You definitely inspired me
Hello. I don't know what you were going through at the time. I hope that your liberation was a bounty of rewards to all of "YOU". The day I had to cut my wife hair off we both cried together and it brought me to a bit closer to her. And god knows a better person. After her hair grew back, I allowed mine to grow back as we often felt the unity of 2. Today I wear a bald head to remind me of our own fragility an how not to take these around you for granite. Yes it's a peaceful love and dedication to Serenity.....! Thanks for sharing your video.
Congratulations on the start of a lovely journey! You save so much money not trying to save damaged hair. Your hair will grow back so healthy and full. Please share your updates a

I love you new best friend! Thank you so much for your kind words. I too was a slave to weaves & wigs and would REFUSE to leave the house without either one. Now since beginning this journey for the right reasons, I leave the house without makeup, and haven't worn a wig or weave in over a year. Wishing you all things great on your journey.

Good for you sis ❤ I shave my hair every year ..I start a natural journey and when it gets long I relax it and it breaks off then the process begins again 😭 😂
Wow, this was soooo touching because I shaved my hair when we first had to stay in! Your hair grew sooo fast! Beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing all your secrets. Tell your mom she did an excellent job in rearing you!
I just stumbled upon your video while looking up vids. I just wanted to tell you to stay encouraged. It's great to have a support team. I think you're son was the best support team you could ever ask for all by himself. What a sweet child. I also shaved my head some years back...wanna say like 2014 or 15ish. I don't remember. I try not to think about it. lol. Yeah, I was all Private Ryan. I didn't care, hair grows back...usually. Some sample product I got from a beauty supply store burned the hell outta my scalp at my crown & broke my hair there. My scalp was actually red & my hair was not dyed. So, I shaved it. I figured it was the best way to treat my heal/treat my scalp, my hair & it was best for me. My hair was fairly long when I did it but oh well. I wore quick weaves usually but kept my hair moisturized...I babied it really. When it got to the point yours was in 2017, mine was mad curly/wavy all over which was only at my roots prior to the shave. My hair now as of Feb. 2020 is a little passed my shoulder but healthier than it has ever been. I used no heat & no perms the entire time which was the point. My hair needed a fresh start. When I started getting a lot of compliments on my real hair, it gave me the reassurance I needed that I made a good decision & so did you. (I know I wrote a lot but we sistas need to do better at keeping each other uplifted in general...So, it was worth me taking the time to keep you encouraged & other women that also shaved their hair. One luv)
Congratulations! I'm so proud of you! I still remember my first day no wig or hat and I fell in love with my face! I have a video on here with my 3rd or so time out no wig. I want to know how was this day for you? ruclips.net/p/PLBoloxIo0vLppxfyQ1DZ0MtENRF8djCV3
Oh that's the first hair video I looked at months ago . Now I am looking and learning more about my hair as I started my hair journey early this year ....
Can I just say, how awesome it is to meet another person that shaved their head as well? I did mine last May. Was just over the cost and damage of the relaxers. I initially tried transitioning as I work in retail and more times than not have to wear a hair net. But yea, once I came up on that line of demarcation in the wrong way and accidentally yanked out some hair when styling....yea, it was time for me to shave things. No wigs for me though, just a work cap I had while working in the deli. But totally wished I could have pulled off wigs. Just I feel like any time I put one on, it totally stands out as not belonging to me or something. But yea truly congrats on your hair journey as well. Natural hair is one heck of an amazing ride. :)
Congratulations and thank you for your compliments! Your story is so similar to mine and I LOVE IT! Wigs worked well for me early on but now I can't stand them! It feels like spiders crawling all over me lol. I bought a wig that was cute on another youtuber, it's hideous on me! I welcome your tips and feedback as we're go through our healthy hair journey together!
Oh any time at all. I'll be the first to admit, I'm still in one heck of a learning curve as well in regards to my hair. And honestly seeing your 1 year growth there at the end, it semi made me sad a little. Because I was nearly there, and then I foolishly went to get my "ends trimmed" last Friday from a local hair cutting place(Great Clips, as I had a good experience last time I went to one in a more metro area). And yea, I lost 6 months of growth in 1 day, (Was my face for a few days afterward and couldn't even verbalize what happened for a little while)> (- _ -)). The the lord for hair accessories(in particular this flexible/adjustable blue hair wrap ribbon thingie I bought a while ago from wal-mart. Couldn't use it when my hair was a bit longer as I was more into bigger, fuller curls. But now since I'm more afro/stray coils going on these days. It works better now). So yea, my biggest tip, if you haven't learned already. Please, PLEASE, learn how to trim your own ends or allow only someone you absolutely trust to do so(I'm working on that now). Also, it's very key to pay attention to how particular products work with your hair. As I was all about the essential oils and massages on my scalp at first and that worked great. But then I got curious how aloe vera would work and castor oil. Even shea. And yea, found out the first 2 totally thin and frizz out my hair. And Shea totally sucks the life out of it(as does Olive oil). So in a word, not all natural ingredients/products, are meant for everybody. I was curious though, and I probably missed it in your video. But was wondering how do you handle hair shedding? So far I've been trying this black tea rinse I found. And it's still kind of new yet. But I'm optimistic. I also look forward to learning more from you as well. As your hair looks sort of similar to mine. Which, really makes me happy, cause out of countless YT vids, I've seen over the months. I haven't really seen someone with close to the same type. So I'll definitely have more questions too. Be great learning from someone else too in the journey.
Ok, I NEED TO SUBSCRIBE TO YOUR CHANNEL! You are so knowledgeable and I'm learning so much. My hair sheds when it's in braids or if it's dry and brittle. Look for my wash day video and my most recent video on Extreme Hair growth yogurt. Those items have drastically reduced my shedding. As a male who suffers from male pattern baldness, I spent years trying to make my thinning hair look like the hair I no longer had. Even tried propecia and rogaine. Then said to hell with it and shaved my head. Stopped pretending and went with who I am. It worked.. Turns out, I look like a bit of a badass with a shaved head. (Instead of friar Tuck with the fringe hair). I like that you embraced who you are and don't bow to standards set by society. Also, the fact that you are a gun person is just so cool. And badass as well. Rock on!!
Your hair growth makes me want to cry. Finding out that I shaved my hair off in vain and realizing I have trich and alopecia..it makes my 3 year journey discouraging because I cant grow my hair in the middle. I love how yours has grown. Just wish I knew how to grow my hair with out the weave and using the right products. I'm already dealing with split ends & hair falling out from the roots. -sigh-

Thank you for this video ☺️ I’ve just shaved my hair and I am soo ready for the healthy growth.
Congratulations Beautiful on your journey!! You are going to fall in love with your hair! Please share tips and let's Grow Together! 💜
My ass. :(
But yea, definitely be careful of stuff like that.
Me too but at times i be nervous

Everytime I doubt my big chop I come back and watch this video...,thanks for sharing
Ugh I love your son, he is so supportive!
One of my pet peeves..rude people asking rude questions .
YES! Im thinking of making a part 2 to this video
People are very rude, usually the ones that get their feelings hurt when you just look at them wrong
I died at the part when you said someone asked you was it a wig. And crossroads is my song.
Wow,i didn’t expect a hair video to make me emotional, your son is so sweet!
Awww! I have the most amazing son! He's all of a sudden camera shy, but I'll get him into more videos.
Your voice over was so funny but very good. I love your personality!
Thank you for your lovely compliment!
That sounds like me right now! Im letting my white hair grow out im only 33
@@clarivelgomez1706 it's nice to hear that you are so young and proud of yourself. I have dye my hair for as long as you been born. I have a full head of hair that won't grow past my ears. Because of ALL OF THE CHEMICALS.

Don't do that! Marriage before baby carriage!
Great advice. To add to your comment - do not pursue a feel good degree or rack up a bunch of student loan debt.

I've been binge watching women cutting bald videos bc I literally just cut mine BALD April 29th and I'm curious to see how this healthy thick 4c hair grows back. I know I'm in for a journey trying to manage 4c natural hair but I'm going to do my very best
Congratulations! Thank you so much for watching! Wishing you the very best on your journey. I'll record a video soon on which hair products I now use. Please read the ingredients in everything you buy because most of it keeps you bald. Use the Yuka app.

I've been wanting to shave all of my hair off due to my hair coming out in two places. I was told I had alopecia areta, but that has not been confirmed. So sorry for the long story. I love your hair!!! #feeling inspired.
What are you using for the hair something curly couldn't hear you
Thank you Tieesha Your video was so cute.
Love it 😍 I just cut all of my hair off like 30 minutes ago 🥴 I’m excited 💗

Brandy Mun Keep up with the hair maintenance. You are in control😁
Very nice video. I’m thinking about just shaving all of my hair off so thank you for sharing!
Thank you for sharing this video. I've been wanting to shave all of my hair off to start fresh but was too afraid until I saw your video.
Your son is the sweetest omg🥺❤️❤️
Thank you. I love him!
Sis you missed out on the whole feeling FREE part of the Big chop, I could not hide my big chop because I felt free confidence and happy 😊
Thanks for sharing your story...I’m shaving mines tomorrow,my hair is damaged

One luv)

I'm going to do a review on this product i'm using that has internally reduced my shedding

I think you rocked the shaved head it was so beautiful ✨
Thank you
I chop my hair off alot. So cutting has never been a big deal.
I just did the big chop, the reason why I shaved my head is because I want my hair to grow back even. I like this video, you have amazing progress.
As a male who suffers from male pattern baldness, I spent years trying to make my thinning hair look like the hair I
no longer had.
-sigh-

There is a tool that you can try...It's a micro needling tool for the effected areas of your scalp. The Idea is to make, ever so small, (micro) punctures in your scalp to give your growth oils a better chance to work effectively. You can find the tool, and get more info, at "Pump Hair". All the best to you!😉

sometimes I wish I could have the guts to do something so beautiful like this. my hair is breaking off a lot especially the back. I am trying to transition from relaxed to natural hair. I don't want anymore. I want healthy growing hair. you look so beautiful. congrats and your son is so handsome!!y'all are awesome!
Thank you for your beautiful comment. I was transitioning, but I got sick and tired of being sick and tired. I was wasting time and money trying to save damaged hair. That'd when I realized IT'S JUST HAIR. We shed strands daily, peel off nails just to have it grow back with little effort from me.
You will be beautiful regardless, but do what your inner Goddess calls you to do💜
