  • When the spaces between the bones of a baby's skull, called sutures, close too early, it may affect the skull's shape. This is called Craniosynostosis. When the midline, or sagittal suture closes, it may result in an elongated head-shape. At Children's Hospital Colorado, we can offer several surgical options to correct this condition, including our minimally-invasive approach.

Do they put pins in your head? I had this done and I have two pins in my forehead. It’s been 30 yrs and I have no idea what type of material they used in the 80s and I have to get a ct scan and I’m not even sure if I can get one.. ugh wish I could get medical records from 30 yrs ago

I’m 42 and I have a scare from front to back of my head for sagital suture when I was a baby. My mom told me this had to be done because the soft spot wasn’t healing properly. People always ask about my scar because I’m bald. Is your visible? I’m pretty sure I’ve had ct scan.

If a newborn does not have a soft spot on his head, is it a sign of craniosynostosis ?

I had "still have"it and there is no affect other than a weird shaped head. If it is not treated alot of mental issues can occur. Your brain will be squished and grow in a weird shape causing parts of the brain not to get the proper growth.

The first surgery for this very specific surgery? Mine was performed in 1991, I can promise you I wasn't the first. in fact, www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17471133 says the first one was performed in 1890.

I had this surgery in 88, I was about 8 months old. I have a scar from ear to ear. My head did develop but I gotta grow my hair out as its kinda embarrassing the scar. However it is nice that the surgery allowed me to live a still functional life.

If you're having headaches, you should see a craniofacial surgeon.

My son is having his surgery on the 25th of this month. He's 1 and I'm so scared but he needs it. You can't tell his head is deformed by looking at him but you can tell by looking at him through a mirror.
