    Zeb I love that you covered the dishes in the sink like your mom did when she had guests! And yes she should be proud of you for all the great things you can do! I am sure she is....

    Great prep info! Lots of these "cheap" pieces are available for free in my area. So many damaged things that, once touched up, LOOK GREAT!!

    This was perfect for me! I am in the process of up-cycling a credenza that's about this size and also the navy color! I wish I would have used a black primer instead as well. Really impressed with the dresser! I think the trim is exactly what it needed!!

    I like what u have done to the piece. I am curious what u would do with charcoal or black paint...like lil black dress on a large piece of furniture...like how would u distress...wax accent...and hardware..id love to see u do somthing like this...

    Beautiful! I'm wondering how you prevent dust from the sanding getting everywhere? I have the same exact sander with the catch bag and i have to sand in a part of my garage that I cordoned off with ceiling to floor drop clothes. Otherwise everything in my garage gets covered in sanding dust. And there you are, sanding right inside your lovely shop!

    • @JamiRayVintage
      @JamiRayVintage  6 лет назад +1

      It gets dust places sometimes. Sometimes I hook a vacuum up to it if I have to do a lot of sanding inside. Also, Diablo abrasives makes a sand net that catches a ton of dust. They sell them at Home Depot. 👍

    I really enjoy and have learned so much from your videos! Where do you get all the different knobs and pulls for your pieces? Thanks for sharing!

    • @JamiRayVintage
      @JamiRayVintage  6 лет назад +1

      I keep all the knobs from all the pieces I work on in case they may work better on another piece, I also get knobs at hobby lobby when they are on sale for 50% off and Lowe’s and Home Depot.

    Love the colour, I would've gone for some metal handles in copper or dark chrome, as the light ones stand out a lot for my taste, but the blue with white distressing looks so nice! Just about to check out some of your other videos now, thanks for the tips!

    a guy at the hardware store told me spackle like the one you used isn't good because it could dry and chip like a plaster wall after being dry. has that ever happen to you? I have a wooden side table that I want to fix and sell as well

    • @JamiRayVintage
      @JamiRayVintage  7 лет назад

      Jessabella Baez I only use it on small stuff. You might also try plastic wood by Dap. It's awesome, doesn't shrink and is stainable

    Any reason you didn't spray the Navy blue dresser ?? How do you make the decision on whether to paint or spray the piece of furniture ??

    • @JamiRayVintage
      @JamiRayVintage  7 лет назад +1

      Ursula Wells It just depends on the look I am going for. Sometimes I want it to look hand painted.

  • @kenedeighbara2188

    Can I ask why you didn't use wood filler instead?

    • @JamiRayVintage
      @JamiRayVintage  7 лет назад +3

      Kenedeigh Goins because this dries faster and it's less expensive so when we are painting we use this fuller and when we are staining we use stainable filler

    • @JamiRayVintage

      We used our air compressed nail gun from Harbor freight. It runs about $25-$30 and needs an air compressor.

    Question: if you needed to cut the top sides of that dresser off about 3/4" what would you use, without taking it apart?

  • @shaylynnmullins

    I love it! When you use the poly with a brush, do you get tiny little bubbles? I always do and when I try to sand them it makes the bubbles white and show up worse. Do you have any tips?

    • @JamiRayVintage
      @JamiRayVintage  7 лет назад

      In the past I have added just a little water and that has made it go on without bubbles. But usually I don't have problems with that

  • @jenniferhargrove5280

    Just curious...why primer on this piece? Is it cuz it was really shiny?

    • @JamiRayVintage
      @JamiRayVintage  6 лет назад +1

      Because I wanted the white to show through and primer is cheap.

    In my opinion I feel that the quality of work is a little too sloppy. Paint all over the place. Especially if your selling your furniture.The distress look nice although don’t like the handles.

    It pains me to see those unique handles go :( they were such a staple to the original version of the dresser.

    • @JamiRayVintage
      @JamiRayVintage  7 лет назад +5

      Sunnie Windham i keep original hardware as often as possible. But since someone removed all the original decorative detail they just didn't make sense with the straight lines. But don't worry I save all my hardware so it can live on in another project :)

    • @plotus5885
      @plotus5885 6 лет назад +1

      Sunnie Windham - Urban/City areas would probably have liked it with the original hardware I agree. But for where they live in Utah, people there are loving the farmhouse look. We all have to consider where we live geographically and what people in those areas are willing to buy before picking how we will finish a piece. I love what Jami Ray Vintage does. Her & Jeb are a wealth of information for newbies, teaching us how to work with wood & tools, how to do repairs, how to sand, prime, paint & distress and even how to build an entire business from scratch. Love Jami Ray Vintage ♥️ (No other channel like it)
