Thank you, thank you for the most helpful, thorough and thoughtful fix video I’ve ever seen! As another person said, our drier was headed for the scrap heap until we saw this.
Perfect!! Thank you for your excellent video. I assume this was a 'design feature' meant to help the company sell more units since they made it so difficult to get too, instead of just putting in a side access door for cleanout
Thank you for your comment. I got some reply from newer product owner, which sounds like more complicated with additional sensors. We just want simple one that doesn't stop.
Also annoys me that the whole thing is full of water when i pull out the heat exchange. It goes all over the floor every time and under the unit. Have to put a towel down each time. Annoying design
Fantastic. My dryer has been done this for a year or so and pulling my hair out trying to fathom this out. I didn’t even know the sump existed and it took 5 mins to clean and the dryer back to normal use - thanks Ken! Brilliant.
Thanks Ken. This sorted out my problem. I have had this problem for a long time and could not solve it (slightly different model but it works exactly the same). Your video was the solution and it works fine now. I used the short-cut method of cleaning it from the heat exchange duct at the bottom left. There was quite a lot of fluff and water in there. After I cleaned it out, it is working fine. I would suggest that anyone trying it should first try to do it through the short-cut method instead of disassembling everything. I think that in 90%+ of the cases that should do the trick. Thanks again from South Africa
Brilliant!!! Thanks for solving our issue, saved us a fortune! I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it, but I cleaned the sensors inside the machine, just under the door lip, with white vinegar. It supposedly removes limescale build up, one word of caution don't use rubbing alcohol for this, use only household white vinegar. Thanks again Ken, you sir are a genius. 👏
That sensor must be for checking humidity inside the driver. If there are too much humidity inside the drum and the machine stops, which happens to mine, especially at the beginning of drying cycle. Normally only once of a drying cycle I have to let humidity out, then ok. I try your method for cleaning it. Thanks for your time to have commented. Nice year!
Brilliant work mate! Gave me the confidence to disassemble my similar Bosch dryer and perform the same repair. Thanks for going to the effort of making this video!

Fantastic, concise, video showing how to resolve this, thank you. I have a Bosch 300 series that began giving me the drain error after 10 minutes or so. With this video I was able to open up my dryer, vaccume out all the sludge in the bottom and button it back up in under an hour. One thing I’d recommend if you really get down with a flashlight and look inside, past the sump on the back side of the dryer there was considerable sludge built up there as well. I vacuumed all that up and wiped it down as well, good as new
Thank you for the comment and the area I might have missed. Mine still stops when putting a lots of stuff. Maybe connected to some the other area condition. Thank you.
Oh no, I'm thinking of buying a model similar to this. It has a sump pump fit as well but they don't include a cover for this model, so it's an open pit that we don't have to open the lid in order to clean. I'm still reluctant on getting it but after watching your video I think I can manage the maintenance now. Please keep us updated any other issues. Thank you!
A big THANK YOU, I watched your video as we were having exactly the same problem, & tried the easy fix by taking off the clip plate and cleaning in there. It has worked! If I have the problem again then I will take the side off but I wanted to try the easier way first. Your a legend, thank you for taking the time and posting the video as I didn’t know about the pump under the machine 😊
Take off the clip plate and clean out the sump, then pour clean water into the sump and splash it around the level sensor. Run the dryer to drain this water out and repeat two more times. I predict you won't need to do this again for a year, at least.

Thanks for the video! It saved me a lot of time. This was happening to me as well with my Bosch ductless dryer which was turning off with the clothes still wet. While cleaning the dryer I found an additional sensor underneath the lint on the left side as you look down into the filter housing cavity. The sensor was completely covered in lint. Once I cleaned this sensor the dryer was restored to its normal operation.
I wonder that sensor is as well as a humidity sensor that is located inside a drum. Anyway good thing you sorted your dryer. Thank you for the comment.
I liked the video and think I can add....to solve the humidity problem I took one of the sensor legs on the pump and shaved about 1/2 inch off with a Dremel. Now the dryer works amazing! Had already cleaned the dryer and tried everything else. I think they made the sensor legs to long so they think the reservoir is getting full. It does run a little fuller than before. But it drys clothes GREAT!

I once had my side panel off due to it flagging condenser, and starting a cycle but you've helped me to solve the problem at 1am when kids school uniform needed drying and I was at my wits end cause had been trying to fix it all day 👌🏻

Hi Ken, great tip, i got this dryer and it had the 5min fault, id have checked the normal places but using google your video popped up, a lot of effort to get to the pump, compared to an indesit, anyway good instructions and it was the fluff on the sensor, dryer now working fine
I have had this dryer for fives years and it has been nothing but trouble. So, I will give this link on how to fix it to the person I hand it over to. I've ordered an American dryer, which I hope will be delivered on Friday.
Thanks instructions for where all the screws is was very clear. Was able to dismantle the side clean and put it all back together in under 20 min. Was not sure from the video (maybe I missed that bit) if your screws was also the same as my model where they use torx screws and are 2 sizes T15 and T20. Again thanks a million, this can save and has saved probably thousands of people having to pay for a easy repair/clean
Thank you so much for this video , i think you saved my dryer ! I really like that is easy to follow . So much dirt and water at the sump ,i was shocked .
Thankyou . Most helpful. My Bosch is self cleaning and has no front access, nor from the side, BUT you can remove a simple plastic panel at the rear and access the pump and the reservoir easily in moments. My pump was siezed and just required oiling.
Thank you Thank you Thank you! Your clearly explained and detailed video is perfect. Took the side panel off as recommended, removed pump etc and boy, what a mess, fluffy sludgy water. All cleared, cleaned and up to speed. Cheers bud. 👌🏻👊🏻👍🏻
Thanks! My Siemens dryer is about 15 years old and has a 'self cleaning condenser', so getting in from the front isn't easy. Will try that side panel access soon. Very annoying how it's designed like that to fail over time.
Thank you for making this!! I'm having this exact issue... It's crazy to me that bosch doesn't have an exploded view of this area of the dryer in the manual. Now to find the courage to take my dryer apart...
Fantastic! Fixed it right away. Great video. Maybe my dryer is different but I had Torx 20 aswell as 15. Just a heads up, would suck to round of any bolts.
Ken, just wanted to say thank you greatly for the video. My 300 series dryer had been performing beautifully for years and suddenly started throwing the DR error code out of nowhere. I knew there must have been build up somewhere, but the heat exchanger I cleaned multiple times and same with the vent hose (and repositioning that many many times). I was getting tired of trying to figure out what was wrong. Your video was awesome and definitely clued me into the sump area. WOW was it full of lint and water! Hopefully things are smooth sailing from here on out!
I just repaired my dryer with the same issues. How frequently do you recommend cleaning the Heat exchanger/sump area to keep the sump pump from clogging? Your video is extremely helpful, congratulations on a great achievement
Thanks buddy . Pump now cleared . I took it a step further and also disconnected the pump and cleared the impeller. This video definitely helped alot 👍. Liked and subbed

Hi Ken, great tip, i got this dryer and it had the 5min fault, id have checked the normal places but using google your video popped up, a lot of effort to get to the pump, compared to an indesit, anyway good instructions and it was the fluff on the sensor, dryer now working fine
Glad to hear the success story, very well done!
Thank you Mr Suzuki for your great video explaining how to fix this annoying alarm.
Thanks for your comment, hope your dryer can last.
Another thankful viewer checking in. Your video was exactly what I needed to see to fix the same problem! *high five*
Thank u for the comment!
very clear! and thank you for showing the dirt too. it was just the same here! muddy sump . it works very well now.
Hope yours got back to good condition! Thank you for the comment!
Ken many thanks for your excellent video & advice. I fixed by drying by using the front door method. 👏👏👏
Sounds good, thank you for the comment!
Thank you so much for the tutorial. Sump was full of sludge just like your video. Saved me £££s.
Yes, thank you for the comment, and I'm glad to hear that I saved another!
I have had this dryer for fives years and it has been nothing but trouble. So, I will give this link on how to fix it to the person I hand it over to. I've ordered an American dryer, which I hope will be delivered on Friday.
I see. Interesting. Mine still stops at a beginning of the cycle. Not sure exactly why. Hope your new dryer gives comfortable run.
Thank you very much for the precise comment. Sorry I don't exactly remember the screw size but I thought mine was only T15.
Thank you so much for this video , i think you saved my dryer ! I really like that is easy to follow . So much dirt and water at the sump ,i was shocked .
Great to hear your dryer has come back to good condition!
We feel so fortunate to have discovered your video - thanks so much for the detail!
Thank you for the compliment. Appreciated.
Yeah man thanks. This saved me 150+ € for repairs. Didn't know about the slump buildup behind that cover.
Thanks for the comment. Glad to hear good news!
Thankyou . Most helpful. My Bosch is self cleaning and has no front access, nor from the side, BUT you can remove a simple plastic panel at the rear and access the pump and the reservoir easily in moments. My pump was siezed and just required oiling.
Ohh! That's what manufacturing has to do. They improved it. Good to hear, thanks.
Excellent video, very well explained. I did everything you did and managed to get my dryer working again! Thank you so much!
Thanks for the comment! Nice to hear good news!
Thank you Thank you Thank you! Your clearly explained and detailed video is perfect. Took the side panel off as recommended, removed pump etc and boy, what a mess, fluffy sludgy water. All cleared, cleaned and up to speed. Cheers bud. 👌🏻👊🏻👍🏻
Thank you for the comment. Nice to hear the good news and it worked!
Thanks! My Siemens dryer is about 15 years old and has a 'self cleaning condenser', so getting in from the front isn't easy. Will try that side panel access soon. Very annoying how it's designed like that to fail over time.
Yours lasting very long and very good. Self cleaning condenser sounds sophisticated. Good luck of your access to the sump and clean!
Thank you so much for this!!! It worked for us, did not even have to open the dryer from the side. All the best!
Thanks for letting me know it worked. I am happy as well.
Good job, and thank you for all your hard work in helping us all. It is greatly appreciated my friend.
Oh, thank you for comment, still going!!
Thank you for making this!! I'm having this exact issue... It's crazy to me that bosch doesn't have an exploded view of this area of the dryer in the manual. Now to find the courage to take my dryer apart...
Or try to do option 1 first whether it can improve. Good luck and thanks for the comment!
This is awesome! Fixed our dryer! No more beeeeeeeps!!!!!
Thanks for your comment. Glad the condition has got better!
Spot on … exactly the same issue as you had … wife not so sure I should do it but your video makes it so much easier. Well done 👍
Good luck and I think you can do. Thank you for the comment!
Thanks. Used the first simpler method. Quite easy to do. Tumble working again
Nice to hear the good news! Thank you for your comment.
Beautiful service care done to your drain pump sump. Video 2 was the Key fix.
@@magikdale Thank you, my dryer is still surviving although not perfect.
I think that this could be the issue with mine. I will have a look in the morning. Thanks for the advice and instructions.
Thanks Paul for your comment. You are the first person to give me a comment! Hope it works.
Fantastic! Fixed it right away. Great video. Maybe my dryer is different but I had Torx 20 aswell as 15. Just a heads up, would suck to round of any bolts.
Thanks for the comments, I guess all the tumble dryers' structure concepts are similar. This video can still work.
Amazing explanation video, mine had same issue, just cleaned the sump wow so much lint! Thank you!!
@@troy7027 Thank you very much for the comment and glad to hear the good news!
Great comment, thank you, yes hopefully yours is back what it was!
I just repaired my dryer with the same issues. How frequently do you recommend cleaning the Heat exchanger/sump area to keep the sump pump from clogging?
Your video is extremely helpful, congratulations on a great achievement
Thank you for the comment and for the email sent, yes I'd like to see the additional filter you are planning to do. Interesting idea.
Ah was just about to buy a new one based on some bad advice after mine started doing this too! You just saved me $1000!!
Somebody commented that the new type comes with an access panel for the sump and pump.
Cheers Ken I have an older model but with same pump/sump set up and your fix worked a treat,. Appreciated
Thanks for your experience comment, nice one!
A big thanks you helped me fix the dryer and saved my Marriage😊😊
Oh, that's a big thing! Thanks for your comment and best wishes!
A big thank you! Great video - second time here from about 1-2 years ago! Forgot how to remove the cover!
Thanks buddy 😊
Nice to know that the video can still help someone. Thank you for inputting your comment!
Excellent fix..thank you..the entrance from the front worked for me with a small mirror to clean the gunge out of the sump. works a treat now.
Thanks for the comment. Nice to hear good news.
Thank you for you taking time to do this video, it was massive help, and saved my household £200 to get someone to clean it out for me 👍🏾
That's a lot of saving, glad it helped!
This resolved the same issue with our Bosch serie 4 dryer. Cracking work and thank you Ken!
Thanks for the nicest comment, glad to hear a good news!
Thanks friend! Worked perfectly! Thought we were gonna have to fork out for a new “second hand” one! Phew!😅😊🎉
Thanks for the good news! You are welcome!
I have the same annoying problem . Thanks for explaining and demonstrating so well.
Thanks for the comment. Hope it works. Mine still stops although not every five minutes. I have to find why.
Thank you so much ! I repaired my tumbled dryer myself !
That's a grand job! Thanks for the comment.
We had the same problem. Fixed by using the ‘down/wear’ cycle!! Even though it says 3 hours, you can stop it after 90 mins or so and it’s dry!
Sounds like a happy news, thanks for the comment!
This is exactly the video I was looking for. Thank you very much!
Thank you for the comment. Hope yours has recovered!
@@kensuzuki9319 Hopefully. It's under test run and we'll see.
Thanks buddy . Pump now cleared . I took it a step further and also disconnected the pump and cleared the impeller. This video definitely helped alot 👍. Liked and subbed
Yes, that's I forgot to mention in this video. Thanks for the comment!
THX ! This sorted out the painful process or 5 minutes restart...
Glad to hear good news! Thank you for the comment.
Very informative video thank you. Mine is erratic & just started to do that. It’s running again will try your easy fix first. Thumbs up 👍
Thanks for the comment, hope it makes it better.
@@kensuzuki9319 Perfect, also found the door latch loose which confused the issue so tightened that too. We are good to go Houston!
Thank you very much, was a big help for fixing the same problem with my Siemens Dryer!
Glad to hear your dryer is back to good condition. You re welcome!
