Can't thank you enough for posting this video (especially the part about finding and cleaning the sump pump area). I was still getting a "DR" message on the display board even after cleaning the two pull-out sections. Once I thoroughly cleaned the sump pump area, light is gone and all is well! You saved me a service call for sure! I'll pay it forward! You Rock Rob!
@@gds2006 Good Day. Not sure if you found a way to open the plastic door to the sump pump area yet, but take a look at the replies and there are a number of ways other authors have suggested to remove it. For me, I start by shining a light in the area so I can see better, then pull the left tab on the door towards me while I'm sliding a small eyeglass screwdriver into the seam. Once I have that side lifted (don't remove it), I slide my hand to the right tab and pull it towards me. Usually opens up completely at that point. Putting it back is just lining up the back tabs and letting it fall into place. Hope this helps, Jamie
@@gds2006 I had this problem too. It took several cleanings before I fixed the problem. The dryer would stop, make a strange beep sound letting you know there was a problem. I’d get the full sump area empty of water, and continue on before it was full again. After doing this a few times, and letting the area completely dry, for like a week, it was fixed.
I'm not a smart man, but I know what love is. And you sir have an admirer. This fixed my dryer that I have been battling for months. The sump fix is amazing.
I don't typically comment on YT videos but this video was so helpful. We bought our house along with the washer and dryer that were there. For two years I was getting the DR error on almost every load. This video showed me how to remedy the problem and we have had months of error free drying. Thanks so much!!
Thank you so much! I clean most areas of the dryer, but didn't know about the area underneath. I removed a bunch of lint and the dreaded DR code is gone. I am living paycheck-to-paycheck, so your video made a huge difference for me!! Thank you!!!!
I’ve been having trouble with our dryer for MONTHS! Stopping after 5 minutes with a DR error. Could not figure out what was wrong. This video solved our problem!! Thank you so, so much for posting this!
The trap door to the sump pump! I have been cleaning the vents constantly and water kept building up and the dryer would stop almost every cycle. I couldn't believe the water and lint goo I found down in there! I got it all cleaned out and it's working again! Thank you so much!
Most helpful video Rob. After having the dryer for 5 years I didn't even know there was a sump pump reservoir until I watched it. The dryer was stopping too often and not drying well. After removing a generous cup of went lint, it is back to full working order. Thank you!
6:22 i wasn't able to disassemble from them machine, with your help i did it and mine was fully loaded water and dirt. i cleaned really nice and it is working flawlessly, it dried awesome without any errors. Thank you so much
Great video. I flipped off the hudden panel and found a lot of water in there. Sponged it all out, cleaned the sump pump area. Left it clean and dry. Did another load of drying and it's now filled with water again. What else could it be?
That’s the sump area. It’s supposed to get filled with water. Then the tiny sump pump turns on and pumps it out. The problem is that dryer lint clogs up the sump pump and breaks it. That’s why I clean it with the vacuum. It sucks out all the lint. If it doesn’t work after cleaning with the vacuum then you need to call service and get a new pump.
Rob. Thank you so much! I've had my dryer for less than 2 years. After several calls to Bosch, and 2 technician visits with no success, following the instructions in your video, my machine is finally working the way it did right out of the box. I love it again. After less than a year's use, the DR light would come on after 5 minutes and there was just nothing to be done. I've always maintained my machine daily and monthly per the use and care manual. Now that I know to clean the back part, which really isn't as bad as your video suggests, I know I can maintain the machine properly. In my case the problem was not in the sump pump only. There was a thick layer of lint on the "back" wall of the cavity. I don't have a wet vac, so I just used a big sponge and a cloth; obviously not as quick as the wet vac, but not a game stopper. Thank you again!
We have a larger family than most and a large dog so it gets lots of use and lots of dog hair. LOL! Glad it worked for you! Thanks for your comment! Cheers! Rob
Thank god I found this video. Nobody ever told me to clean it up back there. The manual guide doesn't even mention it. I clean the front part every time. Tomorrow I will ask my husband to help me clean that pomp as well. Hopefully the problem is solved after that.
I just did this yesterday 11/10/23! The DR code is gone after running a non-existing load (two hand towels). I hand scooped what I could, before using a small 1Gal vacuum. Even then, the sensor knocked the time down to where it kicks the pump on (2 min) and No more code. Waiting on another full load of laundry to see if it really works!
We moved into a house that his this crappy washer/dryer. The dryer started stopping and giving the DR error this week. We cleaned everything or so we thought. Found out about the sump pit from your video. Opened it up with a feeler gauge and there was lint jello in there! Scooped that out and sopped up the linty water with paper towel. All good now. Thanks for the video!
I called Bosch yesterday after getting the DR sign and the person on the Line never mentioned the sump pump, as soon as I saw your tutorial I new I would find the truth, thanks for posting this.
This is the real stuff! That"s what i mean when i tell people around me, how and why to clean it seriously. Nobody is waiting on a fire or a broke drywasher! Top video! thanks.
Rob, Thank you for sharing your knowledge on the "DR indicator" troubleshooting process, as the Manual makes no reference to the Sump pump cleaning for the Bosch Dryer. This is how Contractors make money, via Bosch....sad they don't include this portion in the maual. THANKS FOR SHARING...I'll surley pass it on to those in need.
Thank you! Thank you for this video. We were getting the "DR" error message, and I just couldn't believe that an expensive appliance could need a service call after we only owned it for 7 months. We had done everything except open the little door that hides the sump pump. We wiped with clean rags, and we are back in business! Thank you again!
Great video, Ron. Access through the plastic sump cover is ok, but will not allow thorough cleaning of the pump impeller and/or discharge orifice. If Bosch can't improve on the design to keep lint out of the sump and pump, the least they could do is put a small 6"x12" panel on the rear left side, held in place by one screw to allow full access to the pump and sump assembly. Current design requires full removal of top and left side covers, partial removal of front control panel, 10+ screws and assorted plastic tabs/force fits, to access pump. Despite the extra work was glad I accessed the pump assembly. My sump and pump were fully filled with lint/gel. I could clearly see what I was cleaning, was able to fully clean the impeller. Removal of the left side panel with various plastic force fits and screws into plastic attachments seems to me to be something that will not hold up over multiple removals. Was the longest part of the process.
I wish they put the whole assembly at the back of the dryer with an access hatch so you could wipe down the back where it builds up a thick layer of lint and properly clean out the sump pit and also have access to replace the pump if necessary. Thanks for your comment! Cheers! Rob
Thank you so much! I had no idea about the sump pump pit. I was so close to buying a new dryer after paying almost $200 to get it serviced (the repairman never told me about the sump pump pit) just to have the "DR" error code come up not even 6 months later. Thank you!!
Yeah it was a total surprise to me too! I had to have it serviced (under warranty) and the repair guy had never taken one apart so we worked on it together. He replaced the pump and that's when I found out about the sump pit and access panel. I also learned to clean lint out of the back and sides of the dryer as they were very dirty when we fully disassembled the dryer. Glad to hear you were successful! Thanks for your comment! Cheers! Rob
Had my dryer for over a year and just saw the drop down door the houses the filters. Wow, so found your video which is so informative, would never had figured out there is a sump pump!!! Your video was good for not only removing components - but figuring out how they go back. I had so much dog hair / lint in the back compartment, which is a sealed unit, that when I spray washed it outside I could not get all the soggy clumps out. Tried my tweezers, not long enough and then got a pair of wooden take-out chopsticks, ideal!! Thank you Mr. Rob.
Thank you so much for making this video, I've been doing appliance repair for 22 years and had never came across one of these dryers. I do you tube videos too, so I went to you tube and found this video. I got the call done and made the customer happy.
This is our dryer since we bought a home last fall. Cleaning the heat exchanger and area behind it monthly has maintained it for us. Then it wouldn't finish a dry cycle, beeping after about 6 minutes. We could always reset it but it was frustrating. Taking the sump pump plate off and cleaning it out with a wet vac did the trick, just like this video shows. We have new sensors ordered but the clogged sump pump was the issue! The Bosch manual we have doesn't do a good job of explaining how to take sump pump plate off to clean. Hopefully they added that to newer models! Thanks for the video!
Great dryer and great video! I got a bit lazy cleaning mine. I do the usual filter cleaning but neglected the lint screen and sump. I scrubbed my lint screen with mild dish soap and a plastic bristle brush rinsed thoroughly and dried it. For the sump I am sans shop vac so I opened it and dug it out with my hand. Then dried it out with paper towel to get as much goo out as possible. I then poured some hot water into the sump with a bottle and agitated it with my hand and scrubbed around with my fingers. I turned on the dryer after putting all the part back together and holy crap the stuff that pumped out! I did this 3 more times until all the discharge water came out clean. Works great now! Two dogs, a cat, and a wife...sure fills the lint trap fast!!
LOL! Yeah, we have a dog now so I totally understand! Adding water is a good idea. I might try that next time. Thanks for your comment and tips! Cheers! Rob
@@robsgaragewoodworkin Hope all is well! Its been a year since my last comment and since my last deep clean. My dryer kept showing the clogged condenser error. So I remembered this video and it all came back to me...this time there was lots of scum in the sump so I scrubbed it out with vinegar and water and kept flushing it until the water was sort of clean. Unfortunately, my laziness caused the DR error as the pump was still full of lint and stuff. So I flushed it until the water came out clear and so far so good. I'll also mention, when you get the DR error you can blow sharply into the end of the drain hose to dislodge any lint add some water to the sump and flush out the system. I don't recommend putting your mouth on the hose though, make a fist around the hose and blow against your hopefully cleaner hand :)
Thank you so much for this video!!!! It's the only useful video I found for this specific dryer. Very well explained. I was able to clean the dryer without fear of ruining it.. Thank you again!!!
I just moved into my new apartment and the previous tenants never cleaned their lint trap or their internal components. I have been looking for days to find information and no where did it say anything about the sump pump trap. THANK YOU. My dryer was better after cleaning everything thoroughly, but this made it soooo much better. Maintenance will be here in a few days look at it and take care of the dryer otherwise.
Didn’t know about the sump pit. Awesome. Just cleaned my Bosch dryer. My sump pit it all the way to back. Stuck my arm in up to my shoulder and removed a large softball sized glob of mushy lint. Huge! If I hadn’t got this out, wouldn’t have made a change in drying. My sump pit is just open, but thanks to you I had courage to try. Turned out to be easy, but hard, my dryer isn’t stacked on lift or washer. Lots of crawling. ❤️
Hi Rob. Thank you from France. You saved my dryer and made it work properly again after having problems during almost a year and finding no good solution elsewhere. Thank you so much.
Three cheers for Canadian Rob! Moved into a place last year that had a Bosch 500 ventless dryer and have been dealing with the "DR" code issue ever since. Many times I immaculately cleaned the lint filter, 2 sensors, and the condenser area. Still I would get the blasted BEEP-BEEP-BEEP followed by the "DR" code. The Bosch user manual only says to call a repairman for DR Codes. It never talks about the sump pump pit area needing to be cleaned. Along comes Rob and his terrific U-Tube. Did exactly what you instructed in cleaning out the pit (using my hands and rags vs. a shop-vac) and WOW! The area was absolutely filled with huge clumps of junk. The dryer now runs like brand new! Amazing!!! I had begun contemplating a service call and potentially buying new appliances for $3K.....you saved me a lot of money Rob. You're the best!!!!!!
Thank you very much. I have that dryer for 5 years and my wife made fun of me all the time because it didn't dry properly. I always removed all the stuff from that trap thing and once awhile I cleaned out that waffle thing in the bottom draw. Just weeks ago I realized that there was a lint build up at the very end of that channel. I removed those too. But now I solved the real problem which was the stuff in the sump pump area. Since this is not described in the manual that is impossible to find. Less than 10 minutes of a job with two little screw drivers and a sponge. Thank you again.
Thank you so much for this easy-to-follow tutorial! Like others, I didn't know the sump pump existed back there (or needed cleaning) and after many years of use, ours really needed a good clean. It wasn't an easy reach as it's floor based, but I now have a much better working, and smelling, dryer!
My bosch dryer's pump is jammed too and it stops everytime after running for a few minutes. I cleaned the sump area but the pump still isn't working as it should. Looks like lint made its way into the pump. Thanks for the video. It was really helpful. Subscribed!
Yeah mine died in 6 months and that's why I made this maintenance video. You may be able to replace it from the inside. We removed the steel outside to access it and it was super difficult. The repair guy said he would try accessing the pump from the inside on his next repair. Good Luck and Thanks for the Sub. and your comment! Cheers! Rob
Brilliant video! I clean the lint basket and filter regularly but nothing in the manual talks about the sump pump. Showing how to remove the plate inside was very helpful. Without the video I would never have gotten it out. Once you know how, it's not too bad to remove. Thank you so much. Sadly, I still hate my dryer and having to clean the sump pump didn't help at all with my feelings about the dryer but thanks to you, it's up and running again.
Great video . moved into a apartment using this washer dryer set unit. it really helped me find out what to look for and how to clean it all. sure enough they dont clean the insides of the filters and upon moving in today i found all these areas heavily clogged with lint and dust. thank you for turning me into a handyman for a day.
To remove the sump area cover, I just used a very short screw driver to pull forward on one tab at a time and it pops up by itself. Also blow really hard into the tube at the back of the dryer (that expels water). It may help unclog it. AWESOME video!
Just purchased a Bosch 300 W/D and wasn’t sure about the maintenance on them until I found your videos. Great job on being thorough and informative. Thanks!
Thanks Amy! I had an issue right away so I had to figure it out and make a maintenance video because there is no info on this in the manuals. Good Luck with your purchase! Cheers! Rob
To get the cover off, I slide a kitchen knife on the left side of the cover and try to make a bit of upwards pressure before I pop the tabs. It’s much less frustrating this way. Great video, thank you!
I looked for a sump pump and no clue where it was. Drove me nuts. Unfortunately I haven't yet placed the dryer on the washing machine despite having the mount for it. Let me tell you, that was an adventure - had to lift the dryer onto a 2 x 6 piece of wood so reaching inside while lying on the floor was easier. I live in the boonies with not a lot of neighbours to lift it up for me. At 78 this old lady managed the cleaning myself and thanks to your video I have my dryer back. They tell you to clean the filter but didn't say much about the sump pump in the sparse manual..
For those who have difficulty lifting the lid over the sump area, try this. Get duct tape, make a loop stick it on the lid near the tabs. Then with your fingers in the loop of tape, use your thumbs too push/pull (i forget which way, it should feel easy) on the tabs. When the tabs are push/pulled all the way, lift the loop of tape, it should come off easily.
I regret buying Bosch dryer! Had I known about this internal sump pump I would not have purchased!! Indesit was much better - I miss it, uncomplicated and easy to maintain. great video, thank you.
You know all dryers have to be taken apart to clean out for proper maintenance? This is a simpler one. I've done ones that I have to unscrew the entire back of the machine to do it. It took me a hour for those dryers but this one was 5 minutes
Brilliant video! Helped me fix my dryer issue because I did not know about the sump pump area in the back and I was getting error messages for a long time wondering why even after I cleaned the lint catcher, and the two filters below too...Thanks!!
Agree - I have a GE but the overall setup is the same. This was WAY better than other videos and goes into much greater detail than the user manual. Thank you, sir!
Thank you SO MUCH! We are in a tight spot financially and your video helped us fix our dryer! So, so grateful for you making this video, sharing your knowledge 🙏
Thank you for this tutorial- it’s hopefully saved me the expense of getting an engineer out! I always cleaned my filter & emptied the water after every single use, so couldn’t fathom out why there was a problem with my drier. It was a revelation to learn of the sump trap-door. It wasn’t easy to open, as you said, but I persevered and managed to open it & clean out the slimy water & lint. I’ve just used my drier with no problem- hopefully this has extended the lifetime of my machine and saved me a lot of money. Thank you so very much!!
Thank you! The sump trap door maintenance has got my machine working like new - and to think my husband & I were ready to ditch the dryer and look for a new one! I shall be giving my dryer a thorough maintenance overall on a regular basis now. Your video was a complete eye opener for me.
Thank you so much. That sump trap does not appear in the manual so it really appreciate that you showed us how to access it. I of course didn’t watch the whole video through and ran to open the trap BEFORE you talked about those silly little clips. Alas, I figured it out. Again THANK YOU. Running a load now to see how it works. Cheers!
Have this setup in my Apt. Dryer was stopping every 7 minutes. Looked in manual to see the DR code was lit on display panel. This video helped so much I had no idea about that sump pump and pit. Thank you very much you hit every detail precisely. 👍🏻👍🏻
Best youtube video on clearing the F09 Error Code. Although wife keeps filters clean on a regular basis, after 5 years the EC F09 appeared requiring cleaning the sump pit of all accumulated lint which gets past the filters. Only thing he left out was to first ensure condensation hose is clear by blowing drain end. After removing lint build up in the sump pit, I also added a mixture of 10% bleach and water in the sump pit, let sit 10 minutes, slosh it a little to ensure the float is free, vacuumed it well. Voila ... Done and saved probably$250+ service call and a week-10 day wait . East peezy.
Loved the tip for removing the sump cover with an offset screwdriver and a knife. I could have used a lot of expletives trying to remove it, but it ended up taking about 10 seconds.
As a brand new owner of a 300 series washer and dryer, thank you very much! The pictures and descriptions in the manuals are completely deficient. Guess I need to get a small shop vac for regular maintenance, but when it comes to the sump pump I'll need to call someone else to get down on the floor to clean it.
A good tip regarding the right-angle screwdriver used to get into the cover of the sump chamber. I have the BOSCH 300 and am really pissed that the company has NOTHING in the owner's manual regarding this Critical Cleaning Step. I am surprised that you apparently waited so long to clean both your air filter on the drum and the two removable sections of the condenser/heat exchanger unit. This is EASY to do so I basically clean the air filter on the drum before EVERY use and clean the two removable sections weekly. Thanks again, great video.
Great walkthrough.. completely agree about the small rectangular flap door.. its a pain in the butt if you do not know the trick to gently pry up with a knife while pressing on the locking clip to raise it up. Wish I had found this long before I started doing my maintenance on my Dryer unit.. still love the Bosch!!
I found that if you leave that condenser door open while running the dryer that it will fill that cavity with the dryer lint particles. Super fine stuff. You have to keep the system sealed up.
Awesome and thorough video. We’ve had our Bosch series 500 set for well over a year. It is our second set so it doesn’t get used as frequently, but I just happened to look at that lower access drawer and thought I’d look up videos on cleaning the Bosch ventless. You probably saved me multiple hundreds of dollars!! Thank you and Merry Christmas.
I Recently purchased this washer dryer set. I have been cleaning the filter every month, but was afraid to put my hand into the back and get the rest of the linty stuff, I am no longer afraid!
God bless you and the internet. Figured it was easier to try a youtube video than call Bosch and have a technician take a look. Would've never seen the sump pump without this video. Dryer works again and DR error message disappeared. Seriously, thank you so much!!
Thank you very much, specifically for the blocked pump area. I have been cleaning out each area but couldnt figure out how to get to the sump pump area, nor clean it. I agree, they should have made it accessible as a manufacturer.
This was great, Thanks! I couldn't figure out how to get the back sump cover off based upon other model videos! Fortunately, my issue was a simple fix of the pump hose having fallen off in the back and leaking on the floor. But now I know how to clean it all!!!!
I was ready to heave my 800-series out the window before watching Rob''s knife-shim technique to opening that horribly designed sump pit cover! That's $300 twice a year saved... BTW with a very thin knife blade, I didn't even need the 2nd screwdriver tool...it just popped open with finger pressure on the tab.
Thanks for your comment! Don’t forget to subscribe as I’ve got lots of diy homeowner content. Congratulations on getting into home ownership in this difficult market! Enjoy your new home!
I was thinking of buying the Bosch 500 series but after this video, I find it insane that you need to do this much maintenance on a dryer. Looks like they haven't figured out the engineering for these new dryers yet. How often do you have to do this. It seems like so much work. Appreciate the videos too!
Thanks! It's a bit of work. If you need to put a dryer in a place that has no availability for ductwork or you are super environmental, then this is your laundry set. If you don't have special requirements then I would just get a regular set. Good Luck! Cheers! Rob
Well I do have old duct work but Miele is out of my price range and I really like the Bosch brand. We live in a townhouse in Toronto and our washer just went. Miele is under 4K with rebates and Bosch is 1/2 the cost. I know that this is the way of the future but man the maintenance is a real kick in the nuts. Is this a monthly thing or more? If it wasn’t Covid right now I’d go Miele...
I only remove all the movable compartments once a year over 2 years and my Boch dryer still working like always..I think Boch dryers are one of the besreaAlsonmy.model.ses newer so Indont remove and clean to that extent. It's really not much effort actually. I don't vacuum I just wipe the inside.
@@lawrenceng304 We are very satisfied with this washer and dryer. It took us two years before we got this issue. The video helped immensely. We are thinking that if not every 6 months, once a year maintenance will be fine.
To get the back cover off alternatively is to gently jam a screw driver on the left side to put some torque on the cover and release it one at a time with your fingers. When you release the left clip the cover will pop half up and you can move your screwdriver over a bit and pop the right clip and it will come out. Be careful replacing the cover to get the back retainers aligned. A good cleaning allows you to see the retainers. If you miss the cover will still go in but will not be flush.
Thanks for this Rob! Any tricks to removing the little door leading to the sump pump reservoir? I can't seem to pop it out no matter what I try. NVMND, I went back and saw you actually talk about it! Thx again!!
@@margaret72nyc Check out the 7 minute mark. You have to pull the tabs toward you. Do one side at a time and jam a knife under it when you release the tab. (Prevents it from locking again)
Great video. Is this a design issue by Bosch? When you remove at 0:46 theres is a lot of water pooling. Same in my machine. Why did they put such a large ridge, gravity wont make water go towards the pump, even when machine is level...
Great video. I agree that the pump should be accessible from the back. But I think the reality is that these units are usually crammed into a tight space, with the back unaccessible. Not having a dryer vent is awesome.
I mean so it's user serviceable or easily repairable. Having it in the front would be best or a side panel access port would be sufficient. The ventless dryer gives you so many more installation options and I like it because it heats my basement in the winter. Thanks for your comment! Cheers! Rob
@@robsgaragewoodworkin Yeah, it's definitely in a strange spot. Thanks to you, I opened mine up and pulled out a clump of really fine fibers. Bosch should make it more clear that someone should check the pump compartment from time to time.
Great video. I appreciate that you showed how to open the flaps without breaking them :) My dryer, same series as the one in this video, displays DR after about 5 mins. I checked that the hose wasn't clogged or impeded at the drain end, so I imagine the problem must be in the dryer end or a software issue. Although I clean the filter and heat exchanger regularly, and they never got nearly as gross as these, I can see how the sump area could get filled with crap.
It really is a design flaw having the sump set up where it is and how it's not really accessible. I clean mine fully about 4 times per year. We have a dog now so we are cleaning the rest of it more frequently. Thanks for your comment! Cheers! rob
Hi Bettina. I'm having the same DR issue. I clean regularly too and even pull the side panels off and clean the water sensor. That fixes the DR issue for another few loads the back to that bloody error code/beeping issue again. Have you been able to solve this?
I learned it the hard way when we had to replace the sump motor 6 months in. The tech and I took it apart together and he suggested that the next one he has to do he'll try to do it from the inside because taking it apart from the outside was miserable.
@@robsgaragewoodworkinthank you. I was a bit confused about that part. I’ve read some places that they do need small amounts of water to start but was unsure
Great video and very honest. However, I recommend cleaning the lint filter (washing it!) and condenser/heat exchanger weekly. Don't let it get to the state that Rob did for this video - he probably did this just so we would appreciate the information he was showing us.
Agreed, in another video he says "clean the lint filter every once in a while". But the manual says "clean the lint filter after EVERY CYCLE". This way it doesn't get as extremely dirty as in this video. For the rest I guess it depends on how often you use it.
We clean the lint trap every use but the condenser less often and I do a deep clean every 3 months. We have a large breed dog so most of the stuff in the condenser is dog hair.
You have actually saved people hundreds of dollars. Thank you, you magnificent Canadian homeowner.
That's good News!!! Thanks for your comment!
Cheers!

I can’t open the area to the sump pump area
@@JamieSaives Thank you. Got it open. Cleaned out water and lint. Fingers crossed that is enough to get pump working.

You saved me from losing my sanity. That trap door is impossible to figure out how to open. Thanks for explaining!
Thank you soooooo much! Have never seen such a comprehensive video on how to fix this dryer. Perfection!
Cheers!

@@robsgaragewoodworkin instead of a shop vac, I used a Mastercraft drill pump kit and a sponge. It worked well to suck the water out of the cavity.
Someone suggested using a long radiator brush. I'm going to give it a try.
BEST explanation to open the lid to the well where the pump resides. Thank you
We moved into a house that his this crappy washer/dryer.
Excellent video! Suspicious that this procedure is not listed in the manual…but thankfully your video explained the sump cleaning! Thanks!
I called Bosch yesterday after getting the DR sign and the person on the Line never mentioned the sump pump, as soon as I saw your tutorial I new I would find the truth, thanks for posting this.
You’re welcome!
This is the real stuff! That"s what i mean when i tell people around me, how and why to clean it seriously. Nobody is waiting on a fire or a broke drywasher! Top video! thanks.
This video saved us so much headache. Had no idea about the sub pump. Works like new! Thanks from NYC
Rob,
Thank you for sharing your knowledge on the "DR indicator" troubleshooting process, as the Manual makes no reference to the Sump pump cleaning for the Bosch Dryer.

Cheers!

Can you take a video of removing those screws? I'm having trouble because the dryer reports a DR error. Thank you
Thank you so much!

My dryer was giving me issues with not drying clothes fully, this video helped so much. Thanks for putting it together and explaining it thoroughly.
Awesome! Thanks for your comment!

THANK YOU. ❤️
Glad to have helped!

I'm thinking of buying a new model with an open sump pump pit as well. Do you think the open-pit design is good?

This is one of the nicest comments ever!

You're Welcome!

Yeah I love it and hate it. Glad to be of assistance!

How do you blow really hard into the tube at the back of the dryer? sorry if that's a really dumb question ..

This was the best video I found for this. Thanks!

Thank you for this video. I clean everything except that sump trap and now I know what to do.
Thank you so much. That sump trap does not appear in the manual so it really appreciate that you showed us how to access it. East peezy.

As a brand new owner of a 300 series washer and dryer, thank you very much! The pictures and descriptions in the manuals are completely deficient.
We do clean the regular filters frequently but the deep clean is every 3 months. Thanks for your comment!

Great walkthrough.. completely agree about the small rectangular flap door.. its a pain in the butt if you do not know the trick to gently pry up with a knife while pressing on the locking clip to raise it up. Thank you so much for posting this helpful video. You have just saved me $195 on a service call.

To get the back cover off alternatively is to gently jam a screw driver on the left side to put some torque on the cover and release it one at a time with your fingers. When you release the left clip the cover will pop half up and you can move your screwdriver over a bit and pop the right clip and it will come out. Be careful replacing the cover to get the back retainers aligned. A good cleaning allows you to see the retainers. If you miss the cover will still go in but will not be flush.

Great Video. .MIne stops working long before it gets as Hairy as yours. Don't know why. What triggers the sump pump to turn on?
Great video. Is this a design issue by Bosch? When you remove at 0:46 theres is a lot of water pooling. Same in my machine. Why did they put such a large ridge, gravity wont make water go towards the pump, even when machine is level...
@@zewill87 yeah it seems odd
Great video.
I agree that the pump should be accessible from the back.
But I think the reality is that these units are usually crammed into a tight space, with the back unaccessible.
Not having a dryer vent is awesome.
I mean so it's user serviceable or easily repairable. Having it in the front would be best or a side panel access port would be sufficient. The ventless dryer gives you so many more installation options and I like it because it heats my basement in the winter. Thanks for your comment!

Yeah, it's definitely in a strange spot.

Hi Bettina. I'm having the same DR issue. I clean regularly too and even pull the side panels off and clean the water sensor. That fixes the DR issue for another few loads the back to that bloody error code/beeping issue again. Have you been able to solve this?
This was soooo helpful, especially that sump pump part. I never would have known that!
I learned it the hard way when we had to replace the sump motor 6 months in. The tech and I took it apart together and he suggested that the next one he has to do he'll try to do it from the inside because taking it apart from the outside was miserable.
Great video! Only thing that wasn’t mentioned was how much water to add back water in the sump?
@@amys5848 You don’t add water to the sump. When the machine runs it drains into the sump and gets pumped out when it reaches a certain level.
