One funny thing about the I Got a Boy teaser: when the teaser was first released, Sunny's hat actually had writing on it: "Motherfuc*er". Apparently no one who spoke English at SM noticed because it was broadcast without censorship. Eventually they realized what might be an issue and digitally blacked out the word. Still I'm surprised that Jessica or Tiffany didn't tell them right as soon as they saw this mv.
@@jamesrawlins735they might shoot that scene indivisually since that scene arent even in the MV 😂 Plus artist rarely watch their mvs before the released date e
There was a discussion amongst the fandom that the reason they wore suits... is because they literally was DESTROYING boy groups in this ERA... they change the game of BOY GROUP DOMNIATION..
If I'm not mistaken, they already explained that Mr.Mr doesn't have scenes of the girls wearing suits, but there was a problem with the production team that meant the girls needed to reshoot the entire mv and their comeback was postponed in this era. they only had a short time because the comeback had already been announced, so when filming they just wore whatever they had at that time (not the same clothes as the first mv).
Fun fact: Hoot was a surprise comeback that no one expect. Because back then, late 2010, SNSD was in Japan promoting the Japanese version of Gee, there was no sign at all that SNSD would make another Korean comeback, especially earlier that year they already released two singles, Oh! and Run Devil Run, as well as their 2nd studio album and its repackage. Then, all of the sudden, teasers for Hoot were released and everyone SHOOK.
In 2010 they also did their first SMTOWN in the USA in September. Hoot came out in October. Nobody expected it because they were so busy already. Best friend live stage was so cute too.
I still remember waiting for those teasers on their official website. I miss their old interactive official website. SM ruined everything that already good. :(
A man in Hoot video is Siwon, member of Super Junior, SNSD's labelmate. Also, orginally Dancing Queen was gonna be the title track for SNSD's 2nd studio album, set to released in November 2008. But SM decided to change the plan to the first mini album with Gee was selected as title track instead. Gee's fashion concept, colourful skinny jeans, was originally for Dancing Queen, you can see that the girls with white shirt and blue denim is on the album cover of Gee.
Yes, Duffy's Mercy was a huge hit and nominated for a Grammy so SM wisely shelved it for Gee and the rest is history. The girls were reportedly mortified when they learned SM was going to release the video of their teenage selves, filmed in late 2008, just before I Got A Boy at the end of 2012 when they were in their early 20's.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I remember reading something about there also being issues with the rights to the song, which is why they decided to delay it and then release it later.
and it was a very wise decision since GEE is so iconic and Legendary and is consistently been called the Greatest Kpop Song of all time along with BigBang's Fantastic Baby@@toyland12
Well - they put out almost 80 mvs (including the ones for CFs) - that's a huge amount of support - I don't know that any other group has anywhere near that many. (In fact, during their 5th year the members reviewed some of their mvs and Taeyeon commented she might have a hard time remembering a specific mv because they did so many.)
To give a context, Dancing Queen was supposed to be the one released instead of Gee back in late 2008 but changed plans, hence the comeback getting delayed. They released Gee instead in January 2009. So that Dancing Queen mv was really from 2008. That's really their 2008 selves lmao
SM actually bought the rights from the composer before Duffy released her version (she wrote many of the English lyrics.) There's some dispute, but most accounts say that when SM saw how successful Duffy's version was, they decided to hold off on it. (There's also some rule that a songwriter can decide who gets to record it first and Steve Booker (the composer) decided to let Duffy record it first. In either case, SNSD smartly went with Gee - and the rest is Kpop history.
They really be like vocals afrer vocals after vocals. In Dancing Queen, Seohyun, Jessica, Tiffany and Taeyeon sing almost the same line/part and you're just "Oh that's the main vocal... No wait this one... No this IS THE ONE... Who the hell is the main vocal?!" And the Keychanges in Mr Mr is just wow.
What makes SNSD iconic than they already are is that every single one of them have something going on career wise - acting, personal business, variety shows, musicals. Aside from that, SNSD really explored a lot of genres which makes their discography on another level. Their Japanese discography are on another level too along Kara and Shinee like they didn’t just stay in an audience friendly pop sound like the current gen do. Lastly, their vocalists are all amazing in their own leagues and it’s not just taeyeon. Tiffany, Jessica, Seohyun, Sunny and even dancers like Yuri and Sooyoung can pass as lead vocals.
Thing about SNSD is that they sound good in the studio and live on stage. They know how to give a performance that's fun to watch and never gets old. They are too much to handle in the best way ever.
you guys definitely have to watch mr mr live stages because they were in their SUITS ERA HAHAHA also please do check out their subunits as well!! (TTS, OH GG)
Ok with Mr. Mr mv, the comeback got delayed bec the original mv got corrupted and for some reason SM doesn't have any copy of it so they used the album jacket behind the scenes clips for the corrupted parts and released an edited mv, aka the one you just watched haha
Dancing Queen is actually a Korean remake of Duffy's Mercy. They were supposed to release it back in 2008 but it was replaced by Gee. The music video was also filmed in 2008 so that explains why they looked younger even though it was released in 2013
Mr Mr - the lyrics has nothing with the video concept - but i luv it that they had this evil Dr. Frankenstein aura making suspicious experiences with this random guy while sing about "don't give up be strong" 😂😂 I always wish they performe this on a halloween special with a dark scenario and dark make up... ❤
9:26 fun fact: there is tall team (sooyoung, yuri, yoona, seohyun) vs short team (sunny, hyoyeon, taeyeon, jessica). tiffany usually ends up in short team but she's like in the middle. usually on variety shows they would be split up like this for games.
I'm so here for your journey with SNSD! It feels like I'm starting to fall for them all over again! Trying to catch the stream cause I can't miss out on that 😁
The most fun and surprising comeback for GG is Hoot. All of us (specifically me) were clueless it was going to dropped. SM just decided that they want to give us SONE a heart attack without any warnings lol!
The guy in the 'Hoot' MV is Super Junior's Siwon, which makes both of you technically correct in identifying him as part of a band and an actor. As others have mentioned, 'Dancing Queen' was initially intended to be the title track instead of 'Gee', resulting in similar outfits and an overall feel since it was filmed in 2008. Many were surprised to see a plethora of MV from the past when it came out as a pre-release song before 'I Got A Boy'. Its live performance is a must watch for a vocal fest, the cute choreography is just an add on to the visual experience. 'Mr. Mr.' MV appeared to be incoherent because the "original" version was corrupted, causing for a delayed comeback. This chaotic moment in K-pop led other artists to postpone their comebacks as well to avoid competing against SNSD. The whole album leaked and everyone I knew who managed to listen to it really liked the B-side 'Back Hug' which I also recommend for you guys to have a listen.
Omg you need to get into the Japanese mv’s! Galaxy supernova, paparazzi, mr taxi, flower power and bad girl! Honestly their Japanese releases have been some of my faves
If you're done exploring their Korean and Japanese discography, I wish you watch their concerts (on your free time offcam), which is all available here on YT (korean and japan tour) from 1st con up to their last con and see how great their concert stage set-up, the setlist, the choreograpyy, the vcr and how good and chaotic they can be 🤧🤧
The Mr. Mr. comeback performances are a MUST SEE and put the video to shame. I never got the song via the translated lyrics till I heard the original English demo last year and then it finally made sense. They didn't drastically alter the original meaning, it's just clearer in English. I got to see them perform this in the "suit dresses" at KCON LA in 2014, but sadly Sooyoung was in Korea for a drama shoot.
The amazing thing is that Girl's Generation is even better live. Songs like "I Got a Boy," which was controversial when released, really comes alive when they do it live. I was not a big fan of the song when it first came out, but after watching the live stages, it became one of my favorites. Where GG really shines is singing ballads, which you haven't gotten too yet. Both Korean and Japanese ones are spectacular, especially when they sing live. Girl's Generation is the gold standard of Kpop vocals. There has never been, nor will there probably ever be a group this good ever again. Their harmonization is unmatched. My only regret is I did not get to see them live, and they were in their prime before social media took off.
Fun facts: 1. SNSD was suppose to comeback in 2008/2009 with Dancing Queen and even the MV was filmed but due to copyright issues, SM replaced the comeback with Gee(the group were having a hard time at that point and it was like a fate that Gee was release instead which helped their group popularity to blew up). They released Dancing Queen afterwards in 2012. 2. MrMr initial MV was damaged right before their comeback, so what we saw was a make up/retake of the MV. Definitely recommend you to watch their live performance for MrMr ! 3. As for Hoot, it was a surprise comeback that fans didnt expect and the guy in Hoot was Super junior's Siwon😊
No, these were not copyright problems. SM had the rights to the song. But Duffy's "Mercy" came out at the same time and was a big hit in Korea too. For example, the song "Dreams come true" by S.E.S from 1998 was also a "remake", but nobody in Asia knew the "original" which had been released shortly before.
@@TaiFei no it was a copyright problem. The official article has been removed from sm's website but it basically some legal disagreements had occured and they had to cancel the song and mv release. Ether way Duffy's version would've been out for a year by the time they released it (basing it around Gee release)
My favorite Running Man with SNSD will always be episode 254🤣, but episodes 63-64 where they performed a game with a HOOT concept gave a love couples❤❤, love triangle❤❤❤, and love square😂.
I recommend watching their stage performances for the full dance. Also you have got to watch their Japan discography - Mr Taxi, Love & Girls, Galaxy Supernova, Beep beep, Flower Power, Paparazzi, Bad Girl
Hoot, for me, is still the best concept that they did from the choreo, the costumes, and the song itself. I haven't seen any kpop groups did 70s or austin powers concept again.
Curious and fun fact, the boy who appears in Hoot is Choi Siwon, a member of Super Junior, who is a buddy of Girls Generación and they have a song called Spy.
I remember waking up before school and checking every social media I had for updates on them, their comebacks and merch. I’ve been a sone for nearly fifteen years (Literally most of my life, which is kind of crazy because I’m 22 now) now and even though they aren’t as active as a group now that they’re focused on their individual activities they are still my comfort group. I nearly cried when Forever1 was announced haha. I love watching newer fans discover them because they’ll always be my favorite. Also, Dancing Queen and Mr. Mr. have always been some of my favorite tracks from them vocally so I loved that they were in the same video haha
Mr. Mr. to this day is still one of my favorite titles by them i think they all get their moment to shine and i just love every outfit and the choreo amazing!
Sadly it didn't get as much support as Lionheart and Party and it was their worst performing main track (even Sailing outsold it). I think perhaps that the Korean public still had trouble thinking of the members as sexy women and not the innocent girls that began 8 years earlier.
@@jamesrawlins735 They were WAYYY ahead of their time with that MV that's for sure and the korean audiences couldn't take the heattt 😂🤣 I do believe it would have gotten so much more love and attention if it had been released during the later 3rd generation Era cause it's such a BOP
Always a pleasure to hear SNSD. Their voices and harmonies are great. Good choreography and a little cheesecake for spice. An Iconic and important KPOP group.
OKAY SO! Mr Mr was my first Soshi comeback so i'm so excited about watching this 😆 Yes, we hate the intro, but yes, 100% would re-listen because of the dance break, bridge, and Taeyeon's high note. they have a lot of iconic concepts and performance outfits but gahd the suits are just *chefs kiss*. they have a lot of variation on em too since they did weeks of promo in music shows, so we gays ate well back then 🤧
People have probably commented about this already but I saw one comment that missed a big part: Dancing Queen was meant to be SNSD’s release in 2008, because Mercy had hit it big in the UK (and maybe the US?) and SM wasn’t expecting it to be big in Korea too so recorded it. Mercy did in fact chart well in Korea (to the point where even a few years ago I could hear it playing in stores in videos) so SNSD had to hold it and SM held off an SNSD comeback until 2009 and reused certain parts for Gee which would go on to become one of THE songs in kpop. Gee skyrocketed SNSD to huge amounts of fame and a massive legacy. 2007 and 2008 were a rough year for SNSD as they debuted not long after Wonder Girls and were under the same label as Super Junior. ELFs and other boy group fans were mad SNSD had been around their faves, and organised a “black ocean” at the 2008 Dream concert. No one shone their lightsticks. So to go from being ostracised to being the top girl group of 2nd gen and having a debut song represented routinely by other girl groups and used in protests is insane to me. I’m around your age and have been a fan of them since I was a teen but in recent years haven’t listened much. These videos are definitely going to have me making a huge playlist to listen to.
I had already watched stage performances before but Mr. Mr. was THE ONE that I became obsessed with watching stage performances. Especially with how the MV turned out with footage getting lost and whatnot, it was so underwhelming. First Korean comeback since I got a boy, so you can probably imagine the letdown the fans felt from the MV. But the stage performances were awesome! They fooled around during the encore and I just loved the dance break!
PLEASE WATCH SOME OF THEIR ENCORE STAGES TOO🤩 THEY HAVE ONE OF THE BEST ENCORES OF ALL TIME. LIKE THEY REALLY MAKE SURE TO ENJOY THE STAGE BUT STILL SLAAAAAAY
In Hoot, the guy was Choi Siwon, one of vocalists in the legendary boy group, Super Junior. Dancing Queen, i believe, is a remake of the english version of the song which was by another artist (song might be titled differently) Mr. Mr, is a good song, nothing more to say.
I think they look so tall cuz they have long ass legs to torso proportions. And also the taller girls do a good job of making it look like they’re all the same height when they’re dancing, so unless you watch them on variety you don’t realize how short sunny and taeyeon are Plus they have genie where the concept is just legs for days so I think they have that image 😂
10:12 that was Seohyun. And SNSD is the only idol back then who actually put their teaser for their next comeback at the end of their MV.😎 The creativity was 2nd to none. Pre-release Dancing Queen a never released old song and then fast forward the time machine to present day with I got A Boy teaser.
Mr.Mr still amazing, the key change still slaps every time. I remember when the promo for it was going out and was some slight controversy over the fact it would be the first song where they danced with men on stage.
the guy in Hoot is SIWON the leader of Super Junior, another legendary boy group of SM. they were (and still are pretty HUGE in Asia and some parts of USA and latinoamerica) 18 years of career, and same relevant as SNSD was in the middles 2000s, so Super Junior and SNSD paved the way to the next bgs and ggs of kpop
I remember the original Mr Mr MV file got corrupted so SM had to delay SNSD's comeback and the girls had to reshoot, resulting for other companies to delay their group comebacks too because they didn't wanna come back the same time as SNSD.
Dude in HOOT is Siwon from SJ, and IS an actor Also the colored pants reminding you guys of Gee makes sense because they actually was supposed to release this song instead of Gee, but the studio that owned MERCY blocked them from doing it. Burnt toast theory, because Gee really was one of the songs that kick started the Hallyu Wave.
One thing to note about the Mr. Mr. MV is that half the footage got corrupted or deleted or something the day it was supposed to be released so SM had to push the release back and edit together what they could salvage.

Mr. Mr. is one of my most favorite kpop songs of all time. The vocal serve in the bridge and the last chorus is everything to me.
Curious and fun fact, the boy who appears in Hoot is Choi Siwon, a member of Super Junior, who is a buddy of Girls Generación and they have a song called Spy.
I need you guys to watch You Think from them..like gurl when I first saw that MV I was shooketh😂
ilove how they slay in those high heels! mr mr is a true bop
WE NEED MORE PART 😂
I remember waking up before school and checking every social media I had for updates on them, their comebacks and merch. I’ve been a sone for nearly fifteen years (Literally most of my life, which is kind of crazy because I’m 22 now) now and even though they aren’t as active as a group now that they’re focused on their individual activities they are still my comfort group. I nearly cried when Forever1 was announced haha. I love watching newer fans discover them because they’ll always be my favorite. Also, Dancing Queen and Mr. Mr. have always been some of my favorite tracks from them vocally so I loved that they were in the same video haha
omg I'm crying because I watched the past I hope you keep watching all the girl generation music videos
MR. MR. Dance practice and Sketchbook live performance are must watch! 😊
Mr. Mr. to this day is still one of my favorite titles by them i think they all get their moment to shine and i just love every outfit and the choreo amazing!
You have to see Mr Mr's live performance
Please react to "YOU THINK" !!!!!!!!! It's INSANELY GOOD and the VOCALS are CRAZYYYYYY ❤️🩹
You guys are gonna LOVE ITTTT
Sadly it didn't get as much support as Lionheart and Party and it was their worst performing main track (even Sailing outsold it). I think perhaps that the Korean public still had trouble thinking of the members as sexy women and not the innocent girls that began 8 years earlier.
@@jamesrawlins735 They were WAYYY ahead of their time with that MV that's for sure and the korean audiences couldn't take the heattt 😂🤣
I do believe it would have gotten so much more love and attention if it had been released during the later 3rd generation Era cause it's such a BOP
FACTSS
you need to watch their live performances!
3:22 it was all layared by Jessica's voice, she's indeed the backbone of snsd when it comes to vocals, More snsd video plsss
Hoot is such a banger, so underrated. The concept is great too and they nailed it.
Always a pleasure to hear SNSD. Their voices and harmonies are great. Good choreography and a little cheesecake for spice. An Iconic and important KPOP group.
Dancing Queen MV is actually recorded at 2008 for pre release Gee
But for some reason, they upload at 2012 for pre release of I Got A Boy
I freaking love Mr. Mr., one of my favourite SNSD/kpop songs! ♥
Y’all need to watch mr mr choreo and lives, it gives the song so much more justice than the mv LOL
My fave GG mv was I Got A Boy and Mr. Taxi. Can't wait for you two to react on those mvs
Please make sure to include the mv for Love and Girls in one of your get to know combos. You won't regret it. 😉
OKAY SO! Mr Mr was my first Soshi comeback so i'm so excited about watching this 😆 Yes, we hate the intro, but yes, 100% would re-listen because of the dance break, bridge, and Taeyeon's high note. they have a lot of iconic concepts and performance outfits but gahd the suits are just *chefs kiss*. they have a lot of variation on em too since they did weeks of promo in music shows, so we gays ate well back then 🤧
People have probably commented about this already but I saw one comment that missed a big part:
Dancing Queen was meant to be SNSD’s release in 2008, because Mercy had hit it big in the UK (and maybe the US?) and SM wasn’t expecting it to be big in Korea too so recorded it.
It's so many Second generation Kpop groups I'm really not familiar with so I'm really thankful for you're reactions
Im always excited when someone reacting to snsd n i miss em A LOT 😭
PLEASE WATCH SOME OF THEIR ENCORE STAGES TOO🤩 THEY HAVE ONE OF THE BEST ENCORES OF ALL TIME. LIKE THEY REALLY MAKE SURE TO ENJOY THE STAGE BUT STILL SLAAAAAAY
Mr. Mr. is one of my all time favorite songs
Mr. Mr album has one of my most favorite b-sides, Europa!
In Hoot, the guy was Choi Siwon, one of vocalists in the legendary boy group, Super Junior.
Dancing Queen, i believe, is a remake of the english version of the song which was by another artist (song might be titled differently)
Mr. Mr, is a good song, nothing more to say.
I'm always excited for SNSD contents! 💗😍
mrmr live is a must watch the dance break is crazy good
the guy in hoot is choi siwon from super junior, another sm group
In Mr Mr, the girls were doing a heart transplant. Did you notice the heart in someone's hand after they open up the guy's suit? 🤣
"What are you doing to this man?" in Mr Mr. She needs to see the choreography. lol
Can’t wait for you guys to see the 2015 comebacks!! Catch Me if You Can, Party, Lion Heart, and You Think
PLEASE WATCH THEM LIVE! Its a must :)
I think they look so tall cuz they have long ass legs to torso proportions. And also the taller girls do a good job of making it look like they’re all the same height when they’re dancing, so unless you watch them on variety you don’t realize how short sunny and taeyeon are
Plus they have genie where the concept is just legs for days so I think they have that image 😂
Thank you So much can't wait for pt.3
hopefully someone recommended itnw ballad ver. later for the deep dive stream. excited for the stream!! i'll definitely be there
mr mr는 무대영상으로 봐야해요ㅠㅠ 무대의상이 다 정장이라서 무대가 진짜 대박이에요ㅠ
Keep reacting to them, because it makes me nostalgic😂❤
Amo a GIRLS GENERATION son las Reina’s y leyendas del K-pop
You have to check Paparazzi, Flower Power, Galaxy Supernova, and their other japanese release 😅
Mr. Mr. is one of the best KPOP songs ever, peak mid-2010s KPOP perfection
GG “You Think” is a a must-watch MV ❤
Just watch every SNSD contents !!!
The 101107 hoot inkigayo stage was everything
this really makes me so happy!!!!
I think you will be more shocked when you watch 'You think' LOL =)))))))))))))))
I'm so excited for tomorrow's stream!
Mr.Mr still amazing, the key change still slaps every time.
I remember when the promo for it was going out and was some slight controversy over the fact it would be the first song where they danced with men on stage.
Mr Mr dance practice please! It’s one of my favorites ❤
Thank you for loving SNSD and make this video...
the guy in Hoot is SIWON the leader of Super Junior, another legendary boy group of SM. they were (and still are pretty HUGE in Asia and some parts of USA and latinoamerica) 18 years of career, and same relevant as SNSD was in the middles 2000s, so Super Junior and SNSD paved the way to the next bgs and ggs of kpop
He's not Super Junior's leader, it's Leeteuk. Siwon is visual and center.
on Hoot MV the actor/idol you're talking about is Super Junior Siwon
I remember the original Mr Mr MV file got corrupted so SM had to delay SNSD's comeback and the girls had to reshoot, resulting for other companies to delay their group comebacks too because they didn't wanna come back the same time as SNSD.
Thank u for reacting to SNSD.... am all for it ...
Dude in HOOT is Siwon from SJ, and IS an actor
Also the colored pants reminding you guys of Gee makes sense because they actually was supposed to release this song instead of Gee, but the studio that owned MERCY blocked them from doing it. Burnt toast theory, because Gee really was one of the songs that kick started the Hallyu Wave.
One thing to note about the Mr. Mr. MV is that half the footage got corrupted or deleted or something the day it was supposed to be released so SM had to push the release back and edit together what they could salvage.
Next : Catch Me If You Can, Party, Lion Heart, You Think
