Also the elder guardians giving you mining fatigue makes sense because if you’re job is to stop someone from mining and stealing something why would you not make mining a block as long as possible.
to me the conduit is a tool to simply live 100% underwater, as their effects counter everything that stops terrestrial creatures to have an underwater home: water breathing which is self explanatory, night vision that doesn't only makes possible seeing in the dark but also makes it much easier to see underwater in the game, and haste that counters the way that blocks break slower when the player is underwater.
The Drowned Journal, Day 53143: I see a person. He’s looking through the chests of our shipwreck. I used to be a proud fisherman before we were all swept under the waves. There’s a potion of water breathing in his hand, the legendary concoction that would have saved us. Alas, we could never get it, nor the equally elusive heart of the sea. Now, he’s running away with a map that shows the potential location of one of the hearts. He should know better than to disturb the grave of the dead! (attacks steve but gets hurt) Such a great civilization, now reduced to ruins. The Drowned Journal, Day 53146: I see the person again. So ignorant of how precarious life is... Wait a second, he HAS IT! Alone, that man accomplished what we could not. I just want to touch the conduit, even though it won’t do anything. (swims toward conduit) Even though he’s attacking me with his sword, my decayed flesh is healing, and memories are returning fast. Finally, I grasp the tool of God, and take my first breath in over 140 years. Atlantis is reborn by the actions of a random stranger. “Hello Steve, would you like mending on your elytra for 13 emeralds?” Note: if this gains attention, I will do one on the endermen.
Also, imagine you could build a cannon, maybe a small one, explosive or not idk. But you could put it on a boat to fight underwater or land mobs. Legit would be cool
Elder Guardians inflict mining fatigue when you're within a certain range of them. Their _attacks_ don't do that, its the Elder Guardians themselves (regular Guardians don't).
Idea, what if the drowned were killing sea turtle for their scutes the item needed to craft a turtle shell cap that gives you extra breathing time underwater.
yeboxxx channel they mean before the incident... when they were alive turtle shell helmets would have been useful now that everyone has drowned it’s just a habit in a way. Kind of like why the endermen hate endermite they don’t remover why but they know they hate each other. The drowned don’t remember why sea turtles are important but they just know
Okay super late but Mat missed that Drowned also dropped cooper ore, which is one of the most common conducts used in wirings which would back up of them building the guardians since in their breakdown, they’re shown to have wires under their thick exterior
"Let us go watch the end of times." *Stays at the [door] entrance of the house and see the wave submerging everything* "...Well that was anticlimactic."
i would say that this zivilisation build it too, they build everything, but they had lots of countrys, some were in the jungle and build the jungle tempels, some in the desert and they build the desert tempels, some needed gold and they build lots of mines in the red desert, but they were still the same people!
Theory: The reason why the Drowned attacks you is because they are filled with rage and envy. They’re jealous and angry because they see you, you the player alive and well. You are living a life they never could. And so they want to share the same sad fate they experienced hence why they attack. They want you to experience exactly what happened to them. You then became a drowned thus continuing the endless tragic cycle.
Tbh- that theory could also apply to the endermen as well- endermen usually come by to watch you build and mine without attacking you, but once you look them in the eye they get aggressive and start to attack you- maybe cause they see the player taunting them when you look at them? So maybe both the endermen and drowned envy you since they seem to be the only two mobs who used to be just like you (other than the other variations of zombies)
I wonder how Matt Pat felt about the developers removing the gold drop and replacing it with copper. Also call me cruel but I'm laughing about how I'm going to stick a nether portal in a nearby ocean monument to my base with the help of my friends and will gladly kill any guardian or drown that gets in my way. Edit: I feel bad seeing as how what generated nearby next to some underwater ruins was a shipwreck that seemed to be either leaving from that underwater town or maybe returning for new supplies or to say that they're mission was a bust but they weren't able to make it, all I know is that there in my world Frozen in Time seems to be a ship whose crew is either just getting ready to start their journey or had let down the people of their town by not finding the heart of the sea and what makes this even sadder is that not too far from both the ship and the monument was a buried treasure chest in which I found a heart of the sea so even though I plan on desecrating the temple in a way alongside with my friends by putting a nether portal in there, I do intend to try to make up for that by not only clearing the Temple of all of its water but, putting my first conduit outside that Temple.
So, the pirates who have dedicated their whole lives to the sea went out with huge ships and didn't make it, and then I come in with my tiny little boat and zero experience and I pull it off?
Ιωάννα Θεοδώρου Remember how boats used to break on contact with literally anything? They had those. It’s still sad that the only way I can repair and sail their boats again is through a massive redstone machine.
i think at the time that they were sailing, the water levels were rising, things were unstable and probably violent like a maelstrom as said in the achievement we get. They weren't able to survive that. By the time we come into the game as a player, it's been thousands of years. We already have the buried treasure maps in their ships, everything is already drowned, we have resources and can find it much easier.
The waves were much rougher than, and with the panic to find it, they lost their sense. They also had to fight against rising waves, and the waters were much tougher due to more people using them. But when we play, it’s only us. No one else is sailing, they have all drowned.
I just watched this, and the sponge is the most tragic detail. It's always at the top, all in one room... the last moments of the temple denizens were desperately using their remaining sponges trying to keep the last room dry, with no hope of swimming to the door, at this point. And then that last sponge goes down, and the water starts rising, again. For the final time.
Its really grim when you really connect the dots and realize with almost 100% certainty that it likely was the case where the denizens of the monuments were trying to prevent the inevitable
Ok new undertale theory I noticed that at the end of the sans battle there a brief moment where you here the save noise. So what I’d sans has a SAVE file, if you move after the battle he will constantly reset you like if he was LOADING a SAVE file Expand on that image what he could accomplish and what if it only seemed like he died?
But this could get even darker. The villagers would have been able to survive there for little while considering their knowledge about doors but they would have been deteriorating on food.So they would have been forced to eat their undead friends and that might be the reason there is rotten flesh in the ruins chest
*Drowned looks up at you, while holding the Heart of the Sea, then lowers its head- facing the ground, then slowly drops the Heart- as if it were saying: It’s too late now.*

I love the theory that Minecraft getting updated is canon, and the story is one of a post apocalyptic world recovering, bees returning, along with ocean life. The nether, while still a hellscape, becoming a survivable one at least. It all paints a nice wholesome picture
I just remembered that this theory is backed up by the fact that, when you go into the tutorials on the classic console additions of minecraft,if you exited the tutorials main land after the aquatic update and went to the ice part, you would be able to find the old tutorial underneath, flooded.
Every so often I come back and watch all of matpat's videos on minecraft (Yes even the one about peat moss). And everytime I get to this video, it doesn't matter if I'm paying attention, but the way matpat talks at the end of the video, discussing maelstrom, the fishermen becoming the drowned, shivers run up and down my spine. I see one small issue with the theory: if the drowned civilization was desperately rushing to save themselves from the rising water, why would they create the guardians, who were made to be underwater guards?
Currently about 75% done with draining a monument Philza-style, and this episode gave me the name for the settlement/outpost that will be built there. I kinda like the idea that he actually fulfilled the ancient quest of his people. Like he's the last of this ancient civilization and he finally manages to do what countless generations couldn't as one last victory for a nearly dead people. After all, it kind of seems like the Drowned were the original people, the zombies are the survivors that later built their home further inland (and built the mansions maybe, maybe, since they are old, falling apart, and filled with hidden treasure including the diamond equivalent to the gold box from the monuments. The temples, too, contain technology that just seems beyond the Villager abilities), and Steve is the last of his kind after some great cataclysm turned all the rest of his people to zombies.

“Hello Steve, would you like mending on your elytra for 13 emeralds?”

I would enjoy seeing a theory about jungle temples, there odd use of redstone traps, tripwires and lock combinations. And why they're in the jungle.
i would say that this zivilisation build it too, they build everything, but they had lots of countrys, some were in the jungle and build the jungle tempels, some in the desert and they build the desert tempels, some needed gold and they build lots of mines in the red desert, but they were still the same people!
Yes
Theory: The reason why the Drowned attacks you is because they are filled with rage and envy. They’re jealous and angry because they see you, you the player alive and well. You are living a life they never could. And so they want to share the same sad fate they experienced hence why they attack. They want you to experience exactly what happened to them. You then became a drowned thus continuing the endless tragic cycle.
But they ultimately fail since you have more experience than them oof, besides you need to save the end.
@@WorlWyrm True, just trying to make a point, an analysis.
@@amyrosefan1883 I know
Yes
Thats because you don't have to combat the rising waves
😂 fr
The waves were much rougher than, and with the panic to find it, they lost their sense. They also had to fight against rising waves, and the waters were much tougher due to more people using them. But when we play, it’s only us. No one else is sailing, they have all drowned.
Man, that one really got to me. The feeling of sadness mixed with a feeling of everything coming together so perfectly...
So true man and me too me too

I just watched this, and the sponge is the most tragic detail.
It's always at the top, all in one room... the last moments of the temple denizens were desperately using their remaining sponges trying to keep the last room dry, with no hope of swimming to the door, at this point.
And then that last sponge goes down, and the water starts rising, again. For the final time.
Its really grim when you really connect the dots and realize with almost 100% certainty that it likely was the case where the denizens of the monuments were trying to prevent the inevitable
