I literally binged every season of Community over the quarantine, and now there's tons of new content coming out about it. This is the Brightest Timeline.
Jagji56 it's getting brighter though, Donald Glover, who never wanted anything to do with Community since leaving, because he felt he needed to move on, decided to join the cast for a table read on zoom. He was on record saying he has gotten sentimental over the show now that he has kids. Maybe this, plus the show's newfound popularity might mean a movie is more likely than ever before.
Because Pierce’s death only was revealed with 5 minutes left on the show, of which he was unaccounted for in the rest of the episode, not to mention the rest of Season 5 before they bumped him off. But think about it. If he wasn’t in the wheelchair in Season 2, Pierce would be the perfect candidate for this kind of prank. He’s childish, offensive and immature, and would likely do this sort of prank for attention or out of spite, not to mention he would have the endurance to hold a grudge for long periods of time. Plus, his time at Greendale means he would know faster ways around the school through shortcuts, maybe even outpacing Abed on regular routes.
and because he didnt want to spoil the show even more for people who haven't seen it yet. figuring out who the ACB is isn't as big as a spoiler compared to one of the main characters freaking dying
@@tedioussugar384 He was unaccounted for but at the end of Cooperative Polygraphy, Mr Stone tells the Study Group he died filling those Sperm Canisters, so he was too... busy, at the time.
I personally always loved the idea that the ACB was actually all of them at different times. All cashing in on the mystery to serve a personal agenda and then hanging up the cape for the next person to use.
I love this one too! I feel especially Shirley towards the end would want the attacks to continue, as she's making lots of money from it (can't give change so charges $5 for sandwiches, starts selling t shirts etc)
This is my pet theory, except I think they don’t know that they’re all doing it. Abed starts it all, and other characters carry it on as things progress.
Yeah, he used Annie's shortcut theory to say that Abed was the only one that could've done, which I think was actually a setup to the idea that there were multiple bandits striking within a short span of time around the school. It's a bit like Chekhov's gun, because without assuming that's what the scene meant, the ending where 'anyone can be a suspect' comes out of nowhere, as the intent of the episode was to make everyone a suspect, but it's never brought up anywhere else. Also, Abed would never do that to Troy, but he might've been under the bleachers, because the only two characters I can imagine having night vision goggles are Abed and Buzzhicky.
My theory expands on yours: It was Abed from the beginning, and Annie actually figured it out on her own (hence the binder) but kept her solving it a secret so she could play detective with Jeff, using it both to spend more time with him and as an attempt to DTR. Then, she got carried away and teamed up with Abed to keep Jeff from solving it before she’d accomplished her goal, dragging the mystery along for her own ends.
100% agree. It was heavily hinted in the episode that it could be multiple people- e.g., Annie took 20mins to hit all the spots of the previous 'cracking', yet a simpler explanation would be that there were multiple people who did it- Annie & Abed. Plus, the weird reaction she has in the final episode is a dead giveaway.
this makes perfectly sense since the movie "Zodiac" have different actors for "zodiac killer" in each scene (or maybe almost). since it was known back then, also in the movie and was confirmed on the recent findings on the zodiac's code, that some of the killings that were recorded to zodiac killer does not match up.
During the call the pause when the ACB says "I mean, get a room already" tells me it's Abed. Britta says it quicker Jeff says it slurred, a bit nonchalant Annie was never cool, she couldn't pull it off. Abed is the only one that pauses his sentences there.
@@krauser18x oh yea it's only pure fun silliness. like I think it's supposed to be based on literally just two different details, one being when Leonard accuses Jeff of eating all the macaroni and Jeff says "but I really DID eat all the macaroni, it's crazy that he knows that!" I forget what the other is.
I think the reason Annie acts weird with the mention of the ACB is she knows who it is! She was really close with Abed by the end and they lived together for half the series
yeah thats what i was thinking when i first saw it. Its not her character to be the ACB but it is in her character to hid that truth if she knew if it was Abed.
you make it sound like they dated but they only flirted in one episode cause abed acted like han solo and never again but yeah everybody loved each other as friends which im pretty sure is what you mean
Okay but you missed one key thing. In the last episode of the show, right after Jeff brings up the bandit again, it cuts to Britta’s pitch for the next season. In which she says a very specific Dave Matthew’s lyric.
@@ech5915 that could be interpreted as a Freudian slip (as it says in this video), or as all her friends would say: “she Britta’d it”. Dan said the episode was written so that the ACB could be pretty much anyone.
I’m still trying to figure out what was happening. I better get What was happening: a critical analysis of what’s happening. We already know Angela’s the boss
Also, the acb’s height is a wierd factor to eliminate her for since we dont know for sure how tall the bookcase is and she could be wearing some wierd hat to make her taller. But she brittad a simple frog prank, no way she could do it multiple times over the years and not get caught
In one episode Abed literally helps a pregnant lady and gives BIRTH to her child all in the background. Then later in the episode when asked what he did that day Abed simpler replies “meh not much.”
@@lor4504 The Psychology of Letting Go, episode 3 or 4 of Season 2. It's also referenced in Applied Anthropology and Culinary Arts when Shirley gives birth
It was all of them at various points. This has been done TO DEATH in the Community Fandom. The truth is right in the ending montage. Troy and Abed did it for fun. Duncan for sexual gratification. Annie and Jeff to keep having their little flirty adventure. Finally, Britta, because she wanted to bring it back to write about in the school paper.
it would make the most sense actually, troy and abed just having fun works out, duncan 110% probably true and jeff and annies would make sense since they both have tension that should land jeff behind bars lol
Abed would've done it because everyone else was doing it, and he wanted to fit in (or experience what it was like first-hand, because that would be perceived as normal) as, indeed, Abed would've figured out everyone else was doing it, because he's special. Troy would not have done it, because he was victimized and that's a no-no area. Also, their doing things for fun bits don't harm others.
Not quite right. We still dont know who the original ACB was. The one Annie referred to in the vote for school council episode. Unlikely it was anyone from the study group since if someone from the study group was an ACB they were a copycat.
I think it was everyone but Jeff. Think about it, they ask had something to gain by doing it. Troy would get sympathy for being a victim, abed would have fun doing a bit, Annie would get closer to Jeff, and Shirley would get more money off of her sandwich shop.
The most damning piece of evidence that it is Abed is at the end of the episode when he is going through his DVR. The Episode is actually more of reference/parody/homage to Hannibal and, coincidentally in that scene, the Bridge. Abed is deleting the episodes, thus hiding evidence that this is the current homage he is doing
I still don't really know how I feel about the idea that's it's Abed. It makes a lot of sense and all, but at the same time, through the entire show Abed uses manipulation to have the people around him do his bidding. Why would he actually do the cracking when he could potentially get caught? The parts where Annie seems to out herself could just be red herrings, or perhaps Abed was once again using manipulation to fulfil the homage. Rather than him actually doing the cracking, I wager he actually had the whole thing worked out with Annie, and the whole part about Annie and Jeff doing it to be close was actually an attempt to try and stop Jeff for digging deeper.
However, the scene where Troy gets cracked, I believe Abed did that himself. One because Annie has a huge crush and wouldn't want to, and because Abed would have felt an obligation. In season 2 Troy reveals he has never really had any pain in life, it's also possible he was in on it, using the acting skills he learned in season 2 when he faked pain to get close to Britta. I mean, his whole thing in the episode is pretty ridiculous and similar to when he is doing something sarcastically.
I always thought it was Abed as he generally loses touch of reality and becoming the ACB was a way to “move the story along this season” as Abed would put it. Also what ACB says about Annie and Jeff definitely sounds like something Abed would say
I’d literally never heard of this until last week and I binged it all and finished it yesterday. I’m actually scared how even MatPat knows what I’m thinking.
If Abed isn't the acb, then it could be that he planted those notes to add drama. It seems like something he would do to make the acb more villainous and interesting.
@@sirensong237 I don't think anny would act like she does in the ACB episode then wierd about it jn the last episode, seems like she knows who did it rather than she did it
Abed literally never once in the entire course of the show says "I mean, ..." His speech is far too calculated for him to ever need to rely on that phrase like most people. Also, Dan Harmon, who wrote that episode, said himself that he deliberately wrote it so that it could be anyone. This question has no answer.
I remember the first time I watched this episode I had to pause from laughing so hard at the Dean going "Abed you're special...cant you just stand at the crime scene and see what happened?"
That actually explains Annie’s reaction! By season 6, she has lived around 3 years with Abed, so it’s natural she could have discovered the true identity of the ACB. They probably talked about it, and Abed probably convinced Annie to not tell anyone. Then, when Jeff mentions the ACB in the last episode, Annie gets nervous about Abed’s secret and behaves weirdly.
It's either that or she thought that it just wasn't important anymore as Pierce died and Abed stopped doing it anyways. She might've even been worried that it would cause tension or that Abed would commit to the bit and possibly leave the group now that Troy was gone as well. Especially Abed promised her he stopped for good as he's known for keeping promises.
That or she felt bad about being so obsessive. Shr could still be trying to work it out in a creepy basement with pictures and red string. She is a little unhinged. She was evading the truth about her obsession.
Still think it’s Britta…😄 I think she was standing on something…also I think Anne found out when they lived together and that’s why she reacted that way, I also think the phone call sounds just like Britta!
@@Akazainul yeah in season 5 Troy moves out and there’s an episode where Annie and Abed argue on whether Annie’s brother or Rachel should move in since they’re struggling with rent. Britta’s living situation isn’t mentioned at all but we know she’s not living there. Abed fits more as the ACB. Plus, Britta doesn’t really care for Jeff until the finale where they spontaneously decide to get married
nah annie would snitch on Britta, but she wouldn't snitch on Abed because they're closer. Annie goes along with Abed's weird ideas but she gets annoyed at Britta a lot
With the shows attention to detail, I imagine they actually had those pieces written by the actor. It would not surprise me if every hand written note in Community was written by the actor corresponding to the canonical author.
@@creativedesignation7880 Or it could just Annie imitating Abed's handwriting to throw off suspicion from her. Annie would be smart enough to know about hand writing analysis and not to use her own handwriting if she was the one writing the notes.
I was always partial to the theory where a couple of them did it. That each crime was committed for their own reasons, but they hid it under the bandit’s name. It would explain why Annie was nervous, because she committed some of the crimes. I also think that Abed wouldn’t crack his best friend. But he would crack people under the bleachers sort of in retaliation against the school. There’s a lot of interesting theories out there, but I like your approach.
Yeah, I always thought it was generally accepted that everyone did it at least once. Like how to crackings occured across campus within a short amount of time? Two different people did it.
and then there's the ending where Jeff says "maybe he'll be back", and Annie says "or her". It almost insinuates that both of them have ties towards being the ACB
see i agree. i do however think that abed probably wrote the notes and did a lot of the other stuff to drop red herrings. because that would get his study group involved and also doing that is what makes it like a show. he probably did troy because he set up the bear, if i remember right, it had one of the notes in it.
For me, the “I mean get a room already” line toward Annie and Jeff solidified Abed for me. Despite the voice change, I recognize Abed’s instigative sitcom tone in that comment. I have loved this show for years. Been raving about it for a long time and people never knew what I was talking about. Feels good seeing others enjoy this cult gem now.
@@victoriabowman1397 no they wouldnt. Jeff and Annie has qualities that balances each other out perfectly and they complement each other so well. Annie makes Jeff become a better version of himself, a version that has a heart and a version of him that's actually happy while Jeff makes Annie less stressed and less uptight so that she can enjoy life more. Despite Jeff's flaws and his personal demons, Annie chooses to see through all of the bad stuff and tries to see the good in Jeff, and the fact that Jeff is a selfish jaded asshole, Annie still wants Jeff because she does truely love him. Annie's relationship with Abed is more of a mother/big sister relationship, but Jeff and Annie has something special, they both love each other very much but Jeff finally let himself feel the love for Annie at the end of season 5, but he knew he couldnt have her because he thought that she was too good for him and that he'll ruin her life and at the end of season 6 it turned to him thinking that he'll hold her back. Because of his insecurities and personal demons, I think he'll be the perfect boyfriend for Annie because he would want to change for Annie so that she can have the boyfriend she deserves
Annie: maybe the acb's point is that we're letting our values slide Jeff: or maybe he's a frat boy coming from the laundromat Maybe he's the founder of the only fraternity on Greendale campus, the Delta Cubes
We should look at the victims. Ian Duncan who was cracked last, created a experiment in season 1 based around the Duncan Principle. Abed was the last one to leave, and he later said in the episode he was livid. Garrett, was a friend to Abed, so he could have been a mislead. However, he joined Troys during the pillow war, so Abed could cracked him in revenge and Garrett didn’t participate in any of Abed projects throughout the rest of the season. Troy, was definitely a mislead, but I’m not sure about Vicki.
This is an underrated comment that has gotten me thinking. I never noticed that Garrett never helped Abed after this incident, though I’ll have to rewatch to make sure. All the motives line up and Troy could definitely be a mislead perhaps even being in on the whole thing which is why he was the only one who overacted to be cracked, something he would definitely do for Abed or as part of the whole theme of the bit/concept
Actually I might be wrong about garret not doing in any films through the rest of season 3. I think that the Troy and Abed in the morning with Annie, where Abed has a meltdown over a bedroom makeover, was after the pillow war.
Annie's reaction in the finale (aside from it being tossed into the script, I guess) was probably more of a "trying to hide my frustration" thing. Because she was a forensics student, always one of the most intelligent in classes, and pretty neurotic about losing or not understanding things. The Bandit was probably the one case she could never let go of because they'd bested her.
Body language wouldn't suggest it was her, but rather she knew who it was. I like the Abed theory and they did live together, as we know from the clip episode of clips we never saw, the show continues even when we aren't watching. So who knows what conversations and slip ups has happened in their time living together.
@@epistolarydreams7555 what if Annie and Abed worked together? Both with their own motives? Annie to get close to Jeff and Abed to connect with people.
Just an idea: maybe the reason Annie was acting odd in the finale was because she knew it was Abed and was trying to hide it (she may have figured it out or Abed may have confessed to her at some point). She may have been trying to protect him knowing it wasn't malicious in nature
@@Mrmehaaw She may have already been crazy. According to the results of Britta's psychology quiz (as seen in Season 3 Episode 5 "Horror Fiction in Seven Spooky Steps") all of the members of the study group except for Abed (and possibly Jeff, since he filled out his quiz randomly) are sociopaths.
Hey, MatPat, in regards to the motive, let's not forget the Scream rule: just because an alibi exists does not mean innocence. There could have been a partner that was doing the attacks when the other ACB was establishing an alibi.
Except now look back at the prime suspect. Someone who uses his turning of the world into movies and shows to better understand it. He loses that if he lets someone in on it. So it's highly unlikely that he allowed someone else in or would have accepted an invitation to be in on it. And everyone else doesn't fit together as potential partners, covering for each other, especially with the one guy who is caught for it admits he did it for a deal.
@@justinalicea1590 except that very same play was also used in the Scream movies. Part of the first movie is a breakdown of horror movie tropes by a film buff, and while he isn't one of the killers, it does fit with this as they are effectively playing out horror and mystery tropes in both. Going by your logic that he might not want to include anyone else on the prank, consider that girl's reactions that MatPat mentioned. While she may not have been the one doing the prank, there's no concrete evidence to suggest she wasn't in on the joke. If she was, since she was basically leading the "investigation", she could have easily been trying to derail the investigation as she would have been just as guilty in the act.
You youngsters don't know how good you have it. Original fans had to go through 2 cancellation scares and 2 real cancellations. And we had to watch the gas leak season while thinking it was the future of the entire series.
It was Abed but both Annie and Troy were in on it. Troy was with him from the beginning because they are best friends, and he sold getting cracked way too much. Annie on the other hand figured it out almost immediately, but she decided she wanted in so she could continue to work with Jeff and cause it was fun. Abed struck a deal with Annie that would have her act like the bandit to throw people off, and be the one to take the blame if it was ever figured out. Change my mind
YES it makes sense. And Annie has several reasons to go along with it, but I'll add the reason that she would want to protect Abed and Troy from punishment if they were caught.
I liked this comment both because I agree with you AND it's the 69th thumbs up. I guess people could use hearts as dots, instead? I also went through a phase where the dots were small circles instead of being filled in, so there's a bit of variation that could be done here.

The attention to detail and hidden secrets in this show is INSANE! In season 6 Buzz Hickey disappeared without an explanation but an email discussing his funeral was briefly shown in the episode where everyone's emails were leaked
Wait it is? I had no idea but hyped as it is my favorite tv show as well! even the alst 2 seasons where most poeple I know fell of of it. Also @Warlock how will it become basic now? The episodes are already out it would have to be basic already, popularity doesn't make something more basic xd
After I saw the episode I was 100% convinced that it was a group effort. When Jeff and Annie chased after the bandit they rounded the corner and found Shirley and the prices at her sandwich shop went up after the coin ban. I think it'd be pretty hard to figure out everyone involved, but I still think it was a group effort from several people who all had deep motives.
That’s what I think too. This theory would explain Annie’s strange behavior despite other evidence not matching, she easily cracks under pressure (fake ID at the bar - Troy’s birthday) and would act strange when the topic comes up , maybe she had that notebook of evidence and articles because she was trying to determine who the other bandit(s) is. Abed could have joined in to add to the chaos and make it more movie-like. Duncan also acted weird so he could also be involved. Multiple people could be involved but they don’t know who the others are so they don’t coordinate with each other and could crack one another.
Abed also didn't disclose a secret in Intro to Felt when he clearly nodded yes with the group when asked if they had all shared a secret after Shirley's confession
It'sFortime! Season 4 was fine. It wasn’t 1-3 or 5&6 by any means, but it had as many peaks as it did valleys, and is still far superior to most other television.

@@Seanlkins His roommates would be Troy and Annie. It's not Troy, because he got cracked. It's not Annie, due to her handwriting, not recognizing Dave Matthews, and her reaction in Duncan's office, and seeing the bandit in the hallway at the end of the episode.
I actually just posted a weird theory that started around that line. I think there might be something with episode air dates. Specifically around the 25th day of a month. Season 1 episode 2( 9/24/09) at 25 seconds the Dean announced that there's a homeless problem on campus. Season 1 episode 5(10/15/09) at 6:25 Jeff tells Britta that he gave a homeless guy a quarter the other day. Season 1 episode 8(11/05/09) at 10:00 Jeff tells Britta that in last 2 days he only spent a quarter. A cracking may take place on the 25th of every month a season airs through. So I need to check S1 E6(10/22/09) for a foreshadow. He might have meant a couple of days ago as in episodes. There's also the dorm across from abeds is 204. The door is weird as well, but Season 2 episode 4(204)(10/14/10) is the Caesar Rodney episode. E pluribus unum? The dellaware state quarter was released in 1999 the same year Heat Vision and Jack released. Its also the first quarter the ACB used. My fingers at Jeff, but Buddy and the cool Group are the real conspiracy. Throw away thoughts are Anglo-Saxon revenge, superbowl 25( the stadium was demolished in 1999), Name meanings. Additionally Jeff stands in front of a peace poster in the S2 E8. Jeffery means gods peace. He also knows pierce wears diapers

Thankfully now that it's on Netflix he feels safe enough to make a video about it for people to watch.
for me, the biggest shame about people only just now discovering the show on Netflix is that they can't experience the metatextual through Netflix's binge model; the chart-able chronology between episodes and airdates, the jokes about Harmon's contentious relationship with NBC and Sony, the direct references to how fans reacted to events in the series a lot of those jokes can be spotted by later viewing public, but there is a special feeling to experiencing it in the moment but Huzzah for more fans! #andamovie

To back up your case about Abed being the ACB: it is confirmed that Abed himself doesn't like Jeff and Annie's romantic entanglement. In season 4 episode 1, History 101, we get a glimpse into Abed's 'happy place,' which is the idyllic TV show taking place inside his mind. In that 'perfect world,' Jeff and Britta kiss, not Jeff and Annie. Plus, later in season 4, we see a scene from the darkest timeline, where Annie gets released from the psych ward and Jeff says he wishes that him and Annie's age gap was bigger than it already was, which reveals that Abed is disgusted by their age gap. Additionally, in Virtual Systems Analysis in season 3, Abed gets mad at Annie for playing matchmaker with Troy and Britta because that would 'tamper with the fabric of the group' (granted, Abed had other, more personal reasons to be mad at Annie in this episode, but this was part of it.) Hence, Abed bringing up Jeff and Annie's relationship may have been genuine; he wants Jeff and Britta to be together, not Jeff and Annie, because Abed assigned Jeff and Britta the 'mom and dad' role early in the series. So that call was a chance for him to express his disdain for Jeff and Annie's relationship without receiving ridicule for doing so, while directing the blame toward Britta at the same time.
Is anyone else slightly stressed that if he'd just left out the MatPat part, "theorizing in the morning" would've had the right number of syllables? Just me, probably, yeah...
@@foxylost4172 Do you know what he's referencing when he says "MatPat theorizing in the morning"? On the show, two of the characters have a running gag of a morning talk show called "Troy and Abed in the morning," which they say in this cute, sing-song way. "Troy and Abed" has four syllables, and so does "Theorizing." So if he'd just said "Theorizing in the morning" it would've sounded perfect, but by sticking in the "MatPat" at the start it just sounds awkward to me :P
But, it isn't exactly the right number of syllables, it is closer to "Troy and Abed and Annie in the morning" that time that Annie stole the show in the episode where they all went to "therapy".
That’s not fair the Annie connection was pretty strong because Troy (she was obsessed with in high school and he never paid her no attention), Professor Duncan ( the Duncan theory she ruined it and he kicked her out), Garret ( Because Annie never really liked Garret) Then out of the munch she was the smartest to be able to make a pre audio to play at a certain time when she was in the clear, then in season 2 she was the only one talking about ACB so it looked like she did it to use for her political career because she has went to the extreme to get what she wants.

This all makes sense, except Mat Pat doesn't acknowledge that the ACB could be multiple people. Shirly, writing the notes and can't help but mention God; Britta, sees how close Jeff and Annie are getting; Prof. Duncan, providing the quarters and access to the teacher's lounge; Annie, learns about the group working together but keeps it a secret (maybe being blackmailed by someone), therefore looking guilty when the ACB is mentioned again; Hickey, learned about Dave Mathews from Duncan and is therefore able to identify him later on in the show. It could be Abed, or maybe Abed is just pulling the strings on a massive conspiracy that keeps everyone on their toes.
Exactly. the problem with matpat's theory is that he is convinced there was only one ACB when there are many evidence pointing to multiple people being in on it.
Isn't Annie with Jeff when Duncan gets cracked? She runs to tell Jeff that the ACB is Duncan, and seconds later Duncan gets cracked. Also, Annie is the kind of person who would WANT to solve the case, she wants the gold stars and the A+ so it doesn't make sense that she would do it and never solve it - and Annie wouldn't frame an innocent person (see dog episode where she almost transfers). I buy the Abed theory.
Duncan never got cracked. He faked it to divert suspicion from himself. He’s the quintessential serial killer. Dissatisfied with his life and powerless, he needs the rush of cracking people to give himself purpose and the sense of control.
Annie's motivation was spending time with Jeff. She's clever enough to pull it off and has access to the staff room as mentioned in season 2 episode 1 where she tells troy that the cleanest bathrooms are in the teachers lounge
Why compare it to the red Wedding, when there was a better example all along.. the last season was undoubtedly a more tragic event than the red Wedding. Red Wedding Killed some of our favorite characters, last season killed the show
I agree, Euclid. I still watched all of the series, but it did loose something tangible after season 5's Hot Lava episode. The rest of the season was good, just not as great. Wasn’t just Abed. The end of the show it shows a montage of certain people, with no particular evidence showing that they were the ACB. I believe this was a bit that Annie found out and asked Abed if she could help, so she could get what she wanted. Abed was the mastermind of the ACB but didn’t do all of the banditry. Annie helps out with the bit in the beginning for selfish reasons to get close to Jeff originally, to destroy him in the campaign. However she didn’t want to hurt Jeff anymore. Abed took advantage of this opportunity to ask Annie to help him with the bit. At the end of the ACB episode Annie says or her to emphasize she had a part in the ACB
Its a group effort, Even troy was in on it Hes known for liking buttstuff so he was chosen to be the only victem Within the group Also he took acting lessons Im not sure if jeff was in on it but abed annie hicky and britta were deffinatly a part of it
@@stanflamey8930 Troy would have been in on it from the start considering it was abed's idea and they can't keep secrets from each other that easily lol
When the bandit is under the bleachers, we see their “POV”. The lighting is green because of nightvison. Is this because the creators want us to be able to see what the bandit sees, or confirming it’s Abed. Abed is definitely the type of person to own night vision goggles, him and Troy but it’s not him. But what I think makes more sense is it’s not goggles, it’s a camera. Abed could’ve used the night vision setting on one of his film cameras in order to navigate in the dark without people seeing a flashlight. Abed has walked around the school filming things all the time and most of the times it’s from his cameras POV and I think he’s the only character to technically get POVs so it would make sense for the ACB to get one of its Abed
@MyNameIsMak So you're just gonna assume something said as a joke is the real answer? He specifically said right before that "I made it so it could be anybody" and that he couldn't say, but you think he's suddenly allowed to. It's not Annie, he said Annie as a joke and Danny Pudi agreed
ok but I personally think it is professor Duncan explanation: The bandit arrives right when Professor Duncan gets back from his 'grandma', and Duncan was also there at season 2. Of course he is a Dave mathews fan and randomly has a stack of courters in his office, with other pieces of evidence connecting him to the crime scenes such as how he needed Annie too 'bend over and pick those up'. And lastly my strongest piece of evidence, when he was partying he find his shoes untied when they are not, he bends over to pick them up whilst 'tying his already tied' shoe, then cracking himself. my theory is that he said that he cracked himself, but never really did, how will people ever find out. John Oliver, the actor who plays Professor Duncan's hight is, you guest it, 6'0ft matching the profile, and also has access to the teachers lounge so that he may cut through the school. but that's just a theory a gA- i mean FILm THEORY. But seriously I love community and is one of my favorite shows of all time. I am glad many channels have been doing community related stuff so that that this TV series can gain more attention it diserves. Thank you all.
I personally loved your theory you have me kinda convinced and I’m British so even if it was just a gag that’s not untied by British standards he’s just using his unique nationality as an excuse
I had never heard of Community before I saw this episode half a year ago. I proceeded to binge the whole thing in the first two weeks of summer break, and I’m doing the same this winter break. Favorite sitcom, easily.
I haven't ever heard of Community until watching this video. I'm trying to pick up the slack with some RUclips viewing simply because I don't have available streaming, but yeah, need a better way to enjoy this series..
It was Professor Duncan. He went away after season 2 and came back in season 5. He had the means (the box of changes). The handwriting on the letters are similar to the one on the “answer” sheets that he gave to Jeff in the pilot episode. He faked the cracking because he knew Annie was onto him. He knows and loves Dave Matthews, and he’s aware of the chemistry between Jeff and Annie. The only hole in this theory is that the caller didn’t have a British accent.
Voice modulator + people can fake accents. Even before he "gets cracked" he makes up some BS excuse about his shoes being untied "by British standards." He announces it out loud. So anyone watching him won't think it's weird for him to just bend over, anyone within earshot will back up the fact he was bent over. We never see anyone actually take off, Shirley never mentions seeing anyone run by. It was always Duncan, either cracking himself or faking it.
The cracklings were still happening when he wasn’t at greendale. In the season 5 episode “Basic Intergluteal Numismatics” Dean peloton says there hasn’t been active in over a year, meaning the last cracking was between season 3/4. Duncan wasn’t at Greendale those years. I personally believe it’s Britta and she stopped cracking because she was with Troy, started again when they split, and stopped for good when pierce died.
Can’t be him while he may have been fake cracked I would believe that if it were for the fact that didn’t they show the acb right behind him? I could be wrong but I don’t think i am
I always thought it was all of them. I thought some random person did it in season 2 and then in season 4 after someone cracked Garrett multiple people continued it. Jeff and Annie did it as an excuse to spend time together. Shirley did it because it was making her more money at her sandwich shop. Troy and Abed did it to keep the bit going. Britta did it because she’s Britta.
i think duncan was probably the one who started it in season 2 by accident but then decided to keep it going because he thought it was funny. and then someone in the study group started it again in season 5. possibly annie in an attempt to bring the bandit back so that she could get them for good, but i think that abed was definitely involved as well
@@mrcritical6751 I kinda always thought it was Britta, and Jeff and Annie's thing at the end was them realizing it was Britta. But after watching this theory, Abed makes the most sense. But Annie's reaction in the last episode is very strange if it's not her. Maybe it's that she became obsessed with the bandit? And that's why she got so embarrassed? Idk.
'it would be insane for her to be keeping such meticulous notes on a crime spree she herself was committing' Yeah, good thing these characters are all completely sane. All of them.
I also questioned this when it was said. She could have a split personality where she normally is just Annie (I love Allison Brie) we know, but then she could have a dark half that does things that she doesn't know is being done. People with split personalities each personality can write differently, too. But, if it is only one person, the height thing kind of takes her out of the running.
@@honolulublues5548 I also thought Annie would be way too smart to use her own handwriting, especially after Chang called her on it in season 1 or 2 (I think). But yeah, the height thing is kind of a big deal, although the way she reacted in the last episode is really fishy...
It really makes a lot of sense, cause Abed is also really into older movies and stuff. It wouldn't be far off for him to know about Dave Matthews either. Gotta thank the person who bought Annie's binder for sharing the info 😮👏🏾 Also, thanks for loving the show and making this video Matpat. Here's to hoping that #sixseasonsandamovie happens 😊

I literally binged every season of Community over the quarantine, and now there's tons of new content coming out about it. This is the Brightest Timeline.

Yeah, pretty sure we are in the second or third worst timeline given we still don't have the movie.
We are all getting new content on Community because the world is ending, so yeah, I wouldn't be so sure.
POP POP
I like how you eliminated Pierce because he was in a wheelchair in season two, BUT NOT BECAUSE HE WAS DEAD IN THE EPISODE SURROUNDING THE ACB
@@tedioussugar384 in the end credits of the show, they state that more crackings continued to happen. This would be after Pierce’s death.
he's either off filling those sperm cannisters or already dead.
and because he didnt want to spoil the show even more for people who haven't seen it yet. figuring out who the ACB is isn't as big as a spoiler compared to one of the main characters freaking dying
I still have to go by this theory. Also this video just assumes that its one of the group, it could be any student or staff memebr in the school
That's more plausible than this theory

It wasn’t a theory.
That wasn't a theory of Abed's.
However, I would love to see Mat Pat do a theory on the other issue: Is Nicolas Cage a Good or Bad Actor? Hmmmmm 🤔😁
@Cruising with Dr. Braxy Gilkey He's a cat. He's a sexy cat.

It also explains her weird behavior in the last episode.
This is probably my favorite theory since I couldn't decide who it was between the two of them lol
YES! Exactly this! I always thought abed couldn’t have done everything on his own.
During the call the pause when the ACB says "I mean, get a room already" tells me it's Abed.

Annie and Jeff to keep having their little flirty adventure. Finally, Britta, because she wanted to bring it back to write about in the school paper.
Yep. It's implied that it's more of a pandemic that everyone is getting in on for their own motives.
it would make the most sense actually, troy and abed just having fun works out, duncan 110% probably true and jeff and annies would make sense since they both have tension that should land jeff behind bars lol
Honestly this should've been obvious from the get go. MANY characters benefitted from the crackings
Not quite right. We still dont know who the original ACB was. The one Annie referred to in the vote for school council episode. Unlikely it was anyone from the study group since if someone from the study group was an ACB they were a copycat.

When the bandit talks through the phone, he suddently accelerates his talking, just like Abed does.
My personal theory is that there was more than one bandit, but Abed lines up. Though it does make you question whether Abed would quarter Troy.
Wiggins Iι Evil Abed maybe????
I think it was everyone but Jeff. Think about it, they ask had something to gain by doing it. Troy would get sympathy for being a victim, abed would have fun doing a bit, Annie would get closer to Jeff, and Shirley would get more money off of her sandwich shop.
Andy Villaveces What about Britta?
Britta had revenge on Troy to gain. He broke up with her not too long before that episode.
The most damning piece of evidence that it is Abed is at the end of the episode when he is going through his DVR. The Episode is actually more of reference/parody/homage to Hannibal and, coincidentally in that scene, the Bridge. Abed is deleting the episodes, thus hiding evidence that this is the current homage he is doing
i love this
@Miguel Messina we are forgetting lunch lady
@@DeepFriedOreoOffline but like the video said, the bandit is 6ft tall or at least the one that cracked Troy

"SIX SEASONS AND A MOVIE" quote by abed
Troy & Abed where one of the best duos in sitcom history
Yea he’s absolutely one of my FAVORITE character on that show. Everyone was amazing on that show but Abed was just on a different level. Haha
You should watch the theory on Abed and Jeff. It’s amazing
We're getting the long awaitrd movie
We should look at the victims. Ian Duncan who was cracked last, created a experiment in season 1 based around the Duncan Principle. Abed was the last one to leave, and he later said in the episode he was livid. Garrett, was a friend to Abed, so he could have been a mislead. However, he joined Troys during the pillow war, so Abed could cracked him in revenge and Garrett didn’t participate in any of Abed projects throughout the rest of the season. Troy, was definitely a mislead, but I’m not sure about Vicki.
The reason why his yam is dead
@@josephnewsome2935 GENUIS
@@josephnewsome2935 But the the whole study group would be suspects
Nope it was her. The keys “under the mat” Annie knew everything about the school especially the teachers lounge and she was acting out because of Jeff
I thought she was embarrassed because of the awkward tension between her and Jeff in that episode
Or she was so obsessed with the crime that it made her crazy

I thought she was just remembering how close she and Jeff got
@@Mrmehaaw She may have already been crazy. According to the results of Britta's psychology quiz (as seen in Season 3 Episode 5 "Horror Fiction in Seven Spooky Steps") all of the members of the study group except for Abed (and possibly Jeff, since he filled out his quiz randomly) are sociopaths.

Hey, MatPat, in regards to the motive, let's not forget the Scream rule: just because an alibi exists does not mean innocence. There could have been a partner that was doing the attacks when the other ACB was establishing an alibi.
“We all go a little mad sometimes”. - Anthony Perkins, Psycho”

When I started watching it back in 2009 I never knew anyone else who was interested in watching so it's nice finally seeing people appreciating it!

Same, I thought it was a big scheme to get more cash to Shirley’s sandwiches or the school or something
Yeah same
That’s what I think too. Multiple people could be involved but they don’t know who the others are so they don’t coordinate with each other and could crack one another.
exactly! at the end of the episode there’s a montage showing how it benefitted all of them. i don’t think doing all of this fits any one character
I always thought it was group or countless anons tbh but the abed theory does sound possible though with abed we'll never know

Jeff in season one: “I gave a quarter to a dirty bum today”
Yooo

I love this show immensely and every time MatPat mentions it I feel joy. Thankfully now that it's on Netflix he feels safe enough to make a video about it for people to watch.
for me, the biggest shame about people only just now discovering the show on Netflix is that they can't experience the metatextual through Netflix's binge model;

Additionally, in Virtual Systems Analysis in season 3, Abed gets mad at Annie for playing matchmaker with Troy and Britta because that would 'tamper with the fabric of the group' (granted, Abed had other, more personal reasons to be mad at Annie in this episode, but this was part of it.)
Hence, Abed bringing up Jeff and Annie's relationship may have been genuine; he wants Jeff and Britta to be together, not Jeff and Annie, because Abed assigned Jeff and Britta the 'mom and dad' role early in the series.

"Troy and Abed" has four syllables, and so does "Theorizing." So if he'd just said "Theorizing in the morning" it would've sounded perfect, but by sticking in the "MatPat" at the start it just sounds awkward to me :P

Edit: Also forgot that Abed was quite a computer wizard, being able to pull complicated programs out of a heavily coded game isn't really easy (Hilda episode)
Also in the woman's studies episode he sees everybody in this green computer panel lense.
@MyNameIsMak How is that proof? Dan literally says it could be anyone, then ABED says it's Annie. Jeebus, don't take up a law degree mate.
Remember the season when he pointed out all the girls flaws using his green vision thingy? Well, same thing.
@MyNameIsMak He didn't confirm it... They were just joking around.
ok but I personally think it is professor Duncan
explanation: The bandit arrives right when Professor Duncan gets back from his 'grandma', and Duncan was also there at season 2.
Yeah but this took me like a minute to read and wasn’t as entertaining as this 19 minute video
@@NotMe-yh5gi noted
I personally loved your theory you have me kinda convinced and I’m British so even if it was just a gag that’s not untied by British standards he’s just using his unique nationality as an excuse
@@dantheman4908 amen
It's solid. Duncan was definitely in on it.
Could be a ghost face voice box situation
I think Duncan was the og ACB but after Garret got cracked other people started joining in.
Britta did it because she’s Britta.
i think duncan was probably the one who started it in season 2 by accident but then decided to keep it going because he thought it was funny. and then someone in the study group started it again in season 5. possibly annie in an attempt to bring the bandit back so that she could get them for good, but i think that abed was definitely involved as well
That's interesting, but I don't think Jeff was involved at all. It doesn't fit his character. Annie? Sure.
Britta probably did it to get clout by releasing an expose about the ACB
@@mrcritical6751 I kinda always thought it was Britta, and Jeff and Annie's thing at the end was them realizing it was Britta. But after watching this theory, Abed makes the most sense. But Annie's reaction in the last episode is very strange if it's not her. Maybe it's that she became obsessed with the bandit? And that's why she got so embarrassed? Idk.
Lmaooo wow. this is from a reddit post from 2016. props to you for going all ghe way back to plagiarize something.
'it would be insane for her to be keeping such meticulous notes on a crime spree she herself was committing'
Yeah, good thing these characters are all completely sane. All of them.
Peanut the Lion she might be keeping the scrap book as a trophy
I also questioned this when it was said. She could have a split personality where she normally is just Annie (I love Allison Brie) we know, but then she could have a dark half that does things that she doesn't know is being done. People with split personalities each personality can write differently, too. But, if it is only one person, the height thing kind of takes her out of the running.
@@honolulublues5548 I also thought Annie would be way too smart to use her own handwriting, especially after Chang called her on it in season 1 or 2 (I think). But yeah, the height thing is kind of a big deal, although the way she reacted in the last episode is really fishy...
And especially for Annie that would be sooo out of character. Because she never keeps notes on anything she does.
Isn’t there an episode where brita as part of her phsych class discovers all but one is insane and it is implied that abed is the normal one
What if it’s none of the main cast members?
