    The best thing about this is Babyface understands he’s an accompanying singer and doesn’t try to over perform, but matches her mood and tone.

    When I was in middle school, I used to hurry home every afternoon just so I could call in to my local radio station to request "Walkaway Joe"! It's such a great song.

    I’ve been listening to this song for over 20 years plus. How ironic when the “one” who walked away and crushed my heart was named Joe.

    I love me some Trisha Yearwood and Babyface individually and as a combo. Trisha doesn't get the nod like some other female artists who have less vocal talent. Trisha is the best.

    I'm obviously in the minority. I love Babyface and have several of his albums. But I don't see where he added anything to this particular song. Trisha's voice is immaculate, both live and on the original recording with Don Henley. Babyface felt underused as an accompanying artist, and when he got the lead, his phrasing interrupted the flow of the song completely and just felt wrong. Trisha has an amazing songbook; I wish she and Babyface had dueted on something else ("Real Live Woman" would have been a perfect fit for Babyface). This just didn't work for me.

    I only knew trisha yearwood in how do i live, but.. recently i noticed CMT is featuring black artist like alicia keys and now babyface? Awoke from reality? Good sign

      It’s also worth noticing that Trisha Yearwood was a leader in encouraging diversity in country music. She recorded duets and performed live with artists like Toni Braxton, Brian McNight, Aaron Neville, and Babyface. She also tried on multiple occasions to add black performers and actors to her music videos long before Nashville was ready for that.

    • @TheSpud1129
      @TheSpud1129 3 года назад +1

      Red - totally inappropriate post. Country music especially Trisha ENCOURAGES diversity. If you can sing, you can sing. No need to bring up "race" issues.

    • @nicholasconnell6934
      @nicholasconnell6934 3 года назад +2

      @@TheSpud1129 Having worked in the industry, I feel compelled to say: Trisha Yearwood surely does not represent "country" music--she is an exception in an industry as racist (and misogynist) as they come. And speaking only of her talent, she's too good for Nashville.

    • @TheSpud1129
      @TheSpud1129 3 года назад +1

      @@nicholasconnell6934 I understand your sentiments and truly do appreciate you commenting on my post. I was merely saying that there's no need to bring up the fact that Babyface and Alicia Keys are "black" and that CMT is featuring them. If you can sing (which all three can indeed), than it shouldn't MATTER what race you are. Is Jimmie Allen getting profiled? No. I'm sure he came up on some hard times, but he made it. Coffee Anderson? Charlie Pride? Hell - Jamie Foxx?? I'm white, and grew up in the inner city in a really rough town. I went to an all-black church and SANG. Why? Because I was really really good, and I (along with the congregation) didn't care that I was the only 10 year old white kid in there. There's enough stuff going on in the world today to constantly be bringing up the differences in people. Appreciate it for what it is. Good music. Which transcends space and time.
